I was a shipboard rescue swimmer, attended training 1978 and we had to wear our dungarees on all our swims.
I don't remember any medical training back then.

Back in my day at Pensacola, the week before I graduated from Aircrewman school, instructors asked us if we wanted to volunteer for RSS, I said yes then got my ass kicked swimming and and other stuff.
A lot different than this dudes recollections.
But maybe my experience was different. Just SMH about this dude's experience.
