In pre-1947 historical literature , Padhana village is mentioned in “Guru Shabad Ratnakar Mahankosh” by Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha, “Jivani Baba Bir Singh Naurangabad” by Sant Pritam Singh Ji and Imperial Gazetteers of Lahore District 1901 and 1916. Historically, Padhana has been a large village of Sikh sardars of the Sandhu Jat clan. The Sikh and the Muslim Sandhu Jats of this village are descended from Chaudhry Changa Sandhu. Guru Hargobind Sahib also visited Padhana in 1620 along with some Sikh soldiers. During the Sikh Misl period in Punjab,1750-1800, Chaudhry Sukha Singh of this village was a personality of great influence and was empowered to hold magistrate's court. This court was granted hereditary rights by Maharaja Ranjit Singh which were kept intact by the Crown (British Rule) after the British annexation of Punjab and existed till the independence in 1947. One of Chaudhry Sukha Singh’s grandsons Sardar Javala Singh rebuilt his grandfather’s haveli in a majestic style in 1818, these are the ruins of that haveli. By 1901, Padhana was a large village with 6,690 population recorded in the district imperial gazetteers. Some central elements of the Sikh Sandhu Jat sardars of Padhana became Muslims during the calamities of 1947, did not migrate, and retained their ancestral lands. Since 1947 ,this haveli has turned into a derelict.

History of Padhana Village. Padhana Village was founded by a Jatt Zamindar named Gunia Sandhu, who belonged to Village Sarhali Kalan south of Tarn Taran and east of Patti town in Amritsar District of Majha Region. His Descendent Chaudhri Changa Sandhu had good relations with the Mughal ruler Akbar. His Grandson Chaudhri Dibba Sandhu was removed by the Mughal authorities from office of Chaudhri for Murder he committed. Padhana Sandhu Family was in the olden times one of the greatest Chaudhries of Majha Region. In year 1621, Guru Hargobind Sahib Jee, the sixth Guru of the Sikh Faith came to Padhana Village from villagers of Dhilvan, Hudiara, Rampur Khurd etc. At that time the Sikh Sangat especially the Sandhu Jatt Zamindars of Padhana came into the presence of Guru Sahib and paid their respect to Guru Sahiban Jee. Bhai Jallan Sandhu Jatt of near by Village Naushera Dhalla also came to Padhana to have glimpse of Sixth Guru. Sandhu Jatts of this area all became Sikhs. The Tall, well built muscular Sikh Zamindars from the Villages of the Majha Region, rose up and went to Amritsar (Guru Ka Chak) as it was known then, joined Bhai Banda Singh Bahadur (1670-1716), the Great Sikh Warrior and General who shook the Mughal administration to its core in year 1710. Sikhs from 1711-1753 were hunted down in nearly every Village of the Majha Region, wherever found were killed, many villages were raised by the Mughal hunters to the ground, prices put on the heads of the Sikh fighters. Sikhs of the Majha who were true to their faith, strong and defiant kept on fighting Guerrilla warfare in the coming decades against the Mughal regime of the time. despite the Holocausts of the Sikhs in 1746 and 1762 the Sikh Nation came out stronger and powerful ready to confront their worst enemies in battlefield. They gave their lives for uphold the principles of Sikh Faith and never gave up until lastly In the 1750s and 60s they became the De facto rulers of Central Panjab under the Sikh Misl or Confederacies it was a dream come true. In 1750 Sikhs established Raakhi (Protection) System In the Majha Region Villages. Each Sardar had armed Sikh Men who controlled 20-40 Villages or even more. Sikh Misl Period saw the increase of Jatts becoming Sikhs more and more joining. Once again in year 1726, The Sikhs of the Majha consisting of districts of Lahore and Amritsar took up arms and rebelled against the Mughal rulers of Lahore and the Sikh Rebel Leaders, Bhai Malli Singh and Bhai Gurbakash Singh, Sandhu Jatts of Padhana, Bhai Badal Singh and Bhai Bhim Singh, Sandhu Jatts of Rattoke, Bhai Baghel Singh and Bhai Amar Singh, Dhillon Jatts of Village Bhusse, Bhai Megh Singh, Shergill Jatt of Village Madar Mathra Bhagi, Bhai Bulaka Singh, Sekhon Jatt of Village Sangna and Bhai Lakhmir Singh, Sandhu Jatt and many more Sikh leaders attained Martyrdom). When the Sikh Misls rose to power in the 1750s and 60s, Sardar Sukha Singh, son of Chaudhri Tilok Sandhu of Padhana went to Amritsar (Guru Ka Chak) and took Khande De Pahul and became a Khalsa Sikh. Sardar Sukha Singh Sandhu had four sons, namely Chanda Singh, Mith Singh, Sahib Singh and Ganda Singh. His second eldest son joined Sardar Maha Singh (d. 1791) of Sukerchakia Misl, and his third son Sahib Singh, joined Sardar Gujjar Singh (d. 1788) of Lahore and one of the rulers of the powerful Bhangi Misl. Sardar Sukha Singh Sandhu of Padhana died in the year 1803, around same time when Ranjit Singh brought an end to the Once dominant Bhangi Misl in the previous year of 1802. In the humid month of July year 1799 Sardar Mith Singh was with Ranjit Singh when he captured Lahore from Three Bhangi Chieftains were expelled. In 1807 Ranjit Singh sent Sardar Mith Singh Of Padhana with a Khillat for Mai Seva the wife of Sardar Fateh Singh Sandhu (Killed 1807), the Sardar of Kale Village near Amritsar, who was injured and died the following day during the battle of Naraingarh south east of Patiala State. In 1814 Sardar Mith Singh was killed while retreating back from the failed Kashmir expedition he was ambushed by the Kashmiri Muslim Tribes. His son Sardar Javala Singh took his fathers position in Lahore Court. Sardar Javala Singh was very benevolent man he never took any rent or tax from his Sikh Sandhu Brethren farmers of Padhana. Sardar Javala Singh in 1829 suffered a stroke he was left paralysed and died 6 years later in 1835. Javala Singh Sandhu left one behind by name of Sardar Hardit Singh Sandhu, during the Second Anglo Sikh Wars of 1848-49, some of his troops joined Sardar Chattar Singh Attari and Sardar Sher Singh Attari, many remained loyal, for this after annexation of Panjab into the British East India Company in mid 1849, he was allowed by the British Government to retain his holdings along with his mother. Hardit Singh never held court like his father from 1835-1849 he was considered not strong enough to make decisions he died in 1860 and his son Sadhu Singh became the hereditary chief of Padhana. Sadhu Singh was enrolled in 1864 at the Government Lahore College where he studied. Nowadays the Lahore College is known as the Government College University of Lahore or GCU it was founded in 1861, with educated teachers coming from Universities of Cambridge and Oxford etc in United Kingdom to teach in western education. During the Gadar of 1913, Many Sikh Sandhu Jatts of Padhana went to California and joined the Indian Gadar Party to throw of Imperial British Yoke. Many Sikh Sandhu Jatts joined the British Indian Army and fought in the WW1. Zaildar Atma Singh Sandhu (1834-1897), son of Sardar Kahn Singh Sandhu (Killed in 1834), was a great Zaildar of around 52 Villages. In 1889, he started the reconstruction of the historic Gurdwara Patshahi Chhevin of Padhana with bricks, with donations from the Village Sangat as before the original Gurdwara also known as Dharamsal Patshahi Chhevin was a small mud building. His grandson Zaildar Sardul Singh Sandhu was the last Zaildar of Padhana from 1933-1947. Sikh Sandhu Jatts left for India, while Muslim Meo from Haryana came and settled in this once Sikh dominant Village. The Lahore Fort, Jehangir Tomb, Hiran Minar, NoorJehan manument have been maintained by government of Pakistan. Punjab government should take seriousness for this building.

I think such splendid historical havelis reveals the glorious past of Great Punjab,I have seen same kind of Havelis in Gujranwala which should be given under Government control to preserve our past historical places.

We should restore our brilliant heritage and it's kinds of all buildings we love each other
All the relatives should work collectively and also ask the both Punjab governments to contribute to revive the beautiful architectural structure of the haveli or Palace. It is art manship of Punjab and Punjabi culture.
It is a great asset of Punjab and our history.
Thanks
Evan NRI from both punjab can contribute for this noble cause i will donate ten thousnds dollars if they start its renovation and bring its old days back
@@sarvjitsingh1880 Dear Brother. I would suggest that a trust should be set up to look after and revive the glory of these sort of buildings including palaces, havelies, castles, mosques, gurdwaras, bridges, well, etc

I want to locate this Havelli. The vlog is tremendous effort to keep a re rd and history of this heritage building. The Archeology department is keeping many cultural buildings of Punjab. The Lahore Fort, Jehangir Tomb, Hiran Minar, NoorJehan manument have been maintained by government of Pakistan. Punjab government should take seriousness for this building.
I have visited Padana village and seen this Haveli in 1982 when I was student of 4th year in Gujranwala.

No border no war
Not possible sonya
@@alishaworldfullofmuzik heheheeh right
totally agree brother..no border no war ..let us all be brothers and sisters ..not see one and other as Hindu muslim sikh etc ..respect respect from Pakistan to all.
It is a border of religion not of people. When religious people grow up only then will such things be possible.
It is the RELIGION that divides us - let us put religion at the bottom in our brotherly relations.
Thank you Dhillon Saab for sharing it. We were from this village. Hope to meet our brothers some day.
I am also from this village
