you shouldve done a stat of how much their deaths "decrease" their winrate with the same matric and subtracted it with the impact to show real impact. someone can get a lot of winning kills for their team but also a lot of losing deaths. for example if your team is up 5v4 and you die you make the round 20% more winnable for the other team, because you lose the advantage for your team and go from 70% chance to win to 50%.

After thinking about it here's my response that I also posted in the thread but can't pin because I have to keep my sponsor up 😄: A lot of people have commented on considering deaths as impact lost into the last statistic and here are my thoughts on it after thinking for a bit: It's certainly a great point but the issue is that impact of a kill if traded does not become 0. In fact, many top players have the opinion that an entry who gets the first kill and dies is very valuable, because they took initiative, challenged space, gained info, and then started the chain of trades where your team is much more likely to come out on top. It's true that a kill that isn't traded is "worth more", but how much more? wow, loved your effort. I am an average valorant player and enthusiast, follow the champs and game now and then but your insights made the idea of impact more interesting. keep going. you can also do videos about which combination of agents works best on which maps, and statistically generate best playing combination and attack/defence style considering higher tier and lower tier matches...
The last statistic was really interesting but i would've loved if you also did it the other way around and saw how much they decreased their chance of winning. Then added the two numbers together. Idk if u understood this cause im not good at explaining things:)
@@lukyschmunzel1888 Very true I originally wanted to include assists in the impact calculation but was not able to discern it from my data. Hopefully in the future!
@@platoonvalI think adding up deaths is really important to level it out, mistakes lose rounds and are as important as good plays that win rounds. On top of that, teams with more rounds won in total may be skewing the data? From all the teams you analyzed you'd have to level it out to for example the highest common number. If a team won 340 rounds and lost 310, then analyzing 310 wins and losses would make sense. Otherwise a team that lost more as a whole may have lower percentage of 'round winning impact kills' across the board, and it depends on who they played against, etc.
Even if all this data is public, it’s still extremely interesting to see you compile it all, give your opinion, and see how much I underestimated some players (Mostly just underestimated Jing)
if only prx win champions, everyone would think jingg is the best player in the world. EG winning doesn't do much for valorant, especially with that scummy org behind them
i think having 4 EG players at the bottom of the list at 7:53 shows just how consistent they are as a team. no one player has to hard carry their way through the games, and teamwork in this case really does wonders for EG edit: didnt go forward at all, just heard you mention it. oops lol

Great video! One thing I’d suggest considering is counting in the importance of getting a kill on a certain player, getting the first blood and etc. For example, LOUD lose 80%+ of rounds where Aspas dies first. This means that getting the first blood specifically on Aspas increases your chances of winning that specific round in a 5v4 scenario by more than 20%. Would be fun to look at those results and who knows, maybe even see a drastic change?
I feel like the use of utility, which can't be quantified, is what make "valorant best player" debate actually pointless. If there was a way to calculate statistics of for example "how the use of utility helps to win rounds for the team, per player" and have like "weighted averages" considering utility is used different regarding team roles (duelist/initiators/sentinels), it would give a sense of a complete comparison between players, not just regarding kills or death. That's why for me, Leo is top 5: His usage of utility is second to none in my opinion As you said in the video "the best team will always triumph over the best player" and that is what makes valorant, valorant. Phenomenal work!
this video and the data here are what the analytics guys salivate for. holy shit man, you did a great job. sadly, jingggg is on his way to retirement. though those other players you mentioned, including giants' cloud, are worth looking out for next season. cheers bro
Def. a interesting take on the topic. I was actually thinking a lot about all this. In my eyes and after searching through like tons of statistics, one name always comes up in most important ratings: Leo. Dude can shoot, dude can clutch, he has a lot of impact on almost every game with kills, utils and assists, he's gaining a lot of info, anchoring like hell, delying the whole game or speeding it up when necessary - simply an insanely smart player and in my eyes the currently best one in the world.
I really like what you're doing here and thought this was a great idea for a video! I've been watching you since that NRG video and I really think you've improved your game since then.
I feel like it's hard to implement and quantify this but the value being an IGL/not being one brings should in a way work as some little bonus points for them. Fantastic vid tho !
Very good video, only stat i would maybe add are the actual first deaths, because the more important it is for you to stay alive the worse every first death gets
bro ive seen many people try play like jinggg and fail miserably, i tried myself and i am a bot, but when i play like a suygetsu or leo or a chronicle style which is more supportive or even a yay style where he isnt as aggressive as a jinggg, i peform better its really shows jinggg is a one of a kind player, to be that impactful whilst playing an almost forsure geturself killed style sad he wont be there for paper rex 2024, its going to leave a huge gap for monyet to fill and others to also fill (i think something will improve since this was his rookie year)
I think this is very cool, and makes me want to get my hands on the data to mess around with it. I think that analysis does somewhat seem to undervalue utility. Since teams are pretty much static, it would be possible to explain a lot of the kills as being in large part from good utility. While capitalizing on the util is important, I think that the way the data is interpreted here over-emphasizes it. Generally the reason that Leo is brought up as the "best" is because he "makes the fewest mistakes". Even though Jingg and Aspas do great, the value of not using util at bad times and vise versa can be more impactful overall. I have no idea what the best way to measure would be, but perhaps also comparing each player's winrates in XvY scenarios against the average would be interesting. It would also provide some balance for the non-dive and non-contact roles against the first blood stats.
When im watching a movie and a character says "if we have better teamwork, we can beat players better then us" ill stop rolling my eyes cause this vid actually proved it WTH
Insane amount of work put into this video. I feel like many of these stats are even more impactful if you look at just a single team that played the same games. I think it would be a good way to actually analyze team styles and would be a major step in valorant analysis.
He was really good in the year he was the best player but GOAT conversations require a longer period of consistency. Basically 5 years at a very high level is better than 1 super dominant year. But I think yay has the chance to make a comeback this year with Bleed. If he performs well, maybe he can get back to the top.
I cant imagine the amount of research to make this video I do think agent pick also determine how good a player can be. The hardest thing to quantify and notice is utility usage
Nice video bro, cNed’s last stat is incredible when you think about that. It shows that he has the potential to be the best and be champion in a lot of tournaments but his team was holding him back 😢 hope he will do better in FUT
Big asterisk on best fighter in the world. The stats are all about kills and trades, etc. really hard to see behind the scenes on who has impact in terms of comms and other stats that aren’t measurable
really appreciate the takeaway at the end of the video; it's easy to overlook the fact that your own impactful kills may directly deny potential "impact points" for the rest of your team.
Another player I think is up there is F0rsaken, he's almost always near the top the of the scoreboard and can play pretty much any agent his team needs him to.
The first statistics shows the strategy aswell, demon1 was plugged into an already existing team, but loud had strategies arounf aspas entering and going nuclear.
While the video is very interesting I do feel like a lot of important statistics can't be calculated in a good way, to name a few: Bringing a 1v5 to a lost 1v2 might not win you a round, but could be massive depending on the economy and clutching a pistol round probably leads to another round win. Another important statistic is utility, kills might win you rounds, but good utility gives kills. And then there are the two that I feel are the least talked about but also most important, shot calling and mentality, shot callers are the core of the team, and staying calm under pressure is in my opinion the most important skill.
Really enjoyable video to watch! Very insightful and I can't imagine how much effort went into constructing your analysis! Definitely will continue to keep an eye out for similar videos of yours in my feed, thank you!!
I think a lot of people missed the take away from the video. There cannot be a “best” or most “impactful” player, because there are so many stats that can and cannot be measured. It is essential your duelist know how to entry (ranked duelist don’t…) it is essential your initiators know the timing on their util (ranked initiators don’t…) it is essential that your controllers take charge in controlling the map effectively (ranked controllers don’t…) it’s essential that your sentinels hold wide areas of map control and gather passive info (ranked sentinels don’t…). Because everyone of those jobs are so unique, you simply cannot verify a “most impactful” player. To win you need everything to piece together in a beautiful blend, which, may dilute the stats. Controllers and initiators typically do your mid round clutches. While duelist are normally your early round frags, with sentinels being your late round clutches. Your role is important at different points in the round leading to part of the statistical conundrum.
Exactly the best teams never have the most standout player because they all do their jobs so phenomenally. That will always make for a better team than one with a standout star!
forsaken jingg and something r my personal favourites mainly because their agressive playstyle players dont get me wrong leo derke ect are nuts aswell but in terms of entertainment factor prx just takes the cake fnatic be just showing up to win which is respectable i would aswell in there shoes, also the versitility on prx is nuts which is why i think their so consitant 2 2nds in a row is rough
I think the value of Leo isn't really shown in this video. The first stat is quite misleading as Leo has one of the Lowest death ratios in all of VCT, including FD ratio. On top of this Leo's KAST is ridiculously high, meaning when he dies he has done at least some impact in almost every round. This is something not highlighted here at all as not dying in a round or only dying when necessary is not valued. On top of that Leo is rarely someone to completely pop off in a game, the only times he's really needed to is in game which Fnatic are struggling, the value of Leo comes in his ability to not only set up his teammates, but also consistently do so, as he rarely dies. On top of this because of your statistics getting FKs is really important, but what this means is that you will commonly overvalue duelists, as you never even look into the assists at all. Something like FK assists is also extremely important then as, especially in pro play, an assist can be the only reason that kill every even happened, like if a player is revealed behind a wall, stunned or flashed. I just think alot of these stats don't highlight the positives of a player like Leo, as alot of the stats you looked at doesn't consider quantity at all, as f.ex the amount of round where Leo dies first for Fnatic is so ridiculously low
you arent accounting for first deaths, the top five are basically all duelists because the FK is really important (because of how drastically it improves WR, especially nowadays were teams are getting so good at 4v5 conversion). you should also calculate how many times they failed in getting that kill and maybe also look at who got assists for the kills. (although what counts as assists in game might not be the most accurate measure) - i should have read the comment section first like 100 people already pointed this out
Yeah I responded about the deaths not actually being a great thing to add, but I fully believe if I was able to add assists (planned to but couldn't since the data doesn't have it yet) it would give a great full picture.
I'd be super interested to see a death counterpart to the last statistic. that is largely weighted toward duelists because they take the most first engagements and second in because they can trade and bring it back to even, neutralizing the advantage, however those players are also far more likely to give up the advantage to the other team. one of the reasons leo is so good is because he is almost never first dead, and contributes the least advantage to the other team by dying, regardless of the advantage he gains for the team. If you had a statistic that weighed these against each other that would probably be the most indicative statistic of a players value i can think of and i'd be shocked if yay 2022 didnt top this list by a mile. great video though! i love these types of complex number analysis videos for digging up more information than is obvious!
ok but the fact that losing one guy gives 70+ percent chance to lose is crazy. especially when some of these guys play duelists (it makes sense on atk tho)
@@platoonval Also do you think a players ability to have a flexible agent pool/roles raises their value? The meta isn't always going to be the same and we've seen how chamber got dumped and Yays performance followed( probably not the only reason). But Demon1s ability to carry even on smoker and other roles probably raises his value as EG can run different comps and aren't susceptible to meta changes.
sry to ask this.. but 0:39, could you please share your code just for education purposes, would like to see how you manipulated the statistics given to you...would really appreciate it!

Appreciate the amazing quality and analysis done on the game and keeping me hooked even when I don't play the game anymore!
wow, loved your effort.
Do you mean based on their deaths?
Interesting ideas guys! I'll definitely look to do some more death-related stats in the future!
@@platoonvalmaybe Assist would be also important. Idk
Even if all this data is public, it’s still extremely interesting to see you compile it all, give your opinion, and see how much I underestimated some players
(Mostly just underestimated Jing)
I also underestimated Jinggg to be honest since he was never in any discussions but was pleasantly surprised when looking at the data myself!
if only prx win champions, everyone would think jingg is the best player in the world. EG winning doesn't do much for valorant, especially with that scummy org behind them
same, I didn't know jing was this impactful
As a data analyst and an avid fan of Valorant Esports this video made me feel things ❤
i think having 4 EG players at the bottom of the list at 7:53 shows just how consistent they are as a team. no one player has to hard carry their way through the games, and teamwork in this case really does wonders for EG
edit: didnt go forward at all, just heard you mention it. oops lol
Just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful research
Since CNed was this high in 2023 I am really curious on what his stats looked like in 2021, when he actually won Champs.
The fact cned was so impactful and yet Navi was so poor, doesn’t fill me with a lot of confidence for Navi 2024. Although their championship run under FPX in 2022 would also be interesting to analyze.
@@Lucaz99 they will be better this year for sure you could tell they didn't know how to play with CNed.
@@Lucaz99as we know from eg, it's the team cohesion that matters more than single player impact. So maybe Navi would be better, we just have to wait and see.
@@Jinx-iw6zb that’s a good point. But even though EG didn’t have the best players, they still had really good individual players, good coordination AND Potter who scouted the entire team and was their coach.
Only time will tell with Navi tho.
@@Lucaz99 you can just tell that NAVI had role issues just like how NRG faced the issue this year. Ardiis being back stabilizes the role in the team and he can fix ange1's trolling sensation now
You deserve way more recognition for making such quality, in depth and high effort content, keep it up
Great video! Would be fun to look at those results and who knows, maybe even see a drastic change?
i dont know if you currently have plans for this or not but a video like this as a yearly update on player statistics would be awesome!
That's why for me, Leo is top 5: His usage of utility is second to none in my opinion
As you said in the video "the best team will always triumph over the best player" and that is what makes valorant, valorant.
Phenomenal work!
this video and the data here are what the analytics guys salivate for. holy shit man, you did a great job. sadly, jingggg is on his way to retirement. though those other players you mentioned, including giants' cloud, are worth looking out for next season. cheers bro
this is a good video, good analysis.. wow... so good to see a metrics based on data
This is a crazy amount of effort
Great video! Keep up the good work!
congrats bro, that's an amazing data analysis
This video was so incredibly interesting and well made. Amazing work!
Really interesting video brother. Well explained and appreciate all the effort that went into it. Keep it up man!
Def. a interesting take on the topic.
Feels bad for cNed with how much navi did him dirty. The team single handedly ruined his year.
What a cool and well crafted video! Love how you bring factual statistics without making it monotuous. Pretty good!!
Very good video, only stat i would maybe add are the actual first deaths, because the more important it is for you to stay alive the worse every first death gets
This is so informative. Thank you
Such a wonderful analysis! Loved it! Great work Platoon! Can we get these statistics for TenZ as well though!?
I'll consider it as a future idea!
Eg didn’t need one player that’s why they did so good each member had enough value to be great but not too much to be needed
bro ive seen many people try play like jinggg and fail miserably, i tried myself and i am a bot, but when i play like a suygetsu or leo or a chronicle style which is more supportive or even a yay style where he isnt as aggressive as a jinggg, i peform better
its really shows jinggg is a one of a kind player, to be that impactful whilst playing an almost forsure geturself killed style
sad he wont be there for paper rex 2024, its going to leave a huge gap for monyet to fill and others to also fill (i think something will improve since this was his rookie year)
I think this is very cool, and makes me want to get my hands on the data to mess around with it.
Absurd content the amount of research put in this video is insane you have my subscription
This is such a different way of analysing compared to just looking at stats off VLR. Great video!
Yay in 2022 was such a beast, I don't think any other player will ever come close to what he did that year. He's got to be the best player ever.
Aspas
He was really good in the year he was the best player but GOAT conversations require a longer period of consistency.
Basically 5 years at a very high level is better than 1 super dominant year.
But I think yay has the chance to make a comeback this year with Bleed. If he performs well, maybe he can get back to the top.
cned 2021
Leo has already surpassed him😂 leo had better stats in 2023, also won more trophies and mvp titles
valorant in 2022 was much weaker than 2023 as well
Aspas is becoming the GOAT, we need consistency.
Insane depth in your analysis
I would love to see this kind of stats automatized in some app about ranked games. Great job and great vid
Cauanzin stats is very impressive, probably one of the most underrated players today.
This might be one of your best videos. This thought process is really good
Super good analysis, watched the whole thing
very informative! also i will really miss jinggg next year 😩
I cant imagine the amount of research to make this video
I do think agent pick also determine how good a player can be.
The hardest thing to quantify and notice is utility usage
this project is so dope, im going to do something similar. Thanks for the analysis
these stats show who is the best player for the team they play on. like the most perfectly fitted player to a teams playstyle
Great vid man!!
Amazing video bro, congrats
Nice video bro, cNed’s last stat is incredible when you think about that. It shows that he has the potential to be the best and be champion in a lot of tournaments but his team was holding him back 😢 hope he will do better in FUT
What an amazing video you’ve made here thank you so much❤
Big asterisk on best fighter in the world. The stats are all about kills and trades, etc. really hard to see behind the scenes on who has impact in terms of comms and other stats that aren’t measurable
For sure there will always be things we can't measure but one step at a time we strive to get closer to the truth!
really appreciate the takeaway at the end of the video; it's easy to overlook the fact that your own impactful kills may directly deny potential "impact points" for the rest of your team.
Another player I think is up there is F0rsaken, he's almost always near the top the of the scoreboard and can play pretty much any agent his team needs him to.
such an insightful watch, keep up the incredible content seriously
The first statistics shows the strategy aswell, demon1 was plugged into an already existing team, but loud had strategies arounf aspas entering and going nuclear.
wow. great video and i can tell you put in a lot of effort into it
While the video is very interesting I do feel like a lot of important statistics can't be calculated in a good way, to name a few:
Bringing a 1v5 to a lost 1v2 might not win you a round, but could be massive depending on the economy and clutching a pistol round probably leads to another round win.
Another important statistic is utility, kills might win you rounds, but good utility gives kills.
And then there are the two that I feel are the least talked about but also most important, shot calling and mentality, shot callers are the core of the team, and staying calm under pressure is in my opinion the most important skill.
I love these videos, keep up the great work man!
Really enjoyable video to watch! Very insightful and I can't imagine how much effort went into constructing your analysis! Definitely will continue to keep an eye out for similar videos of yours in my feed, thank you!!
great video man, well done
That will always make for a better team than one with a standout star!
forsaken jingg and something r my personal favourites mainly because their agressive playstyle players dont get me wrong leo derke ect are nuts aswell but in terms of entertainment factor prx just takes the cake fnatic be just showing up to win which is respectable i would aswell in there shoes, also the versitility on prx is nuts which is why i think their so consitant 2 2nds in a row is rough
this is what expected when someone say hisself "Thinking Valorant". Thank you for the great work, hope see it more in future
Interesting analysis man
I think the value of Leo isn't really shown in this video. I just think alot of these stats don't highlight the positives of a player like Leo, as alot of the stats you looked at doesn't consider quantity at all, as f.ex the amount of round where Leo dies first for Fnatic is so ridiculously low
great video and extremely interesting. also points out who you should watch if you want to improve
now kangkang won champs
platoon is really out here giving us a valorant scientific study for free 😭 amazing breakdown!!
you arent accounting for first deaths, the top five are basically all duelists because the FK is really important (because of how drastically it improves WR, especially nowadays were teams are getting so good at 4v5 conversion). you should also calculate how many times they failed in getting that kill and maybe also look at who got assists for the kills. (although what counts as assists in game might not be the most accurate measure)
- i should have read the comment section first like 100 people already pointed this out
Yeah I responded about the deaths not actually being a great thing to add, but I fully believe if I was able to add assists (planned to but couldn't since the data doesn't have it yet) it would give a great full picture.
i love that in almost every graph there's that 'yay in 2022' that pops up.
bro was like Jordan in his prime
Kudos to the hardwork !!! ❤
For me it's difficult to choose just one of the best of this year so aspas, jingg, Less and alfajer
If you had a statistic that weighed these against each other that would probably be the most indicative statistic of a players value i can think of and i'd be shocked if yay 2022 didnt top this list by a mile. great video though! i love these types of complex number analysis videos for digging up more information than is obvious!
ok but the fact that losing one guy gives 70+ percent chance to lose is crazy. especially when some of these guys play duelists (it makes sense on atk tho)
yay has those unbreakable wilt chamberlain numbers
😂
That's such an amazing video, doesn't get the hype it deserves
You didn't quantify IGLing. That's also a thing that should be accounted for as it raises player value
You're right and if I am able to figure out a way to quantify that it would be an awesome video idea. One day surely haha
@@platoonval Yeah idk how one would do that as we don't have voice comms available :)
@@platoonval Also some players on this list are secondary IGLs which is even more impressive
@@filipgasic2642 For sure those are going to be the best players for the longest period of time.
sry to ask this.. but 0:39, could you please share your code just for education purposes, would like to see how you manipulated the statistics given to you...would really appreciate it!
Yay felt like that one hidden character in a fighting game select screen that you only unlock by doing

Still hidden.
Good analysis, my friend.
Goated vid thx for the work
Nd the worst part is that jingg can't play in 2024
Common W video from platoonval
Some worse teams with 1 star player may stand out but some players like Chronicle and Leo bring some crazy stability and clutch skill all in one package.
great video fam 👏🏽
Jinggg was already my favourite, now he's my GOD.
Best overall Duelist in valorant history
