I’m so happy I found your channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. How do you store your molds and blanks? Do you put them together? Should they be covered with plastic wrap or in a bag to prevent scratches and dust? Or does the silicone mold have to ‘breathe’? I’ve heard that you can add ground up silliness from projects gone wrong to the poured silicone to take up some volume and save money. Have you ever done this? Any thoughts? Great tip about putting the volume info on the blank covered with tape! That’s going to (hopefully) stop a lot of annoyance for me!!! So good. Thanks again.I will continue going through your mix now😉
I store my blanks individually inside zip locks to protect them from scratches. Each is placed inside a storage drawer single. Layer (never stacked). Molds are bagged up and stored in storage drawers in even layers and can be stacked as long as they are completely flat (dont want bent molds) you can absolutely add ground (clean) silicone into fresh mixed silicone. Silicone sticks to itself.
Hi I just found your video I'm so impressed. Do you sell your molds?. I'm interested in the Creative and Neat. Mold you did it's really beautiful would love to buy one so you have a store?.
Excellent! I have some mold materials from the same company. It's good to see someone working with the how-to on the buckets so I won't wonder what to do when I get around to messing with them. I have a vacuum chamber too.very informative!
I make molds using acrylic blanks and I do have a blank with etching on it and I just pour my silicone on the blank, I never had a issue doing that way.
Great video ❤️ I've been working with resin since 2008, started with something as simple as sealing & doming bottle cap bows & necklaces for my girls & worked my way up. It's truly addictive. I'd love to learn how to make character molds as well as molds like these but have yet to find a tutorial 😭😭😭
I watched the blank making and this one. Thank you so much. I've always tried to wrap my brain around the process. Got my hubby to watch. He wondered if you're just selling the blanks and if so how much would this one be?
@@ClutterCamp thank you! I appreciate that. I miss things often but I do my best to answer the questions I had when I first started to think about doing this.
Very helpful video. Only second one I've seen. Gotta say it kind of sucks keeping the coloring of the mold to yourself. Won't stop me from watching more vids though. 😁
Yes there are very fine endentions around the edge. But with other methods like 3d printing there are texture drawbacks as well. You really don't notice these if you are careful to line them up.
Wow! I. So glad I ran across your video! Excellent! I watched how you made your blank and then this one! You are a great teacher/instructor, thank you so much! I am subscribing to your channel and am looking forward to your projects! Thanks again! 💜💜🙋Pam Oh btw, which engraver/machine do you have? Thanks 🎶
Hello beautiful work Are there any other techniques to add words or designs to silicone molds, if you don't own a Glow forge machine. I want to try and use cut vinyl letters because I want it to be an impression and not deep You're the only person I have seen making a video close to what I am trying to achieve 🤔😞😭😩
Hi. I’ve binged all watched all your videos, especially this one. Just got a glowforge and having a difficult time finding a setting for non proof grade that engraved the acrylic deep enough that will look good on molds. Any tips?
There are different kinds of acrylic. If using non proof grade check out the community forums on the Glowforge website. There are many people sharing thier settings and knowledge for non proof grade. I use proof grade acrylic so I can't really help you there. I wish you the best of luck.
If you want a rounded surface might be better to go with a 3D print and make a mold of that. I don't own a 3D printer so I can't give you more info than that.
I have read about people buffing scratches out of acrylic but it's a painstaking process of using finer and finer git mediums then several buffing mediums. It can be done but I'm not sure that's all possible inside of a mold blank. Their process was done on flat pieces. But if your mold blank is already scratched and ruined beyond use then it can't hurt to try.
I use the Glowforge HD engrave settings for my blanks. Takes longer but the image clarity is worth it for a high quality mold. Not sure what those setting are but you may be able to Google it.
Ok so let think about this in terms of a cup full of water. The water would be how much resin is needed to fill a mold and the cup is the amount of silicone needed to make the mold. The amount inside is different than the total amount of the cup if the cup were melted down into a liquid blob. Does that help visualize for you? I hope I explained that right.
Most platinum cure silicone will degass on their own. Tin cure silicone does not degass and requires the use of a vacuum chamber to pull bubbles from it. Some use a vacuum chamber for the platinum cure as well just to be sure.
I don't clean them. I use a quality silicone that pulls free clean every time. Then I carefully pack my blanks away each individually wrapped to protect them from dust and dirt.
try diycraftsupplies on Etsy. He also has a facebook group with the same name. When you go to Etsy in the search engine type in diycraftsupplies with no spaces and his shop will come up.
I have a dinner charger plate I want to duplicate 6 times or more to give to family. How will I go about that? Please help me. This is so important to me.
An infinite number so long as you carefully store and care for your blank. If your blank gets scratched or dirty (needing to be cleaned which introduces fine scratches) then you may have to make a new one.
@@ResinBelle No I’m in need of a large round and rectangular molds. If possible 24” in diameter. Like the agate coasters but I want the circumference to be a specific shape
@@altinokz ohhh I see. No I don't make mold blanks for others. Also 24" is larger than the Glowforge can cut so even if I did make specific molds for.others I wouldn't be able to make one that size.

I used to sell them until the price of silicone went through the roof and became hard to get. For now I don't make molds anymore.
Sadness , it's really beautiful ❤️

Thank you so much for sharing this!
Amazing
WOW! How beautiful! Thanks for the great video. Looks like. great way to make silicone molds for fondant too.
Amazing, I would love to see how the resin comes out from this mold
You can see it in use in my video Flowers In Resin. 😊
I make molds using acrylic blanks and I do have a blank with etching on it and I just pour my silicone on the blank, I never had a issue doing that way.
I think it depends on how deep the etch is. The one was pretty deep so I make sure I don't waste my silicone with this particular one.
Very nice 👍

If the acrylic sheet is layered, won't there be a mark on the edge of the line that will show the layering of acrylic?

Great video ! thank you ! How deep do you make your engraving, if I may ask - thank you :)
For the acrylic is that a deep engravement?
It's not super deep but it isn't just a light etching.
Can you use fine scratch remover like novus to remove scratches from the mold blanks?

Very nice, what's the name of the tool that you use at 9:10 ? that trims the edges of the mold

Is there a video to see how you changed the color
Can I ask if your used like a normal powder pigment to change the silicone color? (Like mica powder)
How do you clean your acrylic blank to make sure there’s no dust or hairs on it before pouring the silicone?
I use a can of spray air for use cleaning electronics. But also I store my blanks inside acetate bags to keep them safe from dust etc.
@@ResinBelle Thank you, that’s exactly what I’ll be using too! Your videos are so helpful!!!
What thickness is the acrylic sheets you're using? I want to do this but with a Cricut to do the etching.
I'm using 1/8" acrylic, but sometimes 1/4" acrylic. I didn't think you could use acrylic with a cricut.
Could you explain why is the amount of silicone needed different from the amount of resin needed ? Thank you.
How to get rid of bubbles in silicon?
Most platinum cure silicone will degass on their own. Tin cure silicone does not degass and requires the use of a vacuum chamber to pull bubbles from it. Some use a vacuum chamber for the platinum cure as well just to be sure.
How do you clean mold links to keep the glossiness?
I don't clean them. I use a quality silicone that pulls free clean every time. Then I carefully pack my blanks away each individually wrapped to protect them from dust and dirt.
I have an idea for a blank. Do you know where i can have someone make me one?
try diycraftsupplies on Etsy. He also has a facebook group with the same name. When you go to Etsy in the search engine type in diycraftsupplies with no spaces and his shop will come up.
Where did u get the the liquid mold?
I buy it online from the manufacturer and they ship it to me. Do a Google search for Smooth On.
Do you have a link for that little cutting tool ?
The cuticle trimmer. I don't but you can find them anywhere. I got mine at dollar tree.
Where do you get your blanks.
I make them
Is there any molds you sell on amazon or someplace else, so I can purchase them, please?
I do sell on Etsy @ResinBelleMolds
I have a dinner charger plate I want to duplicate 6 times or more to give to family.
How will I go about that? Please help me. This is so important to me.
I don’t get it why is the font backwards?
Because inside the mold it will be mirror image basically. Once you pour resin inside the mold it will come out the right way.
How many molds can you make out of one mold blank?
An infinite number so long as you carefully store and care for your blank. If your blank gets scratched or dirty (needing to be cleaned which introduces fine scratches) then you may have to make a new one.
Please make a video on how to change the color if you havent already! would love to watch it

@@altinokz I don't make blanks not custom molds. The cost on materials is just too high for one. 11x19 is the max cut area in a glowforge
Isn't that copyright since it has the company name in the mold you made🧐
The company name isn't inside the resin-pour area so won't be on the finished piece.
I'd love to know how to change the color! I've been trying to find a video on that but no luck.
I would speculate it's done using something like Silc Pig. It's from Smooth-On, the company that makes Mold Star.
