My fave Bangkok stadium is Boonyachinda, home to Tero. Located within police barracks, you get free transport from the main road, no rip-off prices on beer etc... and the stadium is easily accessible from anywhere.

@@FootyAdventures I love the old derby between Muangthong vs Buriram back in the good old days as it’s like Man Utd vs Liverpool rivalry but now Muangthong no longer has the financial power to challenge, so Pathum and Port FC came in to challenge Buriram instead

Thai Farmers Bank won the Champions League twice in 94 and 95 (the club folded in 2000). You also missed out going to the Futera Dome (it's not a dome) on the outskirts of Bangkok, home of Futera United, Champions League winners in 2031.

Enjoyed the video 👍🏻 I’m English and live in Hua Hin which is about 3 hours southwest of Bangkok. I follow Hua Hin FC who are in the 3rd division of the Thai league. They get about 4/500 at home games which I go to all of them as well as several away games. Hua Hin finished 3rd last season, were 2nd for most of the season but faded at the end. There’s a lot of Scandinavian expats who attend home games, along with the local “ultras” there’s a good atmosphere. Coming from Blackpool it’s great that Hua Hin is a seaside town as well. I use Fotmob but last season they didn’t show the fixtures for the 2nd and 3rd division teams as they had done previously.

Well done Sam. I have lived in Thailand for 17 years. I am also a Liverpool fan since 1965. Also interested in Religion and Folklore. I am not a fan of Leo beer, but Singha is ok ish. About the trees with dresses in front. The dresses are offerings to the two kinds of female tree spirits who inhabit the tree. The trees are Pipal trees, a kind of fig tree, and can grow to huge dimensions. The other name for the Pipal tree is the Bo Tree or Bodhi Tree ie Enlightenment Tree,as it was the tree under which the Buddha meditated when he became Enlightened. Speaking of higher religious beings ie God: Robbie Fowler's last pro club was Muang Thong United. He was there as a player for the 2011-12 season, and was appointed Manager too, about half way through the season. Then he retired from football. I never went to a game at Muang Thong stadium. I wish i had gone to see Robbie's final games. I did see Liverpool play Thailand at the National Stadium (Rajamangala) in Bangkok. This was about 2009. Fernando Torres was on fine form, came on in second half. The final score was 1-1. The National Stadium was packed, 65,000 fans. Almost all Thai, and most in Liverpool shirts. We scored first and crowd went mad cheering, but they did the same when Thailand equalised. The stadium is quite modern (1988). It is huge and well designed; very unlike the club stadia you visited.Originally it had a capacity of 80,000, which was reduced to 65,000 when all seating was installed. It often stages concerts.

I was at that match too! I've seen Man U, Real etc...play there. My fave Ratchamankala match had to be Thailand vs Vietnam (World Cup qualifier) I think it was 2015. Thailand won 1-0 to kick their arch-rivals out of the World Cup and earn Thailand a place as South-east Asia's first ever team to win a place in the last qualifying stage for the World Cup. Electric.

You miss Custom United in T2. This club is in Ladkrabang.😁
Muangthong Utd. is in Nonthaburi. BG Pathum and Bangkok Utd. are in Pathumthani. They aren't in Bangkok.
PAT stadium (Port FC) always has a great match atmosphere. If anyone want to have thai league experience, this stadium is really recommended and it's easy to go too.🙂
Most football clubs in Thailand use government or organization stadium so they can't change or improve stadiums much. Buriram Utd., BG Pathum, Ratchaburi FC, Chiangrai Utd., Lampoon Warriors FC are few clubs that has their own stadium.
P.S. Don't forget to check out new Chonburi FC jersey. I think it's nice.

Not actually Bangkok, however, Leo and SCG stadiumsl etc..(BG & MTU) are located within Greater Bangkok. This is also seen in teams around the world whose stadiums, though not in the center of the city, have their fan base in the capital's suburbia. Hah.. you mentioned Customs stadium. I was there in 2014, the stadium is in the middle of the sticks 😅

    • @psiriwat3231

@@Steveinthailand Custom utd change their stadium many times. Their last season stadium isn't big but not too bad either. At least, their stadium pass T2 club licensing (but it isn't good enough to use in T1 if they get promotion next season).
For thai people, Nonthaburi, Pathumthani or Bangkok are different provinces. That's why I said some clubs aren't in Bangkok.

    • @Steveinthailand
      @Steveinthailand 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@psiriwat3231 I had to check the year, I went to Customs in 2015, Championship Play-off vs Ubon UMT when away supporters were still caged off! Lol... but it was a really good day out. I walked into the away end not realising I hadn't got a ticket yet! Of course, I went back to the ticket woman and asked to buy a ticket. Brilliant. Living in Nonthaburi, at the time, next door to BBCU stadium Customs fans waltzed me all the way back home in the back of their pick-up,, with a coupla-cans-in-hand. So, till this day, I've a soft spot for Customs and Lad Krabang.

Great video, as for the passion of Thai's on football, its absolutely insane. Its all about Liverpool and Man U and the EPL in general. Thai football has grown in stature and is starting to be well supported, its a great days out with an abundance of food and beer outside the stadiums. Traditionally the 2 big teams in Thailand are Buriram Utd & Muangthong Utd

Yes Thais are passionate about Premier League teams, but usually rather fickle. For example in the 2015-16 season when Leicester were flying high, and won the title, Thais were wearing Leicester shirts in droves. Boosted by the fact that Leicester are Thai owned (King Power). As Leicester slipped down the table in later seasons, the shirts vanished and the Man Utd & LFC shirts were back. As corrupt owners go, Leicester's are up there with Man City's, but they don't invest in the team, so Leicester have slipped down to the Championship. I feel sorry for Jamie Vardy, but not the club.

I think the Thai league has peaked in viewership and fans and now it's died down in popularity quite a bit. It's still the best (competition wise) league in Southeast Asia and the top clubs are able to compete with some of the top clubs around Asia including Japan and Korea. It sucks cause I want to see big Thai stadiums like we see in the Prem and I think that's why people don't support the homegrown clubs as much (there's still plenty of supporters but I think no where near what it once was) since it's the mentality "Why would we watch relatively worse teams compared to watching the top European clubs".
I would like to see Thailand as a major player internationally and able to send representatives to global tournaments once but we're still a long way both in terms of league teams and national teams. Football is very big here and it's the #1 sport but infrastructure is nowhere near at the top level. If they secure investments and all the clubs in T1 can spruce and rennovate their stadium grounds, I think that would bring the hype back.
Buriram United is by far the best and most established household name in the Thai league for many years but they play in a stadium called Chang Arena in the province of Buiram, Northeast Thailand. Coincidentally, that is where my mother is from, so out of all the footballs I've been to (not many tbf), the most I've seen has been in Buriram every time I visit my grandparents. Great atmosphere, good stadium and local support and football is very much one of the highlights of this town. Also, when I last visited, they had fairly recently completed the racing track over there but I haven't been in many years so I don't know the atmosphere anymore.

7:51 these are actually sea serpents, known as the Nagas. In Thailand, Nagas hold a much higher standing than dragons (Mangorn) in Thai Buddhist-based folklore.
They’re the most divine after actual angels/gods. Some of them are actually regarded as those. Nagas are patron gods in various provinces in Thailand and appear in many insignias in the government and temples as they symbolise protection and prosperity. In Isan, they are revered as Gods of the Rain.

Compare Thai league to Scotland ? Well if about last season ,
Celtic , Rangers , hearts above any thai club.
Buriram - BGPU similiar with aberdeen - hibs
    Port fc-true bangkok with kilmarnock
Chiangrai -muangthong - chonburi with dundee united or something
    Ratchaburi with Livingstone .
Ross county still in low table in thai league consider event Lamphun have ally cisokho and jefren suarez . I forget about another team .

    • @graduke1
      @graduke1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

Most Scottish teams...even dundee united...would probably beat every team in the thai league...but they would struggle with the humidity! But in terms of size of the clubs in their respective leagues you are correct. The standard is a lot lower than Europe generally...even if the main teams do try to play some football.

@@graduke1 Most Scottish team how bro ? If you talk about local player vs local player yes . Event best 11 Thailand local player only Similiar level with Ross county . But at club level that's different story , many Thailand foreign player fresh player from UEFA Champions league and another UEFA continental tournament . Haris vukic , Frank castaneda , Jonathan bolingi , Goran causic and many more . At Club level Thailand Club as good as A-League club and for club like Buriram & BG pathum top perform they are as good as Jleague club & Kleague club. Consider Glasgow Celtic Results in Australia & Japan , No way Dundee united would beat every team in Thailand.Sometimes I am follow both Scottish league , Irish league , England , and Thai league . There are 4 former Dundee , Ross county, and Hiibs play in Asean and they are not very special . Just rotation player for Thai league standart .

Thai Farmers Bank won two AFC Champions League titles in 1994 and 1995 in old name Asian Club Championship.
Due to the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the club sponsor's stock price dropped 49%, which resulted in them being taken over by foreign investors.
The financial crisis went on, so in 2000, the club folded.

The dresses under the tree is actually spiritual they believe an angel lives in that tree and they give a gift (the dress) and will ask dor something in return. potentially that could be to win the game or anything. if that makes sense

It you have a chance you should visit Ratchaburi stadium. It has one of the best pitch in all of Thailand. And Bangkok Class...well.....they produce "glass" not beer. Singha and Leo beers produced by Boonrod Brewery.

Just amazes me. 24,000 capacity at Pittodrie,Aberdeen but still better attendance than the Thai top clubs and just Bangkok has a bigger population than the whole of Scotland...crazy.
Perhaps Thai's prefer to go and watch kick-boxing.

Thai football fans mostly follow Premier League and not our own football league because Thai League used to be filled with hooligans back then and the players on the pitch were rough, you could see them doing muay thai to each other when they were fouled so lots of normal football fans got tired of it and lost interest in our own football league.

I just came back from Thailand went for 2 weeks in June ended up staying 5 weeks came home 2 weeks ago and leaving with a one way ticket on September the 1st again fell in love with the place it actual does that to you people says it would but a expected it to be good, but it exceeded my expectations. I went myself everyone was saying in was mad or all the other pish and I went and was best thing I ever done happiest I have been in years ended up linking up with 6 boys who all came themselves also all from different parts of England one brother was from Kuwait. I don’t drink haven’t in like 7 year ended up in club 4 nights row didn’t check in anywhere as I was ament to be going home then on 4th night I checked in to the base condo and stayed for another few weeks the memory’s the videos will live with me forever even all the boys have stayed in contact we made a group chat and we are all going back over asap as was that good was like the hangover but the uk version could have been a movie. The country is beautiful the people are even better and it’s so cheap. If anyone reads this I say go over and enjoy your life you are so free to do what you want when you want, it’s literally a city that never sleeps well pattaya where I was same with Bangkok though and Phuket or go to koh Samui for the full moon beach party fkn unbelievable. A literally want go back over for partying and am not like that at all been off everything for years never touch anything or even 1 drink but cause with All the boys then went dancing first time every night we got vip table the rest is history the service and how well you get looked after along with the absolute stunners you can get without grafting like here in Uk it’s madness. Get over lads telling you if not do it
