Now, this practice is so heavily frowned upon that even content from other countries is censored to remove the practice, even if it isn't blatant. They shouldn't have been expelled even if it was blackface. Schools should have no authority to dictate a student's personal life, and that includes punishing them for things they do in their personal lives.
@@thelgiver5844 I don’t think that’s what the person is saying. Just that regardless of what you do or believe personally it shouldn’t reflect on what you’re allowed to do, even if traditionally actions such as blackface are offensive. Let’s say a black student decided to make an edgy joke in his personal life by putting on white paint or some such and calling himself a white person, that doesn’t mean the school should have authority on expelling on grounds for something like that. When the school has the ability to do so then groups of people are able to pressure the school to adhere to a decision. Like in this story, it didn’t matter if they were actually wearing blackface or not what mattered was the perception. Because of this perception, groups were able to pressure the school regardless of what actually happened to get him expelled because they KNOW the school is able to do so on those grounds.
Well historically "blackface" on stage wasn't just someone wearing black makeup to portray a black person rather than hire a black actor. It was done by those who were so racist they would never hire a black actor in the 1st place & the makeup done a particular way of doing it with the appearance of giant lips too in a horrible almost non-human caricature, & then the actor would act very stupid & so on. It was CLEAR intent to make light of slavery & imply all black people were imbeciles not good for anything other than serving others. It was obvious intentional racism. But now everyone has taken the definition of blackface so far that even kids that want to dress up like Michael Jackson for Halloween can't use makeup to darken their skin without being accused of doing blackface. ☹️
If i was a principal i would have accepted them Because what they did happened years before applying for the school and it doesn't matter to me what the students do outside of school because I can't just spy on them

The history of black face is the reason why it is offensive
Because the opposite doesn't exist I think
Because whiteface doesn’t exist? But even if it did, it would still be unfair for people to get expelled over face masks.
whites constantly trying to be pseudo victim is hilarious
It's insane how they set precedent for expelling students based on how they're PERCEIVED by others regardless of what they were actually doing...
I don't understand this whole blackface issue, must be an American thing. Americans are overreacting on everything.
Democrats are most sensitive about social identities and other cultural offenses
It was once used by White Actors to imitate African Americans in an offensive manner during a time when African Americans were underrepresented. Now, this practice is so heavily frowned upon that even content from other countries is censored to remove the practice, even if it isn't blatant. The best example is the Pokémon "Jynx," who had its face recolored from Black to Purple in the English version of the Anime and the Translated Trading Cards, where it stuck with the Original.
@@SeaDog1667-1stLiterally why would you still care about that. If you do that in a racist way, you're racist, just like how if you do anything in a racist way you're racist, but I don't understand why people are blocking quite an important step in racial equality by being such snowflakes, if black people can paint their face white, white people should be able to paint their face black. And yet everyone assumes someone is racist for doing so 🙄, just shows you how judgemental and hypocritical the BLM movement is.
It is. Like I fully get why actual minstrel show style blackface is offensive, but at this point, Americans will see anything as blackface and act like it's the same as the minstrel show stuff.
If hating blackface is an "overreaction" then i can only imagine what kinda society you come from

They shouldn't have been expelled even if it was blackface. Schools should have no authority to dictate a student's personal life, and that includes punishing them for things they do in their personal lives.
Huh???
So you're ok with blackface?
"Ah, there you are grandson"👴🏻
@@thelgiver5844
I don’t think that’s what the person is saying.

@@bugdrinkkpeople complained about blackface in movies/shows like Little Britain and Come Fly With Me
Well historically "blackface" on stage wasn't just someone wearing black makeup to portray a black person rather than hire a black actor. ☹️

Ppl should learn to keep their lives private. Every moment of life doesn't need to be posted online.
I agree with you there, but even then, conclusions shouldn't be jumped to in scenarios like these. Honestly, it wasn't a great idea to begin with that they posted the picture, since it could have a bad look. Regardless, lots of folks have done it, and the fact the school took something from a couple years ago to use it against a couple of students is absurd.
Ok now, think properly and tell me how they were supposed to know that them posting a picture of them wearing acne masks would lead to them being framed for blackface 3 years later.
