This is so good! Will watch again to make sure i got it all.
It would be helpful if you talked more about discernment on letting things go, picking them up again, choosing between good things
A good resource for all things homesteading is The School of Traditional Skills. You might be a good addition to their instructors. They usually have a free summit in the fall. They also have memberships.
Great information on how to care for and milk the goats!
We LOVE our goat milk! No goaty taste at all! My husband picked up some raw cows milk when he was out of town for work. He called and said it was good, but our goat milk was way better! Yum!
An EXCELLENT teaching video. Thank you for this. Blessings.
So much information, what a blessing!
As we had a lunch break from schooling today, we sat and watched you milkyour goats. My first batch of sourdough for bread sitting on the counter, hopefully doubling! I am fully prepared for this first loaf to fail 🤣 lol. I've made pancakes and cinnamon buns, but bread has intimidated me. Your video on that was encouraging though, so I finally tried with your recipe. I won't lie, I'm also making a breadmaker yeast loaf as a backup.
Thank you so much for continuing to invest in this little community you've built!!
Awe, that's awesome! I hope your sourdough works for you!
My sourdough bread (your recipe from the blog) was AMAZING. My family absolutely loved it and the texture was *chef's kiss* heavenly. I honestly can't believe I had success my first try! Thank you♡
smart about the bacteria and to strain the first bits. This was fun. Milking goats reminds me of the Shirley Temple movie Heidi when she learns how to milk a goat. It is how I learned how to milk as a child, so that when we went to a farm to try milking cows, all the kids struggled but I did it right away hehe. Learned soooo much here today. I have always wanted goats. They are silly.
I loved that movie!! Goats are fun, Nubian's are not the most fun to have and watch as pets, but they are sweet!
Goats are fun! We raise ours for meat and not dairy since we have a cow but I really enjoy having and raising them.
I just love goats! Unfortunately, I live in a subdivision and I'm sure my neighbors would object to me having a goat. I did have the chance to go to a friend's farm some years ago and got to watch her milk her goat. It was highly entertaining. The milk...delicious! This was such a great video! ❣
I love milking season is upon us! I love our goat milk and making all the things! Thanks for this content! Enjoy your goats!
Thank you!!
You inspire me so much. The wisdom you have is so amazing. Ty so much for sharing it with us. This was the best information I've seen on goats yet. I've seen a lot of videos. Ty Shayla.
You are so welcome, thank you for letting me know this!
Sooooo good!!! Thank you!!!!
You're welcome!!
Thank you for posting this video 🎉❤

slow & steady wins the race
I love that saying too! It's one of my favorites!
Thank you so much for all the good information! I think I want goats but I’m very intimidated that I could do this. We are still in an HOA so I’m wanting to learn all I can til when we get land some day. Can you tell me what kind of goats y’all have and how old they are? Also how will you get them pregnant again, will you get a buck? Why goats over a cow?
Thanks for being so encouraging in your videos. I’m proud of you and all you do!
Hello! We have 2 year old Nubians. We intend to rent a buck when they go into heat later this summer 😊.
We chose goats over a cow for a few reasons. You can read more about why in my blog post which might be helpful to you!

Taking ANOTHER rain break🙃.....100% on the devotional portion, Shayla. I get very frustrated with people trying to raise ANY kind of livestock with little to no knowledge. Running an incubator & meat chickens are the things that get me personally peeved. I can't tell you how many times I have spoken with folks who think they can just plop eggs in an incubator & walk away. It is popular out here for teachers in classrooms to do this! Well, a teacher does not LIVE in the classroom - the incubator spends more time unattended than supervised. I have heard horror stories of janitors accidentally unplugging incubators 3 days before hatching, power outages right before hatching, etc...(and then there are living birds that are NOT going to live in a classroom so they get foisted off on families that have no experience raising animals) My uncle decided to toss a bunch of eggs in one. He put them in an egg carton & flipped them end to end 2xs a day. They NEED to lay on their SIDE, or the mother hen would have laid a cube, not an oval! He didn't watch the humidity or temp. It sat in a bedroom unattended all day. out of 20 eggs only 3 hatched & 2 were deformed. One chick survived & he didn't want to deal with it being in a tote with a lamp, so he put it in the regular chicken run & the Hens KILLED it; mangled it to be exact. I know people that try to raise meat birds with little information on how touchy the cornish cross breed is. They leave them all day, without shade, water, supervision. they try to put them in with layers (I did this 1x & boy did I learn a lesson there - none died thank goodness, but it was not good & I felt awful!). Anyone I advise I tell, "these are living, breathing creatures. They need care, attention, and you MUST know what you are doing otherwise you are causing unnecessary suffering & wasting a ton of money." I don't care that I am going to eat these chickens in 8 weeks. The whole reason I do what I do, is to not contribute to the suffering of an animal during it's lifespan. I feel that God has called me to raise livestock & I take the dominion & care of His creation SERIOUSLY. When something goes wrong on my farm, I feel terrible. I won't ever have goats but this was still an awesome video to watch & a very sobering devotional.
Thank you Patty, for sharing. I love reading your comments, you have so much knowledge to share!
❤️❤️❤️
Do you have any chicken videos like this? We live in a neighborhood but I’m hoping to get backyard chickens with a tractor I can move around.
Hello! I will consider doing one of these, thank you for the suggestion!
