I absolutely love Dave. It was a true godsend. He got kicked out the band because we would never have a mega death. I love, absolutely love Megadeth that music was a huge deal to people like me going through group homes. Being on the run, it was a part of our soul, and it lifted us, and carried us through the hardest times in our lives
Well first he was asked a question about it. Secondly he watched as Metallica became the biggest band in the world with Kirk getting the credit as the creative talent for music he created. So yea you'd be a little salty too if hundreds of millions of people world wide spent 15 years wrongfully labeling your music as made by the person who replaced you. We know this is the case too because Kirk first auditioned for Metallica by playing the solo for Seek and Destroy, so clearly some of the songs were written by the time he joined.
Megadeth was as huge in my childhood as metallica was. I appreciate Dave as much as I did metallica. Those are years indelible in my personal universe and I would do it all over again of given the chance.
I’m actually glad it went the way it did, cus now we have both bands that we can enjoy. However i will say that I do believe Dave is a better guitarist than Kirk
He is who he is. Bitterness is part of his personality. He used it throughout his art. He is a respected guitarist and songwriter. Without him, there would be no Metallica. And he wrote a good number of songs with Megadeth that will live forever.

I think Dave knows that it would’ve been quite impossible for Metallica to not use any of his music, Dave was in Metallica from 81’ til 83’, that’s a lot of gigs and they also had a demo recorded during his time, hence his music was Metallica’s music, I understand the personal side of it but I also get that these guys had established themselves and they couldn’t just throw away their material. I Think in the end things worked out for the best, We have 2 great Metal bands because of the outcome.

@@arsenalfanrichi Agree, and I generally agree that Hetfield and Ulrich did Mustaine dirty with the way they fired him, but it sounds like the firing itself was totally justified. If it was only about the money, Mustaine should have hired an attorney to sue Metallica for royalty payments. They’re all smart businessmen; I’m sure they could have come to an agreement. That said, simply contributing a riff or solo is often not enough to be credited as a writer on a song. Mustaine was in fact given writing credit for a number of Metallica songs, but I’m not sure if he was ever paid for any of it. The funny thing that people don’t realize is James (Metallica singer) and Dave buried the hatchet several years ago and are friends now. If you look up James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine they are always together, there’s pictures of them with kirk, of James and Dave touching knuckles, of James and Dave shredding together on stage. The Metallica and Megadeth feud only lives on today through fans, not the performers. James and Dave look like they get along together very well.
Read the autobiography and you’ll see the music he had was brought from his former band Panic. I had band member leave my band and steal riffs from me and play them, and call it his own. Let’s just say the past is the past.

The bassist left too. That doesn’t mean all his bass lines should leave with him. He was paid to play and everything he did for the band stays with the band. Although those are his bass line he cannot play them in another band.
Same applies to Dave.
Mustaine is a better guitar player than anyone in Metallica and Megadeth has one of the best metal drummers ever !!!
I agree n his voice is way better too. Js. 🤘🏻🔥🫶🏻
Not bitter…. Still banging on about it, 30+ years later
@@DaleDenton-ov5pgKirk did not get credit for Dave's work it's absolute nonsense
I'M NOT BITTER!!! 😡 💢 😡 💢
If someone fucked with your money, I'm sure you'd be pissed. No one works for free
@@wilfredoesqueda Yea lucky that didn't happen though
Megadeth was as huge in my childhood as metallica was. I appreciate Dave as much as I did metallica. Those are years indelible in my personal universe and I would do it all over again of given the chance.
I’m actually glad it went the way it did, cus now we have both bands that we can enjoy. However i will say that I do believe Dave is a better guitarist than Kirk
I don't think he's over it at all
I saw Megadeth play last year and the way Dave interacted with the crowd you could just tell that he’s a good person
He is who he is. Bitterness is part of his personality. He used it throughout his art. He is a respected guitarist and songwriter. Without him, there would be no Metallica. And he wrote a good number of songs with Megadeth that will live forever.
I love you Mustaine ❤
His story has changed numerous times over the years.
Doesn’t matter. Everyone knows that he wrote the first 4 Metallica albums. He’s just being humble here. ✌️
@TikuVsTaku lmao
@@metalmikejr
It’s a common knowledge, mate. Have a good one! ✌️
@TikuVsTaku you're joking right? You're trying to be funny?
@@metalmikejr
Not at all. ✌️
Love the humbleness of Dave now.
Kicked out when he was 20? So he’s lived that whole lifespan twice over again since? And spent those 4 decades becoming a multimillionaire rockstar? Nobody MegaGrudges like MegaDave! 😂
He was asked a question and answered it . He's not lying about anything
What a stupid take
So when people interview him and ask about this topic he should answer: "No, I can't answer your question and never talk about this otherwise @cloke32 will make fun of me on youtube comments"
Why are you hating? I don't get it, he was asked and he answered and the facts are the facts. I think most people would feel the same way in his shoes, I think I likely would
@@frv1995 He doesn't have to whine and lie when he answers a question.
It’s cool that he went on to do well himself. I saw him and his family in Coronado, Ca in 2000 when he came into a coffee shop I worked at. He was in board shorts and flip flops with his wife and kids and he was cool and definitely a family man. 👍🏻
Joe with that usual level of show prep we've all come to expect. "Really? You and Metallica argued over songwriting credits? I had no idea..."
he's always high idk why anyone puts up with his shit
I love this musician he can be proud of his hard work ❤❤❤
As a guitar player I know that Dave is a way better lead player than Kirk. Don't get me wrong I love Kirk Hammett but I know his style of playing is a lot sloppier than Dave and Dave I more technical. It is what it is.
Kirk is not as technical but his work is just as good
You must not have heard the solos on Blackened, And Justice for All, Dyers Eve, Freyed ends of sanity, Disposable Heros, and countless others. Because if you did and knew anything at all about music, you'd understand that Kirk Hammet is no joke
@@jesseharrington797 I've been playing Metallica and Megadeth for 30 years and know for a fact that Dave's solo's are far more technical than Kirk. Kirk trem picks which to the ear of someone who isn't a guitar player sounds good but is sloppy. Back in AJFA on the recordings just shows what you good engineer can do in the mixing of the record, live you can see and hear how sloppy kirk's playing is. Don't get me wrong Kirk is as accomplished as most being trained by Joe Satriani. How long have you been playing guitar for?
@@jesseharrington797 Just adding to my last comment, have you heard Kirk's solos of 72 season and Dave's solo's of The sick the dying and the dead, theirs no comparison.

At least he made one of the best bands ever! Happy to seen you 25 years ago live! 😊
Priorities are spot on. ✌️
I know that's right 👍 Dave in that order such a legend 😎🎶🎵🎸🎤🤘🤟🔥🔥❤️🔥♥️
He has calmed down and changed a lot since those days
His bibliography was a great read but alcohol was a massive part
Damn. Dave really has grown a lot as a person.
Left.. You mean got kicked out?
51 and been listening and will continue to listen since '88 with So Far.. So Good.. So What?!
So glad he got booted from Metallica. Megadeth is the GOAT
I’m a big metallica guy, but I’ve heard mega death is great. Any song suggestions for me to get into megadeath?
@@Gavintorres rust in peace whole album is pretty much perfect should listen to that album

@Gavintorres Definitely Rust In Peace, it's amazing and has only bangers on it. It's my second favorite metal album of all time
Well, Mustaine sounds like a goat when he tries to sing.
Dave is the man, i was lucky to them reunite at 930 here in DC and was only a few rows back of people from stage and they melted my face off, played the whole rust in peace set.
Dave is awesome!
Saw them live last year... absolutely amazing
Megadeth 🤘 👍
When he dies theres gonna be a hologram of him bitching how he got kicked out of Metallica, so that anyone wont forget it.

This is the og first verse for 'My darkest hour' before Dave Ellefson re-wrote certain parts.
Whining of destruction, whining bullets, holy whining... The whining due, whining of souls, addicted to whining, whining of consequences, symphony of whining, in my darkest whining, whining again, whiningtopia, whining no prisoners, and after 30 years... Whining in peace.
Yes getting kicked by so called “friends” will do that to you in addition to the fact that because of that decision he missed out on generational wealth that youll never fathom in your lifetime
Or maybe interviewers need to stop asking him about Metallica so you guys can stop crying that he talks about Metallica? 🤔 😂
It's not always easy to find what makes you happy in this life, but when you do, your world is forever changed.
Dave didn't leave Metallica, he was kicked out
I think Dave knows that it would’ve been quite impossible for Metallica to not use any of his music, Dave was in Metallica from 81’ til 83’, that’s a lot of gigs and they also had a demo recorded during his time, hence his music was Metallica’s music, I understand the personal side of it but I also get that these guys had established themselves and they couldn’t just throw away their material. I
Think in the end things worked out for the best, We have 2 great Metal bands because of the outcome.
When you bring your creative efforts to a collaborative process such as a band, the products belong to the collaboration, not the individual contributors. This is true of any art form where people work together to produce a result. Want to own all your work? Then you have to do EVERYTHING yourself.
The point is the others get paid for that stuff and he doesn't. Collaborative processes should result in collaborative royalties.
I honestly don’t think Mustaine cares at this point, but interviewers can’t help but keep picking at that scab.
@@arsenalfanrichiHe got paid from day 1

Ytf are you trying to get by with bs? Mustaine wrote the most palatable song on their demo/debut and wrote one of their biggest fan faves alone.
What an amazing person, really. It's just money, he cares about his family. He did his thing!
Yall created that together, just bc one guitar part was wrote by him doesn't mean the other didn't contribute or do it way better
It’s not emotion, it’s just facts and business.
But Metallica would never do that.
Lars really cares about the right people getting payed😏 himself…

Dave is a good guy and I respect him a lot.
It’s nice to hear him talk about how money is just money
Family is more important ❤
He says that now.
Dude was young, got promised something, discovered the ppl he thought he could trust to have even a basic level of honor, decency, and trustworthiness... Ppl whine "he holds a grudge"... Who wouldn't have been bothered by something like that? On the other hand there's a difference between holding a grudge and interviewers continuously asking him this question and Dave giving an honest answer being assumed to mean he's holding a grudge by people listening to the interview.
He's retelling a story based on facts that happened because he's asked a question. It doesn't mean he harbors resentment or is bitter over it, lol. It seems some people can't tell the difference and might be projecting a little bit.
No one ever mentions "disposable heroes" ! Such a great intro!
is that the song he's talking about?
@@redbeardedberserker absolutely not, Dave did not write any riff from MOP. Disposable Heroes is a masterpiece from James, Lars, Kirk and Cliff.

I dont think this guy will ever be over it ,no matter how well he has done for himself ,losing your best friends hurts !
He seems to be chronically surly. Lighten up dude, you’re rich, accomplished and living the dream.
sure but it must be annoying that 100% percent of the interviewers keep bringing up the situation. even if he has left it behind it would still be annoying to still have to talk about it. the story isnt going to change.
You need to go through something like this before making surly
The funny thing that people don’t realize is James (Metallica singer) and Dave buried the hatchet several years ago and are friends now. If you look up James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine they are always together, there’s pictures of them with kirk, of James and Dave touching knuckles, of James and Dave shredding together on stage. The Metallica and Megadeth feud only lives on today through fans, not the performers. James and Dave look like they get along together very well.
