Great job Zac! Beautiful pen!
OK, I found Chad this morning and he does make it look simple (?) Thanks for passing it on.
Thoroughly enjoyed the video and thank you for showing how easy it is.
That's awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed it. It is really simple, and I had to try it out after seeing Chad's video
Another great idea to create still more unique items. Thanks for sharing the idea and showing the technique Doc. Craig
Just another tool to stick in your tool bag of tricks =D
Nice work Zac! Watched Chads video a couple weeks ago and it peaked my interest as well. Looks super easy and fun! That one definitely should be in your collection! Thanks for sharing your build!
Thanks Mert! Yeah, Chad did a fabulous job on his video, I had to give it a shot! Can't wait to see what you make when you try it =D
That's a beautiful pen! Your video inspired me to go out to the shop and give it a shot. I made a blank out of walnut with a yellow heart segment between two black and white laminated in-lays. I put the segment on a 45° angle. I like the result. Thanks again for the video!
Thanks Zac. I enjoyed this video! Very nice results.
Thanks for checking it out, glad you enjoyed it Ellis =D
Very nice and looks easier to do. Thank you for sharing.
It's super simple to do, so glad Chad shared this method in his video. I couldn't help but try it out =D
Nice looking pen Zac. I picked and Awesome color for that, the segmenting looks really easy to do.
Thanks Doug!! You sure did the red really pops!! Yeah, that segmenting method is super simple, so easy even I can do it ;)
That pen looks insane! Great work, Zac!
Thanks for checking it out =D
Thanks for the video. It inspired me. Worked great and I’m definitely keeping mine :)
Great effect had never thought of using laminated plastic in a pen. Will have to try as have a few bits kicking around with no obvious use for them. Thanks for sharing👍🏽
My pleasure! I'm glad Chad made his video, he made the technique look so simple with really impressive results. I had to give it a shot =D
I'm still loving how the madrone blank turned out with the resin in its cracks. Gotta get my hands on one with purple instead of red.
Oh yeah, purple would be awesome!!
absolutely gorgeous
Beautiful pen
That's a beautiful pen!
Thanks Carol =D
Beautiful pen.

Thanks David =D
Thanks Zac, definitely going to do this!
It's so easy, but it sure does look pretty good =D
Zac Higgins just ordered a couple sheets of the aluminum stuff! Can’t wait!
Oh my Zac, what a lovely pen. Beautiful piece of wood. You keep it, its too lovely to give away. Thought you werent going to talk to us for a minute.....please take care and as always be safe
Thanks Val! I figured I'd give everyone a break from my babbling for most of it, gotta mix it up now and then =D
Zac Higgins 😂😂😂
Beautiful work, beautiful pen. First time on site, so what was the white mtl. you used first. Also, I don't know who Chad is or where his site may be.
Beautiful
Thanks Tony!
Very nice!
Thanks Brother!!
È bellissima ❤
Cool looking pen Zac. Going to have to try one of those Athens pen kits. Like the technique.
Thanks!! Yeah, I'm digging those Athens kits. I had never turned one, really sharp looking kit!
@@ZacHiggins See you are still using the abranet with zona paper. I switched to this recently after watching your video and it makes a difference. I always struggle with fine scratches after I think its good then put the magnifying glass on it. That technique helped a lot. Thanks again.
Top quality pens
Thanks Tony =D
Beautiful!!👏💞👏
Thanks Mary =D
The pen looks fantastic! Definitely a keeper. 😎👍
Thanks Ted!
I like it nice job
Thanks Phillip!!
Great video as always Zac! And the pen turned out beautiful. I just bought some segmenting material from Turners Warehouse (both sizes). What made you decide to use the bandsaw to cut it? Too much tear out with a table saw? Thanks!
I'm not sure, I just had the bandsaw set up with the little crosscut sled and went for it. You could use a table saw just as easily. I also have a SawStop, so I tend to cut metal things with the bandsaw rather than having to turn the brake off on the SS
@@ZacHiggins thanks. That makes sense. Especially the Sawstop part.
Where can I get a madrone burl blank?
What kit is that?
How did you remove the bushing after the ca finish? Didnt the bushings stick to the blank?
No, I don't run into that problem since I just put thin coats on
Caution on the engraving blanks - white-black-white plastic - it might have 1 or 2 peal off clear sheets on the outside to protect the surface. I have an engraver and a lot of material of all sorts of colors. It is an old style manual. Good luck and nice.
Great tip!
Beautifully finished!
How much would this pen sell for?
Why do you hold the carbide tool at an angle in the video?
lol, it's almost freaky to see something as small as a pen blank on your lathe. :-P
LOL I know, I actually thought I might still use the Comet still after I bought the Laguna, but the first pen I turned on the Laguna changed that. it's so rock solid, I have no desire to turn on any other lathe at this point :)
