Pat!@ so tired I fell asleep this morning while watching. Hey remember the part that "auto-fire" plays in planes: In planes it's "auto-attack". You have to turn it off after to join up your planes and before you direct them to their target. If you don't they will attack the closest enemy plane that pops up on their way to the target - but they will not go back to the target!!! I sent out my scouts on tangents about 50' or 100 feet apart. When I split them off 90* it was almost always to the exact same distance. that creates a box area. Anyway thanks for trying it. I'm going to try it on my CVs. as you suggested. My Port Moresby blasted from 3/1 to 1/1. 😵😵😵😵😵😵😵😵😵😵 Its. 6 June 42 and a struggle - but I get my Fletchers now!!😁😁😁😁
Tonight in news we knew a while back; "The Game Cheats!" In the event that your strike has been sent without necessary fighter cover,,, Again. I would seriously recommend going to Murder Box formation as soon as the turn begins and NOT send the strike in to their targets until AFTER the enemy fighters have been Murderized. That could possibly help reduce such appalling losses in the future.
Oh man, you're totally right there. IJN CAP is never a sure thing, so I got greedy there when it did not show up immediately. Have to learn to be a bit more patient, but my blood was up. My boys paid for it tho, will do that next time. Thanks for the tip, appreciate it. And yes, they cheat...lol. Ironically, its only fair.
Taiho, without the real life implications she had makes her a really dangerous target, and that deck armor will likely shrug off even SBD 1000lb bombs. Let alone the newer aircraft she gets. Speaking of Japanese carriers, they actually launched a (somewhat) balanced strike and the results speak for themselves, and I bet the Vals that came too late were supposed to be in the initial strike but couldn't join the battle for some reason. If this what the next carrier battles will be like, then I'm excited. Another note, the Japanese get their ships earlier than historically because the player would likely already win before they come out to play. Side note, last Sunday I had the opportunity to go to Pearl Harbor (I'm now back from my vacation from Hawaii and properly jet-lagged and tired) and I visited the Arizona memorial and the USS Bowfins.
Was Mighty Mo open? Last time I was at Pearl they had just bearthed her, so she's on my list. Bowfin museum is awesome, and Arizona is something everyone needs to see. I'm jealous man, thats a great trip. I hope to do it again soon. And yes, they hit me with all the things! Got a bit lucky there, for sure. Best always Adam, good to hear from ya.
@@ItsPaaat Due to... complications in planning, I was not able to go to the Mighty Mo or the Air Museum on Ford island I wanted to visit, but you can be sure I'll next time I will. The thing about very long search patterns you leave those long legs unobserved for very, very long. Your arms of the clock method was a preferred method in the Pacific. You might be better off with that merchant convoy going to Guadalcanal and taking just enough resources to build Milne back up. It would get Milne back to level 3 airfield faster It would not hurt Guadalcanal
That's a good idea Jeffrey, but I'll have to check and see if I have any gas or engineering there, im not sure that I do. Lotsa fighty bois, but I have plans for them....
I have been binge watching this series for a couple of weeks now, while playing along on this campaign using all the latest versions of TTE, Pacific Campaign, and Operation Magazine, and using the same settings as you. I'm on day 142, and I have taken all of the bases in the bottom left of the map, Including Rabaul, which I have built up to Lvl5 Port, and Lvl 3 Airfield, which, with all of the other captured bases is giving me 104 points every week. I'm not sure why you are not focusing on taking bases, and building them up, which will ultimately give you more points, and more land base aircraft.
Thanks for the comment man, good to have you here. Thats an impressive run, keep at it! My slower progress is probably due to three things: One, the IJN scraped Moresby down to the sidewalks early here, so ive been playing catchup since then to keep Milne alive. Two, I spent a lot of money on carriers early, which was good, but kept my offensive firepower in one spot for a while. Three, I'm just not that good at doing any airstikes that dont involve mass and concentration of force, so I do lose a lot of planes. I guess I could add to that the fact that when i started the campaign, I thought the IJN would be limited to ships that were available at the time, and thay was waaay wrong. I figured if I sank their major elements, id be free to land troops at will. But when IJN crusiers and carriers that were not in service until mid 43 show up in early 42, that kinda sinks that strategy....lol. S'all good tho, will sink em all eventually.... Best always bud, keep at it and keep me posted on your progress.
