    Actual tone was very close. CE-2 is a little louder, and a tad more low mid. Very close. To the point of almost meaningless.

      Jeremy Shirland was thinking the same. Strymon kick ass.

      I love Strymon stuff too. At this point will probably stick with analog mods, due to their simplicity and my only using 1-2 pedals, but I can see why the Mobius is popular. (That and I bought a ce-2 for $20...lol)

      I think you are correct.Actually I think not having the extra low mid would be a plus for me. Given that I play Les Pauls most of the time which don't really need any extra low mid emphasis.

    The CE-2 sounds nicer in this setting, aka no other sounds and in the studio. Live though I love the space the Mobius saves on my pedal board and the audience doesn't care ;)

    Both good and can be used for different applications. I personally liked the CE-2 better, it sounded warmer/lusher to my ears.

    One of the main reasons you'd consider a Mobius is that you need to recreate a palette of modulation sounds live, and don't want to have 5-6 pedals you barely use on your board. Does analog sound better? Do records sound better than CDs? IMO that's not the right question. The question is does the Mobius recreate that sound? I think the answer is yes, particularly at the higher rates, it was almost indistinguishable.

    Um... since the CE-2 is so much louder than the Mobius in this demo it's difficult to make a fair comparison. Low end perception is always greater with more volume so the Boss sounds warmer in this video. If the level knob on the Mobius was just turned a bit to the right you would hear that they sound nearly identical.. but the Mobius does SO much more than just the D-Bucket setting and can accurately reproduce a variety of classic pedal sounds. I've had mine right next to both the CE-2, CE-5 (analog), and the Walrus Audio Julia V1 and the mobius is equal or better than all of them. I should note that the factory presets on the Strymon are not great and the pedal definitely requires a bit of patient tweaking out of the box.

    Let’s compare the Flanger in the Mobius vs the Flanger in the CE-2... oh the CE-2 can’t do Flanger? Exactly

    I cannot understand why all the mobius shootout are like this... a guy trying to replicate a vintage pedal sweet spots with mobius...🤣

  • @billybobjohn8955
    @billybobjohn8955 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They sound similar, the CE-2 sounds maybe a little thicker, but when you take into consideration that the Mobius takes only a double pedal space but can reproduce 12 Boss pedals and above utilizing only one 9V source, it's appealing. The sweetest sounding tremolo pedal out in the market is perhaps the Mojo Hands Sugar Babe, and the Mobius' tremolo sounds quite similar. However Mobius really shines when used in a stereo setup. I'd go for a Mobius.

    Great Comparison. Both are truly Great Sounding Pedals. I will still take my: Free The Tone - Tri Avatar Multi Dimensional Chorus. That Chorus Pedal will Never leave my board. I am also A Huge Alex Lifeson Fan.

    Is there no tone parameter on the möbius? U can probably get even closer. From a mixers perspective it's easier to carve out low mid mud in a mix than fix harsh brightness or is at least more musical

    I had a CE-2 for a long time years ago and I never really loved it. Before that I played through a Roland JC-120 amp and that amp's chorus was the same circuit as the famed CE-1 and it was stereo in the amps two 12" speakers. The CE-2 was a step down from that for me although I really don't miss the JC-120 sound ;)

    I feel like while the Strymon stuff isn;t spot on analog stuff, if you had this the big sky and the timeline and a midi switcher itd make live so easy preset wise and you could come close to certain tones for live use and then use vintage pedals (phase 90s, small stone, boss chorus, filters etc) in the studio

    I like the Boss way more, at all settings. The Strymon sounds very sterile (like a lot of the other Strymon pedals).
