D'Brickashaw Ferguson was an offensive tackle for 10 seasons with the NY Jets from 2006-2015. He never missed a game (or even a practice!) in his entire career, never once appeared on an injury report, and only missed one snap in his entire career because of a trick play. He made 10,707 out of 10,708 regular season offensive snaps. In 2022 he was inducted into the Jets Ring of Honor (one of only 22 players).
8 years after retiring from the NFL, we sit down to discuss how his perspective on his career has changed with time and space, how his open heart surgery at 9 years old drove him to to pursue football, how his ability to compartmentalize isn't conducive to his personal relationships (but rather acknowledges you have to be willing to express emotions and vulnerabilities), his character (his friends describe him as authentic), the challenges he's dealt with post-retirement as he's tried to discover his next career/journey, and what set him on the path of nursing.
