    As a rolex owner, thank you for reminding me about everything that's wrong with the Rolex AD experience. I picked one up in 2005 at an AD in the Carribean. Fortunately it was just an OP so got it on the spot, but never bought another one because of stories like yours. Wait forever, pay to play, and still settle for 2nd or 3rd choice.

    Great story, I have several Rolex models now but the only one I ever bought from a Rolex AD was a two-tone Submariner back in 1985. In those days, you can walk into a dealership and buy one. Today, you are on a waiting list for years and may never get one. All the other Rolex models I have, I purchased from grey market dealers. I have visited my local dealerships and also visited a dealer in Bermuda and Hawaii when I was on vacation and they did not have any for sale either. I have no idea how any of these dealers make any money without any inventory.

      Thank you for your comment I really appreciate it! I asked the sales person how they can have 5 sales people standing around not selling anything and they told me all the watches are sold before they get them so when they come in the sales team splits them up and then they call the customer to come pick it up. The sales people are doing very well and they don't even need to know how to sell. Crazy Times. Good luck!

      There are 195 countries in the world and Rolex makes a million watches a year yet there is no stock for sale in any AD yet every single grey dealer on the planet has the 2023 range with box and clean papers. This is why the AD's have no stock, the AD is just the wholesaler for the grey market.

    Last weekend I came to the AD of a big US city, inquired aboutethe LV sub, and it was presented to me for purchase (which I did). I do believe the inventory situation has changed and you can definitely buy watches at rolex now. You just need to come with the right attitude

  • @mikekellyco
    @mikekellyco ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I hate to break it to you but telling an AD that it was his last $15k and you only want one watch is what took so long for you to get your watch. Wining and dining the AD is useless. They want to know that if they sell you a desirable watch, you will buy more watches and hopefully some jewelry from them again in the future.
    You’re better off telling them if they get you a submariner, you will buy a solid gold day date from them next. And if they think of you next time they get a Daytona in stock, you will think of them when it’s time to get your girlfriend an engagement ring.
    The fastest way to get a Rolex from an authorized dealer is to buy a piece of jewelry from them and mention that you are also in the market for a few rolex watches. Then ask them to call you when they get one in… if they don’t already have one in the back waiting for a good customer to come along.
    Sorry about your dad.

    • @1973nader
      @1973nader ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your insight you are probably correct but I do know many people that have been waiting longer then me for a sub so I have to believe why you want the watch has some value. 🤷‍♂️

    • @mikekellyco
      @mikekellyco ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@1973nader Sure it does but only if they just got the watch in and your story was more compelling than the other two guys that came into the store that day.
      Most AD’s don’t even keep a list but if they do, it’s only for slow times when there are not so many people coming into the store. It’s more about timing. Being persistent with the AD is not as much about reminding them to call you when a watch comes in, it’s more about being there at the right time. The more often you are there, the more chance you will be there at the right time.
      The only reason this guy got a call was because it was a submariner and some AD’s get dozens of them a month.
      The reason you can’t get a Daytona is because the person who gets it is on the owners speed dial. The jewelry store owner calls him every time a watch comes in and he buys the watch that’s being offered to him whether he wants it or not. Even if he has to take a loss re-selling it. Every so often the call will come for a good watch. And all the watches he bought that he didn’t even want were part of the price to get the watch he actually wanted. That’s why it’s mostly flippers who end up getting all the good watches and Daytonas.
      Take it from me, an ex-Jewelry store owner.

I just wanted to see the watches, and wasnt planning on buying anything. As soon as i walked in, the sales associate went up to me and walked me to the back and showed me what watches they had in stock. I thought it was weird because they didnt even acknowledge other people walking in. I know its hard to buy rolexs right now. So it made me wonder, would they of sold me a watch even though i dont have a rolex purchase history?

    Rolex is too much trouble for me. I’d like a Submariner as much as anyone but for my 50th next month I’ll be buying an Omega Planet Ocean. The local AD told me that they’re lucky to receive 3 stainless steel Submariners a year and that they’re reserved for customers with buying history. Here in Australia the Planet Ocean retails for $11400 which is no small amount of money. Submariner’s start at $13550 for a no date. I’ve been saving for the Planet Ocean for a couple of years and stopped considering the Submariner it’s all got a bit ridiculous for me. I'm glad you got your watch but you didn't do anything anyone else could have done. All you did was wait long enough and they got a submariner in stock for you, you could have called a gray market dealer and had that watching 10 minutes.

    • @1973nader
      @1973nader ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your comment, but I disagree. I know people that have been waiting for a submariner much much longer than I had to wait. It took me three months from the time that I told them that I would take one over the Daytona and had zero purchase history. I still know people that have been waiting over a year for a sub and still haven’t gotten offered one and I did not want to buy one from the gray market. Matter of fact when I got my watch they were selling on the green market for $15,000. Why would I pay over MSRP I would just rather wait. Take care.
