Love this video. I didn’t either consider the ground rules thing, although it is very common sense. I’m looking forward to letting my kids have some freedom on an upcoming Disney cruise but I surely wouldn’t want them going in someone else’s room or being disruptive in any way so I’ll make sure to lay out some rules before we go. This video was very helpful!!
That’s why we made this video, so glad you found it useful! To paraphrase Spider-Man, with freedom comes great responsibility, haha! Cruising works for us because of the freedom kids can have. Having a few ground rules just makes it a better trip for everyone, including the other passengers. If enough parents watch this, maybe no teen will ever misbehave on a cruise again!!! Haha
I'm 15 and actually prefer not to have wifi. I have my phone, yes. That is for only photos and videos though. I'd rather live with no wifi for 7 days then have it because I feel like it's always sooo much better just to put it down and live in the moment. And if anyone my age is seeing this and uses your phone at restaurants or on vacations a LOT, put the phone down and enjoy the time then
@@Jackwafflez Right?? And I live in Texas where there is actually a fair amount of actual untouched nature surrounding the houses so that’s a nice touch.
Thank you for this! So grateful to have found your channel. I’m starting to research Alaska cruises for us to take with our teen and since neither of us has cruised since we were teens in the last century, a lot has changed! I guess my instincts about Cunard were right. Love your ship tours and dry humor as well.
There are usually meet ups scheduled for 18 to 21-year-olds onboard most cruise ships. Our son’s friend has just come back from a cruise to Iceland, and said she really enjoyed meeting the other 18-21 year olds onboard. We definitely recommend giving cruising a try. Thanks for watching!!!
I would also suggest an eSIM If you are on an itinerary that has lots of port days it can be a lot cheaper to add than roaming You can chose country / region or even a worldwide one
Wishing you your next 110 subscribers fast! Really helpful! Planning our first cruise this summer and I hadn't even thought what ground rules we might need to consider! Mine is much younger than yours but will take all the independence she can get. Definitely going to follow your advice on the not being in other peoples' rooms rule! I'd love to hear more about how you plan on shore activities without relying on daily excursions.
Facebook groups for your specific cruise (cruise line, date, ship, itinerary) are almost always there, and tend to be full of tips from people who’ve been to the ports before. We also do a lot of research on TH-cam about the ports. And sometimes, if we like an excursion, we’ll do some digging and find another provider or book it direct to save money!
My 16 year old son didn’t like the Teen Club on the Disney Magic. He’s more into sports. So he spent the cruise playing basketball and he LOVED it! I knew where to find him when ever we weren’t together. He made some good friends and we were paired with one of the friends and his mom for dinners every night. Excursions, Dinners, Shows and Movies were our time to spend together. Other than that, we each had our time to ourselves.
Book as far in advance as you can! (Years, not months). And we never go through travel agents… we just keep checking the cruise lines’ websites almost daily!
Great tips for cruising with teens. Mine will be 14 when we do our second (first ‘long’) cruise in April 2025. It will only be me and him on the Carnival Celebration from Miami. Although we live in the UK and have been travelling the world since he was 3months old, this will be a very different holiday. Do you know if this cruise is a good one for teens? And if they have the in-app messaging too? Last time we went to Canadá and USA, I had an e-SIM card, and I hope I’ll be able to use it then as Wi-Fi is extremely expensive! Anyway, thanks for the video!❤
👋🏼 Hello. Your Alaska cruise popped up this morning and I’ve watched about 4 of the vlogs. I’m in Anchorage and am thoroughly enjoying what you’ve presented. I’m the same way with my kids (although they’re now in their mid 40s). My daughter and I sail next on the Sun Princess around the Mediterranean in August. ⚓️ I’m subscribed. 👍🏼😃
Hi Belinda! Your comment has MADE our DAY! I mean, 4 vlogs in a row? We are touched. We’ll be in the Med in August too (Anthem of the Seas)… we go most years, and we just know you’ll love it. Particularly on a ship as new as the Sun. Thanks so much for your kind words, and hopefully we will see you around!!!
You’re a sweet couple and a breath of fresh air these days. 🤗. So funny that I’ve been looking at the Bliss to do another Alaska cruise. I’d like to go to Icy Straits (I have 6 deposits to use 😜). Enjoy the Anthem. We’ve done Ovation and Quantum and loved them both. My daughter’s been to Europe but will be my first. Our 2020 cruise there was cancelled along with the whole cruise world. 😔🙏🏼 Thank you and yes, maybe we’ll see you and your teens out there on the deep blue sea. ⚓️
Ha ha ... just realised I should tell you my 7 year old has figured out how to use the drinks carrier I bought after viewing one of your videos. Her verdict: this is great, you can stay at the sun lounger and I will go get all our drinks all by myself. (Like I said - independence😂)
Sure! There was more stuff our two could attend with us, rather than them being in Teens Club (which they could also go to) while we were stuck in adults only activities. I think it depends on whether a parent sees cruising as a break away from their teens, or a break WITH their teens. We’re in the latter camp, but there’s nothing wrong with the other point of view either!
That depends on the boys! We’re going on the Beyond next summer and they’ll be 18 and 16… they’re really looking forward to it! There was definitely a good mix of ages when we were on Celebrity before… hope you have an amazing cruise!
Depends on the cruise line, and where in the world it is docked/sailing… but our son agrees! 17-21 can feel very ‘in between’ - but there’s always enough stuff going on that you’ll have a great time!

@@AOSMAKAKMS yea, it’s sad. I prefer to go up in the mountains then go around the suburbs

This was fantastic! We are considering taking our first cruise with our 18 and 21 year old daughters.

great video, finally i understand the celebrity internet thing. I am about to take to teens to a celebrity.
Thanks! Have a great cruise!!!
WB Bump! This is a great idea for a channel, I will take notes!
Thank you SO SO much for your support! Good luck in the comp!

I’m going on my first cruise with ovation of the seas I have a 14 year son do they need to register in club and where to they do that thank you
We haven’t been on Ovation, but we’ve been on Anthem (and the answer was yes - they do it in the club itself on embarkation day)
Thanks all this is very helpful, sailing in a few weeks with 2 teen boys, I'm nervous about it.
No need to be nervous, you will all have a blast! Where are you off to?!

Can you talk more about why Celebrity is your favorite cruise line while traveling with teens?
