The issue is the divide between capital (studios and producers) and labor. They are doing the same offshoring that Bill Clinton did. The policy must be to bring back all the jobs to the U.S. That means state and Federal are going to have to adjust tax incentives and deregulate. It would be nice to rein in the greed as well. Sure the financiers are taking the risk. Frankly a better business model is needed. Spielberg gets no money but he gets a percentage of the gross or net. That spreads the risk.

The reason is blatantly obvious. It’s a massive loss in talent, which is partly but not wholly driven by woke culture. It’s also driven by artificially lifting certain people (anyone but white Christians) into the film industry instead of using natural selection. Watch any movie from 1985, literally any movie. Then watch a critically acclaimed movie from the 2020’s. Mind boggling. Every movie now is cheap low IQ action thriller. Or cheesy victimhood drama or romance. Perverted low class dialogue and scenes. Low quality use of the English language. And everyone tries to use the same junk sarcasm for humor which is cringe-worthy.

Thank you for watching California Insider and giving your candid feedback. We are covering what is happening to the people who work in this industry... Most of the workers in this space have no control over the quality of the content.
@@California.Insider OK. So if that's true why isn't he yelling about the content of Hollywood sucking so badly that we don't want to see it or support it? THAT is what he should be saying if he is actually trying to support the workers on films. Buy he didn't. And it was not a mistake. And I'm very upset there was no push back on the content produced. No challenge that the slowdown is due to the content telling the populous is evil and should be hated and removed from our society. Neglecting of corse that this society was built by those same people. So that's an issue. No question as to the direction of the industry. What they keep pushing. How that is directly a result of the actual product those who make it. No self accountability is not getting my sympathy.
@@California.Insider Lastly look at the quality of the product itself. Lord of the Rings Trilogy was made in early 2000s. And nothing has come remotely close to that production value. And it wasn't made in the USA either. Today's films actually look worse while costing more. The quality has nosedive. The people who are better at making products get the money. We aren't anymore. Not remotely close.
Start producing positive family content and then I’ll consider purchasing your content. There is decent content on you tube that has much better meaning that what Hollywood is pushing out and it’s free!

What future are we leaving behind to the next gen? All good paying jobs are going overseas, AI, or Automation.
He’s advocating for his industry warning us about other countries that don’t share our values making films. That confuses me. He’s talking about an industry that’s been taken over by GLAAD, hard-core man-hating feminists, BLM, and the crazy environmentalists to force feed us their unhinged woke ideology. He has a compelling back story, but I’m still withholding my dollars until they start creating relatable, American-proud content.
Maybe I would give a fck if your industry stopped pushing Dei, feminist propaganda.
Also, this guy didn't say anything convincing. A lot of nothings.
Well, to be fair I was unaware that a Neutron Bomb had been detonated in Hollywood until he said it. 😉
Over bloating the industry, is due to the CCA's involvement and the continuous pushing of the propaganda, ideology adgenda of the bigger machine and apparatus at work.
@@bms9144 You obviously don't work in Hollywood. I am a 36 year year prop man veteran. I was an A list prop man, only 30% of us were working. It is not business friendly in Hollywood anymore. when people like Kamala Harris and Bass attack businesses to "Pay their fair share" they leave. the fair share was keeping everyone employed and making a product. Trickle down economics works. I was a Union rep for decades, we can't keep asking for better wages and not give producers tax incentives and a business friendly city and state. We have been under Democrat's control in this town for decades. Own up to the failure and change your voting habits.
@RandySeverino Randy, you are right I don't work in Hollywood. You are completely off base with my voting habits however.
The guest said it was like a "literal neutron bomb hit Los Angeles" because he doesn't understand the meaning of the word "literal" or just chooses to misuse it. So my comment was meant as humorous sarcasm of his mangling of English, and no more.
I left California to get away from the idiots you think I vote for. I am sorry for your misfortune, but the handwriting has been on the wall there for 20+ years. You should consider living somewhere else, especially if there is no work holding you there anymore.
Well isn’t this unusual. American workers who held an unassailable position in an industry that was the leader in its field. Think autos , manufacturing, and cinema.
You’ve only got yourself to blame and your obscene requirements for permitting . Your absurd wage and salary demands.

Welcome to the rest of the world competing on a global scale
It reminds me of the housing crisis and the first affected with job losses were the ones working in the housing industry. It took two years if not more for people to get on their feet and they lost everything. On the other hand the film industry started to push an agenda that most Americans disagree. Now he’s saying that it’s not political. Ha! Also the content is horrible starting with reality TV. I stopped watching regular programming more than a decade ago and now I chose what I want to watch thanks to streamline programming. Nobody likes to be fed content with an agenda. Hollywood had a huge platform that could have been used better. They have no idea the cultural impact they had on the rest of the world.

Getting tired of hearing Hollywood members/lobbyists complain about having to now work ordinary jobs: Uber, cleaners, grocers, hosts and waiters, plumbers, boot shiners, etc. --- so very privileged and entitled as to complain about labor others would kill to do. The first speaker is way more humble and aware, but the second guest doesn't even realize how arrogant and awful he sounds to us outsiders. Pretentious and disgusting.
Hollywood mostly consists of normal jobs.
@@bobbycrosby9765 Yes, but elitists like this guy don't represent those ordinary jobs; they represent the aristocracy of society: "woe is me!" My great-grandmother scrubbed floors for the wealthy. No one owes you a living. I was unemployed for half of 2020. It was abrupt and we should all be prepared just in case.
I've discovered Korean and Japanese movies/shows. They're better than Hollywood.
The best thing is, when US woke activists demand DEI, the Korean and Japanese companies say "what?"
So they focus on the story and acting.
These folks expect us to slop down garbage and praise them for it. The arrogance & entitlement is so thinly veiled. Write an original story that isn’t shoving a political agenda down our throats. Maybe try that for a change and see if more tickets sell? The belly aching from these tone-deaf industry people is nauseating…
Good riddins....Stopped watching Hollywood crap a long time ago. And now with the redundant bs propaganda. 🤮The rest of the world produces some great dramas, movies, anime. Stories are so much better. Characters so much better. I have never looked back. "Hollywood" culture has been nothing but rot for over 20 years.
AWESOME: After decades of ignoring foreign movies, companies like Amazon are finally betting on less expensive foreign productions. Having American film stars in a movie is loosing meaning. Why to have new movies anyway. There is more movies out there already that a person can watch in several lifetimes. Plus there are many other far better entertainment choices.
I have the perfect solution for these people. Apply at McDonald's. Learn to code. Get a real job. I work in the industry and I’m sorry, the blatant agenda in the writing is so bad it kills the story. No one wants to be preached to. Thats why I am making my own animated content that is entertaining instead of agenda driven. Also you dont fight tax credits with tax credits of your own. You penalize the studio more than the tax credits they receive. Tax payers shouldnt fund movie making. There is a better smarter way.

I've read today's Los Angeles described as another city of Detroit with better weather. Or maybe that should be updated to "another city of San Francisco without the fog." fwiw, the city of Detroit has been largely of the political left since the late 1950s. That's over half a century. The city of Chicago in the past 3 years has gone from a liberal mayor to a hard-left mayor. NYC has been a bit more of the opposite (from Bill DeBlasio to Eric Adams). Wash, rinse & repeat

Good job getting rid of the film industry I gave my blood sweat and tears for.
This problem started 25 years ago.
This is sad. That was a lot of justification for why we should care, but it's not going to change. And it is a political issue, blame Democrats.
New Mexico state said they are expecting lots of movies coming here in the state... whatever I think Hollywood and New Mexico Hollywood suck
Great show. Please do other shows on the film industry. Also please bring Patrick Caligiuri back.
Hollywood you gotta love it. Thay had 30 years just watching off shoring but did nothing. Didn't affect them. Did it now.
From the outside, the chaos of the "temporary film" industry that the industry holds in high regard... looks like poor planning that leads to inefficient use of resources and overstaffing. Its complicated, I get it, film isnt the only complicated process.
My family mainly watches pre-2018 movies now. Most recent content is DEI garbage, we just dont even let it in our home.
I am finding it difficult to have 'special' sympathy for this industry and it's unfortunate crew members. Many of us have gone through the same, or are still in dire straights (me)....just different industries or professions. When he talks about legislation regarding currency manipulation.....good luck with that buddy - I think you just went way out of your lane.
Maybe putting out content that's worth watching, it's been too many years since something good came out. I'm also disgusted of most celebrities, I won't pay to see them. This has nothing to do with wages, just blaming as usual.
Great interview

Another quote by Charlie: “A broadcaster has nothing if they don’t have innovation.” (Charlie won an Oscar for “Annie Hall.”)
