Mr. Williams, that is a wonderful telling of the legend. I would like to add a couple of things that you didn't mention. There was an earthquake that occurred in 1887 that was felt from Sonora to Phoenix. The local newspapers reported large dust clouds coming from the mountains. The mine that was named "Lost Dutchman Mine" had collapsed during that earthquake. He was never able to go back to that mine during his life. He died with all the gold he was able to retrieve from his last trip. The maps you were showing on your show we maps of the Peralta mines. They were not maps the Peralta's made, but made by people that travelled to and from the mines during their operations. There were 8 active mines during the time the Peralta's decided to leave the area. They had been warned of the pending attack and were attempting to get out before it happened. Unfortunately they didn't make it. The Indians were waiting for them. The Dutchman did find one of the Peralta mines. 2 of the mines were split off from the other ones which were clustered together. He found one of the mines split off. There is more to the story, but I do love traveling to the mountains and wonder what it must have been like to be alive during that time. Thank you for the wonderful video
Jeff, I like these videos when you travel to other locations. You've got to branch out of the cactus and tumbleweeds and make your way up to Cripple Creek! It's a really neat town. But then again, you did look for gold on the streets of NYC, so I can't complain.
+madwonderland we are trying to cover as much area as possible and we do have more vids that we know you will like but yes that location is on our list. Jeff and Slim
Hey Jeff. I went up to Mt Hoyt with the claim owner who thinks he's onto the lost Rhodes mine in Utah. I helped him dig out a cave entrance last month where he thinks the stash is. Legend has it that there's enough gold and silver bars up there to pay off the national debt.
I was in Goldfield back I think it was May 2006, took my granddaughter down to my daughter's wedding in Tuscan. We went down in the mine and heard the story of the honey pot.....and road a train through and heard about the mine there that filled with water when they hit a water table(or whatever he called it) and they couldn't keep it pumped out. We did the little panning shop, and grabbed an ice cream cone to cool off.
Wow that mountain looks incredible!!! And hmmmmm that foul play sounds really interesting if I were to go I'd definitely would want to investigate, and man ooooh man! These towns look too darn cool!
thanks Jeff for another great video. it kind of made my night, I was bored tired and about to go to sleep, and there's an email from you, thanks man now I'm going to sleep thinking about the Lost Dutchman mine and the curse not so bored guess I just needed something to think about. thanks Jeff and Nevada jack. tell mr. slim I say hello
+Nathaniel Whaley (EveEL Dragon) always our pleasure and thanks for watching and commenting. Glad to hear that. I will tell Slim Howdy for ya. Jeff and Slim
I've had that happen to me once while hiking along the Dutchman trail. I had stopped at one of the camp sites to rest for a bit. It was my second time there. While sitting on a log, I had the feeling that someone was watching me. I looked around and saw no evidence that anyone was out there. Being familiar with the history of the area, I figured that the feeling was a false feeling. Nothing happened and I finished my break. Then continued along the trail. Once I got about a couple of minutes from the camp site, the feeling went away. There is one possible theory on why this happens. The theory says that the Superstitions may have some negative energy vortexes that pop up and disappear randomly. Supposedly they are the same kind of vortexes that are said to exist around Sedona. The only differences being that the Sedona vortexes are stationary and that they are both of the positive and negative energies. The negative energies make you feel ill at ease. While the positive energies make you feel very good.
I saw part of that show. Some of those guys in that show took themselves way too seriously and were over dramatic. I suppose that's just Discovery Channel though.
@ask Jeff Williams you were in my back yard that's super cool man. I've spent a lot of hiking around the superstition mountains & let me tell you every time I go up there I always get a Erie feeling of someone watching my every move it's creepy but fun at the same time....
+Joshua Johnson hi joshua... so... people manage to travel around those mountains without asking the first nations if they can go up there. just curious
+DiyEcoProjects it's not on any reservation back in the day before reservations were brought to life the Apache Indians used to live in those mountains aswell as a few other tribes. But in today's world of times the superstition mountains is a recreational Park ran by the state no permission necessary except for buying a day pass from the state.... Google superstition mountains it will tell you all about it.....
Hi Buckskin Joe, I think Slim ditched you for the Superstition Mts. He'd probably be the lucky one to find "The Lost Dutchman Mine" being sort of died, he'd have no worries. Thanks for the many interesting treasure tales of the Superstition Mts. Say hi to, Silver Spurs Lila, Slim, and Pops. Take care.
+Steve Mazzara Hi Steve glad you liked it and we have many many more on the way just need to get them out there but have been super busy finding gold.We have another tour up at the Ranch in mid Oct. and not sure if we can make it up there for the 31st but we can always do Vegas at the rib and Chicken shack. Would love to see you both again even if just here in Vegas . Let us know what you think. Take Care the both of you. Jeff , Lila, Nevada Jack and Slim
i live 15 mins from this tourist trap. :D its interesting to see out siders view on it.. my dad worked with the women who owned it before he retired from the city of apache junction as a engineer.. small world. i like the mining tour.. last time i went the guy had quite a few to drink. heh.. was funny he try to make ou think you were going very far down.. but like maybe a foot in elevation you drop. its good to see people enjoy this place. it almost burnt down( well not really... i mean it could of and the owner was stressing.. but the fire fighters were doing there job.. i think it was in good hands from being burnt down couple years back do to a wild fire..)
+mdelgado1001 thanks and love that area very beautiful. Would have loved to announce our arrival but wasn't sure if we would be there and only had one day but we will be going back for a follow up and we will give a heads up on it. Jeff and Slim
Hint Jeff it was called the Bulldog mine in Apache Junction. i did some work there the brown hemitite in that area contains good quantity of fine gold. and the pink metamorphic granite rock makes good looking material for drive ways and sells for a good price. that is a load gold area
+Greg Ragland wow that sounds great there Greg I bet you have some great stories to tell about that area. If you ever feel like sharing some of them you can reach me at wwwexplorenevada@yahoo.com Jeff and Slim
Hey Jeff, Where's slim at? I betcha he would've enjoyed being there and you could've sent him to the lost mine (as a decoy) If he came back alive, then I would go up there!!! Great vid Jeff.... I enjoy them all brother!! Rod from KS
+R. “goldhead56” Schulz Thanks Rod and Slim won't go he is too smart to be tricked liked that but glad you liked the vid and thanks for the comments. Jeff and Slim
I worked near there last year at Whitlow Ranch down the 60. I wish I knew the history then. Doesn't look like they're sending me back this year. But if so, I'm still not going up that mountain. I didn't even take home some petroglyphs on rocks I found this year near Painted Rock. Bad juju. If I didn't make it, or if it's not gold, I'm leaving it where it lies
eh-I am very disappointed you have not provided any geological comments on these mountains. You have a most excellent knowledge of what type of rocks etc are likely to be gold rich areas. I am sure you would be able to shed some light on the reality of how gold rich this area really is.
Jeff n Slim... If hundreds if not thousands of miners have scoured the Superstitions, you'd think somebody probably found that gold and moved it or took it out by now.
As an Apache of chief Victorios tribe and brothersn Geronimo I give you permission to set foot on that mountain Jeff and slim. Find the treasure and distribute it among the people!
Well sunny Jim I see you got you hog leg on and got your canteen..You sure your not going up there looking for the gold mine??? And yes I do believe in superstitions.....You have a drone? Like to see what it looks like up there, from far away...
Hey Jeff, My lady and I are looking for a place to go on vaca in December, and I WANNA FIND SOME GOOOLD! I'm up in the Northeast and it's gonna be a little freezing up here to do any panning so I'm thinking about taking my pans and my woman and heading south or west. We'd like something with some beautiful scenery but not a lot of tourists STEALING OUR GOLD! Georgia and California seem to be pretty good spots in terms of gold recovered there, but I figured I'd ask the pro!
Checked the weather averages for December and hoo my it is nippy just about everywhere. Looks like southern California and southern Arizona are my only real choices. Would the counties neighboring Tuscon be any good? And sorry I'm askin' Slim too, I didn't forget about ya Slim!
***** Sweet!! You & Slim seriously have one of my favorite, most entertaining & educational channels. It puts a smile on my face every time a new video pops up in my feed. Thank you & take care!
Ive been near the location. it seems that climbing gear may be necessary. It was hard enough to carry what I needed to survive let alone what I needed to get to the mine. That's why they used mules.
+rob cammer Love those old episodes with Leonard Nemoy, The money pit is an interesting one and coral castle is good too with Edward Leedskalnin. He wrote a book called Magnetic current. The principles of. Good book too. Jeff and Slim
The people who are looking for this mine are just going by the legends to find it. To my knowledge none of them are panning the washes to see what can be found. Then follow that to the source. Seems to me that would be the best way to go about it. Anyway to me it seems to be pointless to try and find this mine. Arizona has closed this area to mining. No new claims are allowed to be filed. What mining you can legally still do in this area is greatly limited. It's a protected wilderness now. With camping and hiking being the only activities of any worth. With that said there are still some people who are still trying to mine this area. Some of it is likely to be the illegal kind. If caught by the authorities they would be facing some serious criminal charges. Those people tend to keep a low profile though and you aren't likely to come across them. The mysterious deaths of the early and mid 20th century doesn't happen anymore. The more recent deaths were the making of the people who died. They really didn't know what they were doing.
From want I have heard that mine does not match. But I heard it's not to far from that saloon but covered up with cement and it is to hard to get also would cost to much.
Hi jeff have you ever gone looking for gold in Australia perhaps somewhere in Adelaide it's just I live there and I'm a big fan I've been begging to get my dad to let me go and do some gold panning so I can sell it at the local market with my dad so yeah if you have can you tell me did you find any gold???
+Super rainy not yet but we do plan on going there to get the Big Gold. Victoria , Golden Triangle and maybe two weeks in. Thanks for the comments and there is a couple that mines out there all the time . Here is there link and maybe you could get them to show you there sweet spots until we get there. th-cam.com/users/WalnLiz
well good question. The Dutchman found a mine but could never find it again and the mine has been lost ever since but you know what....Slim knows where it is but will not go there on account it belongs to the Apache.
+Ask Jeff Williams sweet I didn't see a video so I wasn't sure hope you go out to the Applegate area I love it out there I'm sure you would to if you don't already lol
There are still yahoo's traipsing this area. The Superstitions can be very dangerous. I do not suggest going there in the summer or warm weather even. Take more water than you think you'll need...even in cool weather. The desert WILL kill you if you don't prepare properly. If you're hobby prospecting, I'd go elsewhere.
+Jamie Burke This video, obviously. Don't know much about clickbait titles, do ya? It's kind of like false advertising...where you use a grand title to lure people in for views and ad revenue, then provide video content that doesn't support or match the title. No secret location (or any information even remotely new to the world) was revealed in this video, as advertised. However, we did learn that Nevada Jack probably hangs around with Jeff for his non-TH-cam/real personality...if you're observant enough that is.
+touchnova actually there were clues in the vid that are about as close to the location is as possible. The Gonzales, Ruth map is close and from there you are near the area. Jeff and Slim
+Lach Bullen we met long ago on a very interesting prospecting trip. He was looking for a lost mine in the Montgomery mountains in Nevada and I was prospecting in the same area when he ventured into my camp. He seemed a nice enough fellow and he told me his stories of Lost Gold mines that he had found so I offered him some coffee and the rest is well...what you would say.....History.. Jeff and Slim
I was there about 7 years ago and my boy at the time was 7 and we walked into the "Brothel". Well let me tell you that the girl in there was really trying to be authentic because the heat combined with the heavy dress she was wearing smelled like you-know-what. It was offensive and tantalizing all at the same time....lol.
Mr. Williams, that is a wonderful telling of the legend. I would like to add a couple of things that you didn't mention. There was an earthquake that occurred in 1887 that was felt from Sonora to Phoenix. The local newspapers reported large dust clouds coming from the mountains. I spent several days around the needle back in 1988 and there is a lot of funny feelings real or imaginary but it is there someone is watching .
they say it is always being watched.

There was a series of shows with a few guys exploring at that location on Discovery Channel this Summer.
I saw part of that show. Some of those guys in that show took themselves way too seriously and were over dramatic. I suppose that's just Discovery Channel though.
Absolutely. The detector expert was cool. It takes forever to come back from commercials and they have to recap all the time.
+madwonderland Yeah, and it was a joke. They saw a bullet, BUT THE GUY HAD A GUN that shot the snake

Good video Jeff, but let's hear more from Nevada Jack. His stories are even better than his stovepipe boots.
+Randy Lunn would love to but he was busy rubbing his feet lol.
Jeff and Slim
Ive been near the location. it seems that climbing gear may be necessary. It was hard enough to carry what I needed to survive let alone what I needed to get to the mine. That's why they used mules.
nxt time you make it out there get some footage.
my grandfather went in superstisions in 1880sor 1890s lost everything why everything looked the same to him . he walked out and never returned
It's just a legend....so come on, get in.....to the mine
+otherstuffbybob I remember watching this on search of years ago. What about the curse of oak island jeff? or coral castle?
+rob cammer Love those old episodes with Leonard Nemoy, The money pit is an interesting one and coral castle is good too with Edward Leedskalnin. He wrote a book called Magnetic current. The principles of. Good book too.

Nevada Jack...
Are them that boots "GATORS" or when yer traipsing thru the desert???
Awesome, go check out randsburg
Better be careful there Jeff ur going to accidentally push that old boy down lol..

send Slim up them mountains!!
the dutchmen worked at the vulture mine. the gold he claimed he found assayed to come from the vulture mine
From want I have heard that mine does not match. But I heard it's not to far from that saloon but covered up with cement and it is to hard to get also would cost to much.
Benny Hinn went there and saw those shootouts with the guys falling down and standing up repeatedly....the rest is history
I was there about a month ago!
Jeff, where's the link with the history of the mine? SO COME ON, WE'RE HERE!
+Richard Potassium not there huh give me a minute it will be.

Is "Nevada Jack" the same guy the does the Two Toes TH-cam channel?
If it's on the north end? Why do people enter from the south end? Hur?
The Saguaro cactus is an indicator species of the Sonoran Desert. Tell me my education didn't go to waste.
+B Winford that sounds good to me.
Jeff and Slim
They say volcanic rock formations don't hold gold....true?
it is what is underneath that does
So was it the mine or the dutchman who was lost?
well good question. The Dutchman found a mine but could never find it again and the mine has been lost ever since but you know what....Slim knows where it is but will not go there on account it belongs to the Apache.
Well goodness, if guys go up there and wind up dead, send Slim!
(of course, I'm kidding)
info for you... comex registerd gold lowest ever ... jeff the value of your physical gold will go up :o)
+DiyEcoProjects thanks for the info and that is why we hold onto it.

+artistwo why that would be my lovely wife.
Jeff and Slim
I bet that was something to be there
+aj davis you imagine living in that time period, they had to be tough as nails huh.
Jeff and Slim
No kidding the scares sure show it huh
Where's the gold ?
there cryin bout campin out noooo wayyyy masybee
There are still yahoo's traipsing this area. The Superstitions can be very dangerous. I do not suggest going there in the summer or warm weather even. Take more water than you think you'll need...even in cool weather. The desert WILL kill you if you don't prepare properly. If you're hobby prospecting, I'd go elsewhere.
So come on, let's not go missing!
Go up there and find some gold
What are you scared sonnyjim!
first yeah baby
+3DFLYLOW Noob
2:43, is that Leonard Nimoy narrating?
yes it was .
JS
He narrated the 'in search of...' series in the 1970s
Love your channel man, but this feels a lot like clickbait.
+touchnova to what? lol
"clickbait". I don't think we are quite on the same level.
He said Nevada Jack was going to tell us about it, but didn't say anything.
So slimes real name is Nevada Jake uh?
how did you meet naveba jack
+Lach Bullen we met long ago on a very interesting prospecting trip. He was looking for a lost mine in the Montgomery mountains in Nevada and I was prospecting in the same area when he ventured into my camp. He seemed a nice enough fellow and he told me his stories of Lost Gold mines that he had found so I offered him some coffee and the rest is well...what you would say.....History..
Jeff and Slim
the mine is in Utah
I only live 10 miles from The Superstition Mountains.....I need to get up there more often with my detector.
+SuggestiveSquirrels just be safe if you know what I mean.
Jeff and Slim
Yes I certainly do know what you mean.....no offense to Slim but I sure don't want to become his twin. :) thank you for the friendly heads up...
I was there about 7 years ago and my boy at the time was 7 and we walked into the "Brothel". Well let me tell you that the girl in there was really trying to be authentic because the heat combined with the heavy dress she was wearing smelled like you-know-what. It was offensive and tantalizing all at the same time....lol.
don't think she was there this time ...we only saw an older lady there.
JS
just like the gold the first, is all mine hahahahaha
damn it was pyrite
god p[lace too get arrested
