    Can one do a P2V of a dual boot machine and then convert only one boot side? I.E., I have a win7 and win xp computer dual boot; I'd like to just convert the win 7 side.

    dang. One of my computers broke and I wiped the drive I recovered a lot of the files on and I just found this video :|. I may be able to try to recover the data before the wipe.

    at 4:48 I do not get this option to choose an existing backup. Is this a PRO version feature or can I do it in the free version?

      When you say free version, are you referring to VMware Player by any chance?

      @@OnlineComputerTips it’s VMWare Workstation 16 Player

      @@marklee_2209 I dont have Player installed at the moment but if you look at this page it seems as though you might only have the add existing disk option after you configure the new VM and not during. So maybe go back into the add hardware section after you create the VM and see if you can add an existing disk then.

      @@OnlineComputerTips ok, good link. That allowed me to use the vmdk backup file. Thanks, I was struggling to find anything like this. However, the VM isn’t booting up as it cannot find an operating system. I also realised after your first comment that player and WS pro are different things. Downloaded WSpro on trial and installed as per your video. I have exact same issue with the VM not booting up so I’m going back to StarWind to create the VMDK file once again and retry both methods (WSplayer and WSpro)

    Can I convert to VM a physical computer with Windows XP using Starwind Converter?

      If you can install Starwind on XP I would think it would work.

    Have you been able to use the Mac OS Vm with or without your Apple ID??? I’ve read that Apple has been banning Apple accounts attached to hackintosh or Mac OS vms.

    • @OnlineComputerTips

      I haven't made a Mac VM in over a year, but it looks like it the Apple ID worked back then when I made a video on it.

      @@OnlineComputerTips If you are able to show and prove how a Mac VM is still useful without using an Apple ID, the same way I’ll watch I’m sure many more will be interested in watching ( it’s free promo for Apple either way) many will be able to see, feel and test The Apple OS beforehand deciding whether or not to buy. Thanks for the quick reply 🙌🏼

    Does this program has a bootable version to convert the system without the OS loaded?

    Any problems with windows activation when you do this?

      It's been a while, so I don't remember but search GitHub for HimDek / Windows-Activator if you do.

    I did it and it works, but its very slow with 6 giga ram. I am not sure if I have installed properly the vm tools. do i need to restart the program once i do?
    Edit: Actually, I increased ram usage and added properly the tools and now works a lot better. Now, I stored all these in an old hard drive, if I want them in a portable SSD for better performance, do i need to redo the process or can I just copy paste the contents of the old hard drive directly to the SSD?

    • @OnlineComputerTips
      @OnlineComputerTips  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      6GB of RAM is not a lot plus if your host computer doesnt have much RAM then that will slow it down because your VM is using some of it. Yes you need to reboot the VM after installing the tools.

    • @frickxnas
      @frickxnas 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OnlineComputerTips Yeah, figured that out. Thanks. And about the transfer of the whole thing to an SSD instead? Can I copy paste them and it will work or do I need to redo the process?

    • @OnlineComputerTips
      @OnlineComputerTips  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@frickxnas If you want to copy the drive with the OS on it to your SSD drive and have it bootable you should use some type of cloning software. We just did a video on NIUBI Partition Manager and were able to clone a drive and boot from it.

    I tried to use this according to your video, didn't work.
    I tried creating it in different ways and none worked.
    Couldn't find vmdk file, or it tried to boot via a non existant drive.
    They need a better way of doing this.. so far it's just hogwash.
