Hi. So I have the same saw that was my dad’s. It needed a new cord but I’m having problems wiring it. Took a before pic but deleted by accident. Can you help? Thanks, John.
It appears that you just pulled the armature out easily. Mine is firmly installed and I am not able to get it out. Did you have to do anything specific to get it to release?
Hello!, in my B&D HD1215 I pulled out the armature with the help of a heat gun and after heated, just a few taps and you are done. The idea is to make the metal to expand a little bit. Good luck!
Just wondering if anyone could help me find a place I could buy a switch and a guard for the old black and decker saw it was my dads I want to fix it up in new condition he was a builder for over 40 years I’m a carpenter my self I don’t need the saw on job sites I got plenty of saws but this old one is special
Tony. I have my dads also. Do you have a pic of the wiring to the switch in the handle? Got a cord on Amazon and deleted the pic by accident after I undid the wiring😕
@@johnvaughan5684 I wish I could help you but since I opened it up I took everything out including the armature because I tried getting it fixed in a tool shop that does repairs or me and he refused to touch it because apparently these old saws are outlawed by ohs because of the metal casing my wife gave me an idea to turn it into a lamp so I will be doing that sometime in the future any way sorry I couldn’t help but good luck I hope you can fix your saw because they’re actually great saws
@@tonystiglic6268 Thanks Tony. I found that one of the leads on the switch cracked and shorted out to the metal case. Ya it’s an old workhorse for sure. Dad was a builder back in the early 60’s. The saw just keeps going lol 😊
Thanks for posting this. I have an 8" model. Any idea where to get blades to fit these beauties?
I have found it on Amazon, good luck mate 😁👍
Lovely job! Do you/anyone know what part number the brushes are, or if there is a generic replacement?
Helo sir, I was looking a drive gear for my vintage B&D sawcat 8" ser. No:1258
Too cool!
Thanks Gotaigo 👊

The power wire had a crack in it that got pinched and shorted out. All fixed. Beautiful job on your saw👍

I would suggest to search on restoration forums, maybe someone will have something like that or try fb market (think I've seen one 🤔)
@@MatthewMoustache thankyou I appreciate your reply I know it probably sounds silly but the old saw is kind of sentimental to me
