At the world pokemon championship, a huge move update was announced. This includes nerfing super strong moves like wing attack, counter, and steel wing. It also reduces the switch clock from 60 to 50 seconds.
This week is Master League and Psychic Cup. Psychic Cup is a single typing great league that only allows pokemon with a psychic typing to complete.
In this video we are looking at whether the starter pokemon getting their community day move will cause them to become meta in the great league
The reason sceptile doesn't use frenzy plant: leaf blade is the most broken move in the game with 35E 70D.
Fun fact: way back in gen 3, when Sceptile first came out, Leaf Blade was actually its signature move. But it's been 21 years since then, and Sceptile has been gracious enough to share its skills with all kinds of other grass-types throughout the last couple decades
I would love to see a nerf to virizion
@@danwg336821 years??? Holy fuck.
@@aaronconlin actually, they were first released in 2002, not 2003. I was too lazy to double check earlier lol. So gen 3 is actually 22 years old, which is way older than it feels like it is, IMO. I was still a single-digit age when I picked my first Torchic lol
@@danwg3368 Yeah come to think of it I think I was in 5th or 6th grade when I pulled my Team Magma’s Aggron from a pack. Everything after Gen. 1 still feels “new” somehow
Skeledirge also gets a signature move in the main game called torch song, which is a bit less power than flamethrower but boosts it's special attack, that might be better for it that blast burn in pogo.
All starters get a signiture move you silly
All starters from gen 8*
And 9
@jaysongoldsborough9889 ya but they don't all translate to pogo.. like what would flower trick do in this game where crits don't exist?
@@alfiesmullet1311 boost your attack as well maybe? Just like scald lowers your opponents attack
Torterra can learn Mud Slap, which would definitely make it useable.
Give the boy respect. Torterra shouldn’t be stuck with only razor leaf
Blastburn might not be prefered on skeledirge, because it means you can't do a bait + shadow ball with 100 energy.
Considering the cup going on right now, if girafarif gets astonish (does in main series) it could go crazy.
Astonish plus psychic fangs would make it a monster especially shadow
Karate chop Quaquaval would be insane
Came here to say this
With aqua step to give a guarantee + 1
If the future starter com days follow the trend of the last two years, an additional move will be added on to them, which could make them even better. For example, sparkling aria got added, spirit shackle, etc.
Niantic should hire you Dan to analyze movesets for all Pokemon to make it more balanced, seriously. It would be great to have some actual great grass and even electric.
When I started playing POG in August, in PVP battles I was always wondering why there’s no good electric Pokemon since I quickly saw that GL was dominated by water types and I still don’t get how they don’t have anymore good electric options even if there is Togedmaru and Stunfisk for instance. It would be way more fun with more types of Pokemon to actually use against the top meta.
in depth analysis is dope. Learning so much and starting to be able to see this stuff myself!
Quaquaval has a signature type that is based on speed. If they translate that to a fast charging fast attack, it could get very interesting!
It needs it now that wing attack is nerfed. Like Greninja. Give it Aqua Step
Bad fast move=unusable Pokemon. Everything depends on fast moves
Meganium can learn mud slap and body slam. It'd basically make it a grass type Gastrodon. That might make up for EQ being so expensive. Mid slap, body slam, frenzy plant Meganium would probably be interesting.
TLDR; gen 8 and 9 are the only starters who don’t have their moves yet. Skeledirge is the only Pokemon that will have play with the comm day move as it will become less bait dependent than disarming voice. Everyone else is just too glassy. There, saved everyone 30 minutes.
Hey Dan! Check out Quaquaval if you give it Karate Chop and Hydro Cannon with Close Combat. It’s erm.. interesting to say the least.
Hey dan, in pvp poke to eliminate baiting in sims just get rid of the bait move and have it with one move so it goes straight that move
There’s a bait on/off/selective option. No idea what selective is.
Id argue Skeledirge doesnt need Blast Burn...its moveset already is damn good and has great coverage
Yeah the dark and dragon coverage is nice
I think the other creators "one move from meta" videos are interesting because they show things that are one move from meta. They don't spend a lot of time on "one move from still not being meta".
They probably don't intend to make a lasting series from it. He's said this is going to be multiple videos.
Yeah agreed. This video could have been 8 minutes by just glossing over Pokemon which are not 1 community day move away.
Disagree. I think there’s value in seeing and understanding why something doesn’t work.
"like, why woud you use anything other than feraligatr? i think that's what it comes down to."
yep, true. niantic did a big mistake giving it claw.
little fact at the side: in the base game feraligatr is considered one of the worst water starters of all time.
Its always been my favorite water starter. Sheer Force is good on it. Makes Waterfalls hit hard af.
and then you nerf counter to it....
Quack might have ML Premier play as a shadow. Not that anyone is waiting around for that. That attack might hydro cannon palkia down with a good fast move.
Finally get a better understanding of the stats... thank you
I think your pronunciations are Meowtastic
Blastoise could benefit from Bubble, but it seems TPC removed it from the move pool 2 generations ago…
Shouldn't matter, Karate Chop is no longer in the game.
@@barokmeca oh really?! Interesting
you can turn off bait when doing the sims. it does give you more accurate, but not 100%
I love running skelderge it very weird to use but it’s quite fun but i haven’t ran it since the new season
Hydrocannon will most likely be nerfed to 45 or 50 energy within a year due to feraligator dominance
Hydro cannon wont be nerfed, as far as i know they have never changed these moves but what they can nerf is shadow claw
@@jaysongoldsborough9889 hydro cannon was nerfed from 90 power to 80. According to Bulbapedia it was back in December 2019, I think mainly due to Swampert with old Mud Shot.
@@jonathanclancy3059 damn lol
i wouldnt say its Hydro cannon thats broken. Its fast move of the pokemon who has it thats broken.
Shadow Claw, Water Shurkien, And Hydro was way more broken before current hydro cannon pokemon came into game
Hopefully they just buff some counters to it
Ninact should buff Blast burn and frenzy plant to be hydrocannon clones.
And hydrocannon needs a nerf to 50 cost and increased damage to a 100.
sucker punch meowscarada would be interesting to take a look at 🤔
Been trying to make Decidueye work for a while, and was ecstatic about the Astonish buff. But it just seems to go down too quickly sometimes. Could it possibly get better with an energy buff on Spirit Shackle?
Shame about most of these.
I have a greninja in the ultra league i love(don't have much on my UL roster though) and it's still pretty squishy there. Water Shuriken is amazingly fun, night slash bait, boost, and then hitting a hydro feels fantastic
I just wish they introduced some bulky mon coz we are getting com day for those mon who are very squishy recently we only got one thats clodsire and we know he is ranked1 now so they should introduced something like that
Corviknight should be coming soon. Same typing as skarmory and will get drill peck to have a cheaper move to pair with brave bird
@@davidsk6567 we dont know the correct moveset yet what move can he get if he got steel wing than its waste so lets hope it will get a better fast and charge move
@@SameerAhmed-kn5dy we already know it's going to come with steel wing and air slash as fast moves. And then drill peck, brave bird and iron head as charge moves. Corviknight is in the game, just unreleased.
While steel wing isnt great, at least it will actually have a move it can get to with drill peck. The typing and supposed stay product is really what might make it good. Irregardless it would be a single move away from being good.
Give Skeledirge a STAB fast attack (sClaw/hex). Give Cinderace double kick/trailblaze or something. Quaquaval...; I dunno, feather dance?
incinerate is a stab fast attack
@@somerandomyoutubeuser1232 STAB **ghost fast attack, I meant. Ghost FA, burn & disarming, which is needed for dragons & dark.
Might sounds ludicrous but I hope I'll never have to use this thing as a meta pokemon as I find its design absolutely nightmarish
These new mons are no power creepers that's for sure lol
well, intelion has a higher attacks stat than mewtwo. guess you coud say they are power creeping when it comes to raids lol (at least compared to other starters).
@@nait5340 yeah I guess you could say it's kinda power creep just in a bad way
@@Pokebattleleague shadow intelion with hydro cannon woud be interesting. woud it oneshot most things? woud it survive long enough to even get there?
Are you keeping IVs for level 60? For example Umbreon and Talonflame max out below 2500 CP with perfect IVs. If there is level 60, maybe 5 15 15 would be 2500 CP.
@@tomleary4709 I usually keep stuff with zero attack and high defense and stamina so yes but it's not like I am planning for level 60, I just keep that stuff naturally
Rillaboom need a really good fast move to be decent in ML
Unless niantic makes a new fast move, the best it has in the main series would be mud shot
it learn some fast move that are in the game already, unless you say introduce a new move of thoase other move it can learn.
Why don’t you make this a series on the channel and have us do research and be like “hey analyze this mon, in the main series it learns x, y, and z”
Ya know watching this blows my mind why are there not tools for this in the game it’s nuts like the main series always has a stats page to see each individual mons stats and everything god this game is a slack ass man lag everywhere all kinds of glitches gets hacked by a discord app nerfs remote raids plus raids are just straight broken right now like wtf do they not have money to pay programers like wtf is actually going on they treat this ip like a joke and they just continue to get to do whatever what the actual hell man
Lolol mind you the main series games can be played on a toaster (ds series) holy like the longer I think the more things don’t add up whatsoever
Niantic should add another low cost NORMAL type move to the game to replace Body Slam. They have a pretty large pool to draw from. Slash, Retaliate, Double Hit, Fury Attack etc.
That could help Samurott, and a lot of others who need to attack fast before dying.
Blastoise need shadow claw
cant learn that in main series and GO is follow main series....
It can learn mud shot, but they nerfed it 😅
Hey
Nerfing razor leaf was absurdly stupid
Na victreebell was insanely stupid
@@bryce37521victreebel never needed razor leaf after it got magical leaf. So it just screwed all of the other pokemon that were just okay with razor leaf.
@@absolutelyunepic3072They need better fast moves. Old razor leaf was BS. Should've been nerfed sooner 🤷♂️
