The lyric video was okay, BUT, The Rolling Stones produced their own MTV video for this song that is really cool, and very different for them. It is sort of a James Bond-ish style, and shot in either Mexico, or some other Latin American country. Most definitely worth a look.
Undercover (of the Night) is the title track of the album. It was a top ten hit and the album went platinum. Another song on the album in the same vein as this is Too Much Blood. It's about a more horror movie type violence that Mick more or less adlibbed in the studio. I think both these songs were more about the music than the lyrics. I doubt Mick cared much about what was happening in South America at the time.
Most people say they don't like this song or the album but, also, most of them haven't actually listened to it. It was the 80s. It's a weird album and I've never made up my mind about it. It's kinda genius and kinda terrible. You'd enjoy She Was Hot a lot more I think. Side 2 had some hard songs like It Must Be Hell and some just mean songs. Vicious lyrics. I don't listen to any of it often but I always enjoy it when I do. Watch the music video. It's a hoot but kinda violent and goofy.
@@debjorgo he plays two characters, himself and the investigator with the mustache. I think Keith shoots them both. It's awesome. Also you get to see Keith shoot a television like Elvis did.
@@rachelpsmith3129 Well, I know the band is in it playing instruments. I didn't remember that it was Keith that shot the Jaggar character or that he shot the real Mick too. Maybe I need to watch it again.
Too be honest, after the Mick Taylor years, the output from the Stones was a lot more hit and miss for me, and they’re my favorite band. For some better Ronnie Wood sera sampling IMO, I highly recommend a few songs off of his first album with the band ( Black and Blue). Check out: Hand of Fate, Crazy Mama and Hey Negrita (which has some of the most unique guitar work I’ve ever heard from the band).
Same kinda deal, this time on the Iraq war, more classic rock great lyrically and they knock it out, thank me later. ) th-cam.com/video/fjwIhyMfvRY/w-d-xo.html
Thank you, Shawn. I appreciate you playing the Rolling Stones and a song that never gets played. As always your commentary was outstanding.
That word in the first verse about Argentina is desaparacidos - people who just disappear suddenly, taken by the government.
I always had this as one of my favorite Stones tunes. I really like "SLAVE" from Tattoo You album - it has such a great groove!!!
Slave is HOT. Damn,I miss Charlie Watts. He was my favorite Stone. R. I.P.
Oh yes, so groovy and Pete Townshend on guitar and (i suppose) Bobby Keys on sax.

Great bass playing in this song from Billy.
This is a serious jam! The last great Stones song, next to One Hit To The Body!
The video for this in 83/84 was TOP NOTCH comparatively to that era.

I didn't like this in the 80s, but I love it now 👍

Best song of the 1980s !!!!! I was a teen
Hands down
Keith is referred to as The Human Riff.
I believe it was decided they wanted one or two of the songs to have a dance vibe so it would be played in clubs - which this song was.

Mick's character gets killed in the end, doesn't he?
All the Way Down is my favorite off that album

The music video for this is really good.

You missed a real opportunity by not doing the original music video!
Too Much Blood and It Must Be Hell are the other two great songs from this album!

Shawn, you should check out UNDERCOVER ANGEL, by ALAN O'DAY. ❤️
❤❤❤❤
Can’t agree about this song fitting in Ghost Busters. Because to me in fits more with a war movie. Or someone or something to do with South America.
