  • In a significant step towards a greener future, AS SCAN has joined a pioneering Power-to-X (PtX) project in Denmark.
The power-to-x project, led by Skovgaard Energy, is set to construct the world's first dynamic PtX plant, located on the west coast of Denmark. AS SCAN will have the responsibility of assembling the plant and manufacturing pipes and structures, a critical role that leverages our experience within complicated technical projects.
The PtX plant is a game-changer in the energy industry. It will convert surplus electricity from wind and solar energy into carbon-neutral ammonia, which can replace conventional fossil fuels. The plant will rely solely on renewable energy sources, making it a unique project in the green energy sector.
Six wind turbines and a 50 megawatt solar power plant will provide the energy that will be transformed into liquid green ammonia. This green ammonia can be used as a sustainable fuel source, significantly reducing carbon emissions and contributing positively to the environment.
"With this project, we get to work with a technology that contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions" said a Michael Vejlgaard, Managing Director at AS SCAN. "Our role in the assembly of the plant is crucial, and we're proud to be a part of this innovative project."
The plant is expected to produce 5,000 tons of green ammonia annually from 2024, potentially reducing CO2 emissions by 8,200 tons per year. This aligns with both the Danish and European climate goals, making the project an important step towards a sustainable future.
