Wow! I just love the way that looks. I thought with the larger yarn it gave the appearance of cables. with thinner yarn it was so lacy looking. You do marvelous work.
WOW!!!!! after 3 years and watching this video 10 or more times to try and get this one down, i still could not get it.....I wanted to make a sweater for a special person and still can't get the pattern, Anna Your Mom is still a fast knitter i am just a beginner and still watching this video......:O
This is one of the first patterns that I have seen that is actually accurate! Thank you so much! I am making several Christmas scarves and this will knit up quick and beautiful, my friends will love this! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! ;)
Hi there Joice, you go to the show more or the drop down arrow if you're on a device. That is where you'll find the pattern. It's on here, not on a website.
How pretty! Thank you for your line by line tutorial; I am working on a crochet project right now but afterwards I will be taking on your pattern! Thank you!
Thank you so much!! You made it very clear. I will check to see if you made that blocking video, I have several projects to block and I'm not sure what the best way to do it is to make my work more even.
Fran Oglesby We will try to do the blocking video soon. We need to get the Holiday Gifts and Winter season in as fast as we can, first. Thanks for reminding me.
I loved the simple way you guided us along. It allowed me to see the pattern unfold right before my eyes as I knitted and followed along, but I wish you would direct us where to find the written directions on your website. I ended up following another written pattern but it is quite different from yours.
Ms. Joanne I Love Your Videos.....and you are fast i am still watching your videos from 2014 try to get a handle on them......lol.... LOVE YOU so Much!!!!
This pattern is so beautiful! I started knitting it so one question popped up: How to finish it so that both ends would look same? Can you please explain how you finish this pattern? Thank you so much! 😊😊
Hola! Thank you very much, from Mexico City 😘☕🌙
The end will not look the same as the beginning since it's the upper part of the pattern and it tends to not wave as much. But use a 1 number larger needle or bind off loosely, so the pattern doesn't "pull" and the wave is clearer.
Marilena v Thank you, Marilena. I love it too! I just finished a very airy jacket with this stitch. I used #11 needles and Patton's Lace yarn. It came out very nice.
Hi Joanne, I just want to let you know much I appreciate your knitting tutorials, and I was wandering if you by any chance had a picture of the finished red vest you were working on in the video, and if you could share that with us?
Hi, Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I am a brand new knitter, so I don't always understand knitting instructions. When you say that this relies on multiples of 10 + 1, do you mean (a) (10 + 1) or (b) (10) + 1? If i wanted a scarf that is roughly 50 stitches wide, Option A would require 55 stitches but Option B would require 51 stitches. I hope that my question is clear. Thank you again.
Jayadancer1 Good Morning! When we say multiple of 10 plus 1, we mean 10, 20, 30, 40, 50...plus 1. This means 11, 21, 31, 41, 51. You would be adding a 1 to the multiple of 10. In your example, it would be option B.
Hi, thank you so much for this video on your Horseshoe Lace Stitch. Q: I would love to add a boarder to this pattern; i am making a scarf. can you advise what stitch i should make the boarder out of that would look good w/this pattern. AND, i want to make this pattern wider than 21 stitches; maybe 31 stitches, how would the pattern change, if i add stitches. thank you
It would look nice for a scarf if you have 4 stitches on the sides of only knit (garter stitch) Make about 6 rows of garter stitch at the beginning and at the end, also.
I like y our idea of using this at the end of a shawl. I can't find a pattern I want to use so I am trying to design my own. What other lace pattern would you use with this? I think I'd do a small section of stockinette or garter after the horseshoe or just continue this stitch for half the length, then starting at the other end and grafting them together so the horsehoe is at both ends. I want most of the shawl to be lace but have not found the pattern I want to use yet. Any suggestions that will go with the horseshoe will be appreciated. Will there be a problem if I do the whole thing in the horseshoe stitch?
Yes. I do the grafting many times because I want the same look at each edge. There's the fishtail stitch also. th-cam.com/video/vJzivvI1WxE/w-d-xo.html. Or a roly poly.. th-cam.com/video/5ey2NPe5HaQ/w-d-xo.html. I like the idea of a shawl with the horseshoe lave throughout. Just make about 8 rows of seed stitch at the bottom, top and 6 stitches of it on each side, to prevent curling.
@@JoannesWeb Thank you for your suggestions. I like the fishtail stitch and will probably use it. Your videos are great. Is the pattern written out anywhere? I went back to Michaels to look for a third skein of the light gray yarn I had bought recently. They did not have 3 with the same dye lot so I bought 2 more of a medium gray and I will use that for the horseshoe stitch at the edges and then switch to the light gray for the body of the shawl. I wanted something neutral and the offwhite and tan were boring. The yarn is called Woolike Simili-Laine and very soft. I'm h oping it will have good drape. I'm not on Facebook; is there another way to send a photo when it is done?

Me: "OK, I have the basics down, been knitting off & on for well over a decade. It's time to branch out. Yeah, this one looks good. I can do this." Me: *Follows instructions CAREFULLY* Final result: "LOL, this looks like I don't even know what knitting needles look like!"
Hi! I have tried the pattern with the exact instructions multiple times and from the very first row I am missing 1 stich to be able to close the pattern. I casted on 81 stitches but somehow I am missing the one to be able to k1 at the end my first row finishes with k3. This continues with the rest of then and for example I can´t p1 at the end of the 3th row either....I have to end with k1.....and so on. Anyone knows what am I doing wrong? I really love this pattern and I am struggling with this. Thank you.
Oh no!!! I believe you are making each repetition with the k1 from the beginning. The repetition starts with the yarn over. It's always from the * to the *. The knit one from the beginning is done only once (at the beginning)
JoannesWeb Thank you fir replying, Joanne. I would like to do it 2 colours and the "zig zag" (horizontally) pattern follows. And not turned into half. I dont know if you understand what I'm trying to describe...lol
At the bottom of the video on "show more" Here it is: www.joannesweb.com The Knitted Horseshoe stitch is a beautiful lace pattern. Follow these instructions: Horseshoe Lace Stitch K1 or k1= Kinit 1 k2tog= Knit 2 together. P1 or p1= Purl 1. PSSO= Pass the slipped stitch over the k2tog. yo= Yarn over. … Repeat stitches from * to *. Odd rows are on the right side. Even Rows are on the wrong side. on the 3rd row, second time around, she accidentally purls when she was supposed to knit ... then she backed it up. Can you show a slow tutorial on how to reverse your stitches when you make a mistake? Unlike crochet, I have not found an easy way to fix a mistake like that unless I rip it all out and start over. I am fairly new to knitting, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
+Ricky Salinas If you are making a flat project, like a scarf, you need to add stitches on the sides. I make about 4 (only knit on both sides) stitches. This way it doesn't curl. If you are making this stitch for a sweater or jacket, it will be flat once you sew it.
You probably casted on too many stitches for the front and the back and didn't take the saddle shoulder stitches into consideration when you did your number stitches. You can make a long ribbing at the neck and bind off with a smaller needle, to tighten it.
You need to make a few rows of garter or seed stitch at the bottom and the top. In the middle you have your Horseshoe Lace Stitch but need to have at least 4 stitches on each side of garter or seed stitch. I personally like the seed stitch. It's fancier. The number of stitches depends on the multiples, the yarn and the needles you use. Be aware it should be a multiple of 10 plus 1, without counting the edges. So it should be, for example 60 plus 1=61. Depending on how wide you want it to be.
littlemissgigles29 You can measure the head...it's usually about 22" around. Measure how many stitches you need, by making a swatch. You do need to make sure you have the amount of multiple stitches that the pattern calls for. Knit about 7" and you can now start taking off.
JoannesWeb I am still confused as to how I would get the shaping of the hat on top to work out using the horseshoe lace pattern up to the top of the hat
JoannesWeb I am hoping to make a pattern for both womens and girls hats in this lace as I want to make a few as presents and possibly some fingerless gloves and scarf to match

This pattern is so beautiful! I started knitting it so one question popped up: How to finish it so that both ends would look same?

Hi, if i add 6 rows of garter stitch (making a scarf) as you suggested will i need to add 6 stitches on both sides of each row also? thank you
what size needle is used for this pattern?
4 Stitches on each side would be enough.
#4 Worsted Yarn and 10 1/2 US Needles. If you use #3 yarn, try to use about a #9 needles.

+Gina Franco I made a wrap with Lace yarn and used #8 needles. Use about 2 sizes larger needles than what the yarn calls for.
I love you lady!
Hi joanne, i want to ask you if i can use this design as an edges of triangle shawl ?
Yes. It would look very nice. Just make sure to have garter stitches at the edges so it doesn't curl.
Wish this could be made into a scarf for shawl.
How do I convert this beautiful lace into a pattern for a beanie hat using single point straight needles
littlemissgigles29 You can measure the head...it's usually about 22" around. Measure how many stitches you need, by making a swatch. You do need to make sure you have the amount of multiple stitches that the pattern calls for. Knit about 7" and you can now start taking off.

I am still confused as to how I would get the shaping of the hat on top to work out using the horseshoe lace pattern up to the top of the hat

I am hoping to make a pattern for both womens and girls hats in this lace as I want to make a few as presents and possibly some fingerless gloves and scarf to match
Merci
