You can use external hardrive, if you want this windows 10 only for testing purpose and dont have much to do with it you can download 1 GB windows 10. I did the same. See this fellow's video th-cam.com/video/pTXHU_9oNdM/w-d-xo.html
I didn't think you could run a VM as a guest on the host from which it was made. That may be why you ran into the Windows 10 error and had to use a VMD from Windows 8.
3:47 no need to convert and all.. while making the virtual hardrive dont make VHDX , untick both vhdx and volume shadow in the options and then make VHD file. VHD files are readable by VMware, VMware might ask you to convert other format, but my advice is dont, because first only making VHD file takes 2-3 hours. Then it takes around 100 GB of storage as your actually coping the whole c drive (and other drives also if you selected them). Even if you make VHDX file and then convert to VMDK file format you need to have another 100 GB of storage to save that file (because I have storage problem, if you have unlimited storage then go ahead). And that will take another 2 hours maybe (depending on your CPU).. Just make a VHD file and run it in VMware. no need to do these conversions and all. I am telling this because I had tried and ran out of storage space because c drive was 100 GB and the VHD file was another 100 GB. note: VHD file not VHDX (dont get confuse or else VMware wont recognize it or show error).
I highly recommend "how to record the screen in windows in just 7 1/2 minutes"
I did that but I have 29 gigs on a 1 terabyte hard drive!! How do I extract just the bootable usable space????

If I have an OS in VM , how can I save this VM and run it at other laptop?
Does not work for virtual box star wind converter only converts VMs to run on VM ware and hyperV not virtual box
U can use Oracle VBox. It works.
Yeah ik I later figured out my issue was I didn't run disk2vhd as administrator
does not work with VHDX , only VHD

Can you install it on another virtual machine on a different computer apartfrom the host?

pm me and i will show you
i'm ghanaian too
On Windows 7 I got this error: unable to open disk 0
Maybe you had mounted the virtual hardrive. Eject it and try doing it again. I had the same problem
please bro make a same task video for ubuntu
Ok, now show how to do it with Windows XP and then I will follow you.
(W10 makes it easy as it works in different hardware 90% of the time).
Disk2V doesn't supports WinXP nor Win2003 sorry. I learnt the hard way.
