This is how I make all my high waisted shorts as well :) I've never tried using men's jeans though, I'll have to try it next time I go thrifting. Also, for anyone that doesn't want to spend time on tweezing all the threads just make your slits where you want and simply throwing them in the wash and dryer. Saves a lot of time and comes out just as frayed 🖖

Yay! Love the method of making them longer in the back. Finally, I have a good looking pair of shorts lol. Thank you! I also have a tip, after you cut the legs and cut the slits, don't bother pulling the threads out. Just run them through the washer and they'll fray themselves. :)

I made mine super short on accident but I still totally rock them out at the beach & my beach bum looks great in my opinion lol Why let a perfectly good pair of shorts go to waist haha but I do wish I had watch this video beforehand ;) Thanks for sharing your method! I will be making the back a bit longer in my next attempt.

A few tips on those dealing with any stretch in their jeans, it helps to kinda pull the bottoms back and forth to get the white threads to show a little more, it also helps to flip the bottoms upwards and pull the white strings from the inside of the shorts out you can see them better. It’s also a lot faster if you stretch the jeans back and forth!

Thank you so much for this video! I thrifted some men’s jeans (had to add an extra button because they were too big) and made three pairs of shorts for $4 each! I always wondered why the front always looked funny after cutting them. And that’s why! They need to be shorter in the front looks so much better! I didn’t quite understand how you lined it up to make it even to the back but I kinda found my own way and that worked just fine.

Men's pants are sized by your waist size in inches and inseam in inches which is the length between the bottom of your crotch and where you want your pants to end (usually ankle). As a woman who is 5'4, I usually go with a 34 inch inseam. I hope this helps someone out.

Another good way to achieve the fray/distressed look with the cuts so it looks kinda see through is to, like she did, make a few small cuts. You need a minimum of two. Then, pull out the blue denim threads. These pull out all the way and leave you with a better looking see through fray.

Any advice about getting pants in mens sizes? Like wat if you have slim thighs? Nd like no butt lol
+Erika Magicskull Men's pant sizes are based on waist and leg length. so first number is how many inches around the waist is.
example. 30/32 would be 30 inch waist with 32 inch leg. if you are slim and have no ass then you will need something smaller.
I am pretty sure men's pants come in "slim". Unless it's just boy/kid pants I'm thinking of.

everything seems to come a in a "slim" variant but as far as i'm aware the numbers are the same. so even in slim a 30-32 is still 30 inch waist, 32 inch leg. and then add in the slim for what is probably skinny legs on the pants.

I work at Levi's and to me they look like a 505 (regular fit men's straight leg that sits at the waist) .. The 501 has a button fly, not a zipper.. They sit a little bit higher on the waist and are a tiny bit slimmer than the 505 slightly.. Also it said guaranteed for life on the tag.. Which means these were vintage and could have been sold for a lot of money!
