Joe Elliott seems like a really good guy, down to earth and accepting of others just the way they are. So refreshing. And of course being in one of the best bands ever.
I really liked Def Leppard’s music in the 80s-90s. Very nice commentary from Joe! He’s correct that no one matches Freddie!

That's what I call friendship.
I love how much of a Def Leppard fan Brian May is. That means a lot to me. I'd been a huge Def Leppard fan since the mid 80s, but this concert was the first time I'd ever seen any of them live. I've always loved Queen but was too young to see them live before Freddie died. Such a thrill to be at his tribute concert. We were right up near the stage too. There with Mark West and Claire Imber, my first serious girlfriend. God, I loved her. Perfect day, that.

VERY cool story! Of course no one can "replace" Freddie, but in this case it wasn't a replacement thing, it was an honorary show of respect for the man.
I always thought it was really cool how the Queen guys did the first verse without any guests, and then had Joe and Slash join them. It sort of set the stage that "We are Queen, and here are people to pay tribute to Freddie."
Still 1 of my favourite concerts. A few years ago it was my 50th and we went to Canada for a meet & great with Leppard. Just as I was leaving Joe said Respect for your Freddie tribute t shirt.

I've loved Lepp all my life and I was there that day but they were bloody AWFUL.
Even when Brian joined them they sounded absolutely awful.
There's no getting away from that.
Just..... horrendous.
