Another interesting budget option along the lines of Arctibax and Zweilous is Hakamo-o. Rank #42 in GL (as of yesterday), no legacy moves, and most builds won't need XLs, though that depends on the exact IVs. I just finished building mine and it hit the CP cap at exactly level 40. I'm planning on using it on a team with Arctibax, though I'm still trying to work out what to put in the third spot. I'm thinking Toxapex to cover fairies, but I'm not sure if poison/water is the best coverage to go alongside Arctibax & Hakamo-o. Ah, man, I'm really itching for GL to come back lol Anyway, from one Dan to another, I love your content. It's my go-to background content for when I'm at work and need something to listen to. You've definitely helped me to improve my team-building skills, and made me more confident in my battling abilities. Thank you for taking the time to make all these videos!
I thought about that too but you’ll know if they’re using Superpower if they use it right away since it takes a little less to charge it than Foul Play even if they’re using Psycho Cut, but of course they can and will charge up their moves more than that which you’ll not be able to know which charged move they’re running. That’s gonna definitely be one of Dunsparce’s toughest opponents and is also one of his key losses as shown on PVPoke which obviously makes sense.
@@CaseyBradshaw-xo7ig Yeah, I felt like it wasn't addressed, which at least in my mind was an oversight, but it's not like it invalidates Dunsparce. Also, nobody will be running psycho cut in GL. In Psychic cup it had value because all your damage was resisted like crazy, but Psywave is waaaaaay better in open GL.
@@8Xenodeus8 Yeah for sure. At this point I’m glad my Malamar kept Psywave even though I did try to get Psycho Cut using two fast TMs but it went back to Psywave. Hey dan, great video as always. I will say it would have been cool to see some full teams made of these easier to obtain pokemon but overwall was a great watch
Hmm, @2:15, not having been PvPing for a long time, is there any reasonable scenario where Machoke would be preferred over Machamp? If I have a handful of good IV machamps is there any potential benefits to keeping something with better IVs for a Machoke? Even if a cup exists that doesn't allow 3rd stage stuff I can't imagine putting an elite TM into it for one week of battling...
In terms of Dragons, Arctibax is the go to for this meta for one big reason: It is one of the only pokemon that can win the 1's against Feraligatr, Clodsire, and Mandibuzz. If you have it, i'd definitely build it over any other dragons, besides maybe Guzzlord
Thank you so much for thinking about accessibility for us. It is really hard to get some of the shadow mons as well as the ones you need to trade to get into the GL.
So Wigglytuff is 21-17, can farm down with 6 dpt charm fast move, beats Dunsparce in both 1&2 shield scenarios, can beat mandibuzz, gator, malamar, isn't XL or legacy move, and *is in current spawn rotation*. And yes, it dies to poison type but it's a far more accessible fairy rn than the 2 highest ranked options. Clefairy you've kind of panned already and florges I don't think has been discussed at all, but florges is also not too hard to find rn.
I dunno if its the rarified elo that dan is in, but where I've been at Azumarill (resistance) and Jumpluff (FW) are everywhere. I just can't see bringing dark/dragon into that plus all the neutral fast moves and all the non-stab ice charged moves.
Dunsparce is one of my chosen GL team members that I’ve gotten powered up since almost 2 weeks ago since I saw all of the positives that you pointed out. Your team building advice very often has me seeing which Pokemon are valuable before you even call them out, so thx for that Dan. I’d love to have a powered up Clodsire for the GL but I’m perfectly fine and happy running Dunsparce with two other meta Pokemon for great coverage, bulk, safety and consistency. It should be a great time but we’ll see what happens.
I’ve been keeping my Shadow Sandslash Alolan too in anticipation of using it in the GL but I don’t have it’s frustration charged move removed so that sucks there goes that option until another Team Rocket event happens.
welp, dunno about you guys but i've spent an elite TM on my sandslash to give it shadow claw and i'm not going to remove it now just because the current meta says that i shoud.

How does a team rank go down one grade in coverage within an hour when it was a B and went down to C when I had Dunsparce as part of my team? Wth, does that mean someone or some move that they have just got nerfed. I took a screenshot an hour ago before it happened and now suddenly it’s down one letter grade for coverage. Gastrodon really doesn't look impressive as Dan showcased it. Actually if he's low enough you can just farm him down with a Talonflame as the slaps are resisted and the body slams are not doing much.
@@fujinowaka89Dan has a tendency to over react to his initial impressions of a Pokémon with just one team comp.
