Initial thoughts on the Revo Ness- I am a Nessmuk fan, so I stopped this video at 2 minutes in and ordered this one. I find the unusual handle to be very ergonomic for grips such as forward edge out, reverse edge out, pinch, and saber. Due to the angled handle some other grips won’t work as well. Some say the detent is too firm, but my example deploys easily. I did immediately add one “jimp” to the flipper tab, which was not absolutely necessary but helps a bit. I also added some jimping just forward of the handle since I frequently use a saber grip. THANK YOU Revo for the reversible clip, it got switched as soon as I removed it from the box. The factory edge was paper cutting sharp. I gave it a few swipes on a ceramic rod and a few more on a strop and it will now shave a tick’s cheek. The tick was uncooperative though and may not have survived the testing phase. I would like the liner lock to engage a little more of the blade, but maybe a bit of use will take care of that. It covers enough that I dont think it will close accidentally. I am used to mostly Tri Ad locks, so that is what I always (unfairly) compare to, haha. I see that the liners on this model are skeletonized, thankfully, unlike the original. Weight of the non-KC exclusive is listed at 4.96oz. Mine measures at 4.1oz. Without using yet, I would give my sample just slightly shy of 5 stars.

The steel is listed by Gerber as 7cr on the downwind. For a folder, eh, but for a field knife, easy to maintain in the bush.

Just got my REVO Ness in Copper, and I love it. It’s well put together with SS liners, liner lock and big, broad Nessmuck D2 blade. That blade by the way, with its big, flat grind, is very slicey. It’s perfect for slicing tomatoes and spreading peanut butter (and most anything else)! The flipper action is very good, and the clip is my kind of clip, smallish for the knife, low but with a perfect upturn at the end, and BOTH inset into the scale and with flathead, countersunk screws! Not even WE does that! It is even very effectively deep-carry, leaving almost nothing showing above the pocket. Amazing! All for $87.50. I recieved 2 other knives today, which cost $200 and $350 each, and I don’t know why I bother. One of them is defective, in the pivot, and the other is fine, but not very snappy. The Ness is better! I’ve already put the others away, one prior to returning it. I will keep the Ness with me.

That Gerber Downwind would definitely peak my interest if it they made it in 14C28N with a full tang.

Not different lines lie Civivi/WE or CJRB/Artisan/Ferrum Forge, but like CRKT, Kershaw, and now Schrade and Buck. Someone mentioned to me that certain shoe companies do the same, and do I think the shoes we can buy are the same as sponsored elite athletes? No, no I don't. I actually really like that Kommer CRKT. I'd pay 12 bucks more for G10, but rubber works great and is just fine for the price. I do like that last Gerber fixed blade design (I really don't need full tang for a small belt knife if its made well) but of course, they used 7cr steel, which from what I can tell is about the worst version of that already low performance steel. I don't know why, but Gerber just does not do a good job with that stuff, and I've heard it compared to 420J2 or 4034 run soft. Until they step up their game, I simply won't give Gerber my business. If they show that they give a damn, maybe ill change my tune, but this knife does not help their cause. Such a waste of what could have been a really nice budget option with a decently heat treated 8cr or 12c27

I see some of the prices like $300 $500 and I guess if people buy them it makes them happy but a knife is a knife like a gun is a gun . Subtle differences in quality and longevetity and craftsmanship dictates the price and I m tired of hearing “ budget” model because that would describe most of the nice things I have 😊 and I don’t consider any of them budget . I ll always take good value for money when making buying decisions . It’s stupid not to or yer rich . You pull out a knife and show the average person they could care less . Please CRKT stop using 8cr13 there are so many of your designs I would love to buy if you just upgraded the steel! I mean I've still bought multiple of the minimalist because it is only like 25 bucks but I'd happily spend 60ish for a better steel!!!

I finally gave up and got myself a spyderco, and I don't get why they're so popular. I have a couple of civivi and a cjrb that I like way better. Maybe it's the size of my hand or just my taste, but yeah, not impressed.

I’m wondering which Spyderco knife you got. With the number of different models they have, it's hard to dismiss every knife after handling just one. I’ve handles some Spydercos that I hate and have some that I love. If you are open to some advice, go and handle more models before you dismiss the brand.
