You can tell Ross is really invested in what he’s talking about. Shows he’s actually really into this shit and shows he’s one of true ones. Most entertaining interview yet, Keep it up!
Yeah the vast majority of people who actually play the genre the best don't give a flying fuck about internet hessian opinions; I've always found that entertaining.
Ross is one of the few Death Metal Vocalists that actually sings ,and the Vocals are as memorable as the musical hooks. I would consider Immolation melodic without losing any Heaviness, or Brutality. Other than Cannibal Corpse - the Bleeding, and early Possessed there aren't really any other bands that accomplished this. All people like Chuck did was talking in a distorted Voice, Ross is more guttural and more melodic than almost anyone in the Traditional Death Metal style
FUCK YEAH!!! Immolation has never put out junk. I like and own everything they ever put out. Everytime they are around I go see them. Great interview J Dizzle
@@jefflawson3574idk, I think Majesty and Decay, Providence, Atonement and Acts of God are all some of the best stuff they’ve ever put out. Old school meets modern death metal.
Ross is the man! Real down to earth guy. Bumped into him and talked to him twice. Met him at a King Diamond show in NYC back in like 2014 (Immolation werent on the bill that night unfortunately). He went as a fan, was pretty cool. While we were talking I remember a few other metal heads recognized Ross and Bob and were bowing to him, and Ross shouts out to them "Hey man dont bow down to us, the King is inside!!" Was pretty humbling and cool, him and Bob Vigna even signed my King Diamond ticket for me. Met him again at the Cannibal Corpse show in Albany last year. They were on tour with Dark Funeral. Ross talked to my buddy and I for like a good 20 min. Immolation is not only one of the best DM bands in existence, but theyre also really cool dudes and will give you the time of day 😊
Was waiting for the DOG to totally murder the two people that couldn't resist walking in front of the camera!!! Ross is the Boss!!! Down to earth and super dedicated to Immolation.
Ross is a down to earth, nice fella who shoots straight from the hip and doesn't put on any airs. It's people like him that make death metal a good fit for people like me.
One of my favorite Death Metal bands of all time. There newer albums are really good and they haven't released a bad album throughout their career which is something you can't say about most Death Metal bands or bands in general. Good interview.
This interview just validates what I've been telling J-Dawg about Ross and Immolation for a long time. Ross is still very involved in metal, and his passion is as intense as ever! This was as good as I expected it to be.
Immolation are one of the GOAT'S of death metal. The quality run of albums from dawn of possession to unholy cult is unmatched by any other band in the genre
Ross is almost as cool as the one guy from Cardiac Arrest that he interviewed. The other Cardiac guy was really just ok. I hope your balls are only kind of busted.
I love these interviews with these veterans of the scene. I always want them to be longer and to hear more about the history of the scene and their place in it. I always find their individual perspectives so interesting and I think your knowledge of the scene makes these guys feel like they can be more in depth since they feel confident you are following them confidently.

I went to an Immolation band practice back in 1990, I was there with my boy Rich, who used to tape trade with Ross, and Mortician practiced too, back when Sicher was on drums and McEntee on guitar. Immolation have always been a class act, to me they're the real legends from the 88-92 era.

Ross is a real underground dude. Met him, gave him a comp with my buddies in it, and he's just really a nice dude. Like John McEntee. But Alex was like, "yo I saw you man" and gave me a high five. He also didn't hold back in this one, which makes me like him more

Salute to the absolute madman Ross & the rarely matched milestone streak during both the Smilowski- & Hernandez-era of Immolation. Brimming with elite infernal riffage, unorthodox drumming, monolithic atmospheric soundscapes & purposeful dissonance-consonance utilization, along with potent emotive force & 'soul' behind the compositions. Fingers crossed to see the madmen in the flesh here in the Netherlands or nearby any time soon. Always a pleasure & hails!
Yeah, every aspect about Immolation is awesome. I got to applaud Hernandez for creating such creative drum patterns. The way he aligns his drumming is very orchestral with gives the songs a very classical music-esque vibes.
Excellent interview. I watched it twice. Content reminds me of the time I met Ross on tour with Mayhem in Nebraska. I am not a fan of Harnessing. But I own that album, and all other Immolation CDs. Immolation super dark sounding; especially their older music.
