    Great job Emma. I look forward to watching the next episode. That glue was some of the worst I've seem on a build. ❤

    Emma, great to see you are getting underway on your bus. Great to see you can get help from your dad. Was good he helped get rid of the heaters, and the hose in the back and looped the two heater pipes.
    Some comments,
    - If you want to keep it under 4495kg, suggest you do not use pine for walls as it is heavy, have a look at something like 3mm ply, it is flexible and much lighter. Also think similar with the roof.
    - you are probably now aware that the floor over the rear axle (the metal floor) is 6mm higher than the rst of the bus, so you need thinner ply for this area. Some use 12mm and 18mm, others use 6mm and 12mm - make sure you liberally coat the bottom and sides of the ply with a bitumin paint, and the ply is marine grade.
    - as you have the floor out, attend to any rust in the subframe - it is usual to find some, especially around the rear tail lights - take the oportunity to remove these anyway, as they all leak, and replace with new gaskets - in your build - make sure you can still access the rear of the tail lights to replace the globes if they fail, otherwise fabricate a way of removing the tail lights from the outside.
    - anytime you see bare metal, or even this paint, make sure you cover it with rust proofing primer at least, as hiden rust can develop under areas such as you have applied the sound insulation - love the job your sister did on the rear wheels - very professional.
    - You also may like to cut and cap the wiring to the heaters to stp any water getting into wiring
    - While at it, think about your battery access - many have installed a side access door, so you can build over the current access
    - consider adding an isolater switch at this point to the batteries, as all 24 Volt (presume it is 24 Volt as some later models were 12 Volt), as they are notorious for having parasitic current draw, and flat batteries.
    - Notice you installed sound insulation, also important to replace the heat insulation, and a vapour barrier, otherwise you will freeze or boil in Australian climate conditions and wake up with a shower of water from a steamed up cabin.
    Sorry, but this seems a boring list of things, and very unexciting, but dealing with these preventive actions will save you in the long run, as Coasters are VERY prone to rust, as you found on the roof - a great product to consider painting onto the roof is "Thermoshield" - easy to apply and provides some extra heat resistance - you buy it from the Qld office of Thermoshield, and they provide it in the quantity required.
    Keep up the good work, many lose heart at this stage as they do lots of work, but cannot see much for it.
    Cannot wait to see your next video - it is heartening to see a younger person like yourself with an ambition and committment to carry it through.

    Great job on the bus, but please use eye protection when using wire wheel attachments the strands will come out and a trip to the eye hospital will happen, from an old guy who only learns the hard way.

    How are you getting on with your build?

  • @harrybee7937
    @harrybee7937 ปีที่แล้ว

    Mineral Turps in a spray bottle will take off the insulation glue, spray on and after a minute scrape off with plastic scraper. Same with the vinyl glue on the floor.

    • @emmamaertens
      @emmamaertens  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you, we tried turps but it etched away the metal coating!

    • @gavanmurphy6453
      @gavanmurphy6453 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@emmamaertensThat glue is really difficult to remove - will not come off with any chemical I know off, and many have tried - use a wire brush to remove most of the insulation, and it will also take off the glue, but you will have a few scratches which need some etch primer on them. Some have had success with a caromel wheel (look it up in Bunnings), but I found it reallt slow.

    Hey Emma, how did you and your sister get the roof so clean and free of the left behind insulation fluff? I’ve been going for days on mine tried everything you guys did and I still feel I’m not getting far.
    Is it just a matter of continued effort or am I doing something not quite right - ie not using enough of the glue rid - it seemed to do very little? 🤷‍♂️
    Thanks - keep up the good work looking forward to your next video.

      Use lots of glue rid and soak the areas in it. We went through so many cans. Time and effort will get you there!

    Hey emma ..... I dont know why you bothered with the glue.You will have to be heavily insulating the roof anyway, and seeing as your not covering the entire roof in dynomat its properties will be greatly reduced . Spray foam insulation or something similar would have the same effect as dynomat and would be alot cheaper. Work smarter ...not harder !
    Great vid , just try to bump up the voice over volume up a bit . Keep em comming! 😊😊😊😊😊
