Benita Alexander: her romance with a "super surgeon" conman, why she's exposing him & the aftermath

Benita Alexander is an Emmy Award-winning producer who worked for NBC's Dateline (alongside their top-tier talent Tom Brokaw, Meredith Vieira, and Ann Curry). She sits down with me to discuss the recent Netflix documentary, "Bad Surgeon," about the "super surgeon" who romanced her in what appeared to be a fairytale, but was in actuality, the ultimate nightmare -- he was a conman in every aspect of his life and lied to her about virtually everything. She explains her motivation for speaking out and offers other women, who might have been conned in some way, advice for moving forward.
A little backstory in case you haven't seen Netflix's "Bad Surgeon (I highly recommend, go watch if you haven't!)
After meeting supposed "super surgeon" Dr. Paolo Macchiarini, who was in contention for a Nobel Prize in Medicine for the first-ever artificial organ transplant, they fell in love. He "love bombed" her with sweet love notes and flew her all over the world to Venice, the Bahamas, Turkey, Greece and Italy. Paolo eventually proposed, promising her the wedding of her dreams (300 guests including, he told her, the Obamas, the Beckhams and other celebrities. Andrea Bocelli would sing. The Pope would officiate!). Turns out, not a single piece of it was true. Nearly every aspect of his professional and personal life had been fabricated beyond anyone's comprehension. None of his surgeries were successful -- in fact, every patient died with the exception of one, and that patient had the artificial trachea removed. As for his relationship with Benita, literally everything he told her was false. He had three other families located around the world, he didn't even know the Pope, the Obamas or the Beckhams, and the house Benita and her daughter were supposed to move into once they were married was actually occupied by another woman and their two children...
