On an A4 convertible at least, If you dont have the luxury of a lift you must safely jack up both sides of the car, otherwise the sway bar will make removal and replacement impossible. Turning the steering is important in making enough room to remove the ball joint.
That ball joint was never split using that tool!! I know because a standard tool doesn't open far enough for an A4 or A6. The Bentleys video also skips this part.....why not show us how you really split it?

you are correct. A splitter doesn't fot any audi for a matter a fact. They show how it didn't fit and then the hammered it lol.

I was told that my 96 A4 needs a right side lower tension strut. What exactly is that? Is that the same as a lower control arm?
