Tolkien's appreciation of "Fellowship" came from his experience of deep bonds of real fellowship at school with three beloved friends. In WWI, two of them died, another was incapacitated from shell-shock & he himself was in a unconcious state for weeks. That's why I don't employ women, too emotional and manipulative. They cry to get their own way which is completely inappropriate and not conducive to good business. Women also think they have to defend each other even when in the wrong. Look how petty she was in this video, "take it out of my salary" knowing full well that's not going to happen, it was just an act of manipulation designed to make him feel guilty and pressured so he'd go back on his decision.
@@nander1988 If you've seen the film Office Space, I reckon the guy gives off Lumburg vibes. I suspect the 2nd AD on such a large production wasn't junior enough to be spending her time on something all week unless it was necessary, and the production manager was dismissive and condescending in his failure to ascertain and consider key details before communicating a judgement, which apparently he based upon assumptions which the exchange had already indicated to be incomplete or inaccurate. 2nd ADs on a production like LoTR have a tremendous amount of responsibility, acting as a backstage/off-set manager, and the 1st AD's consigliere. Him having to justify the expense of overtime for one employee vs. her having to justify the expense of a disrupted shoot due to a foreseen but unaddressed shortfall or failure in communications equipment is not an equitable exchange.

And thanks to the WHOLE crew for believing in this film and making this possible! I'm so proud of you all now I've got the understanding of the time and effort being put into this. It's unbelievable.
I'm really thankful for that.
From my heart to yours
It seems like everyone in the cast genuinely liked each other and became very good friends.
Christ the effort that went into making this film is outstanding
Elijah's laugh is maniacal and I love it!
Tolkien's appreciation of "Fellowship" came from his experience of deep bonds of real fellowship at school with three beloved friends. In WWI, two of them died, another was incapacitated from shell-shock & he himself was in a unconcious state for weeks. "Deal ye one with another with the utmost love and harmony, with friendliness and fellowship… This goal excelleth every other goal, and this aspiration is the monarch of all aspirations." ~ Baha'u'llah, Baha'i Faith
Real craftsmanship right there ladies and gentlemen, I love these movies
Handmade sets, props, etc, will always endear the audience’s hearts.
the woman standing up for her coworker is so kind and strong. it makes me cry.
It looked like that was out of place though. Her reasoning seemed to be based on the fact that the 2nd assistant was crying and working hard all week to get something trivial done

If you've seen the film Office Space, I reckon the guy gives off Lumburg vibes.
Watching making-of videos usually robs some of the magic from the movie. The LotR behind the scenes videos make them more magical, because you get to see all the hard work, artistry, and love that went into making them.
Really appreciated that they recorded all this so we can see just how extensive it was once to make an amazing movie production.
2025 and still amazing 👏🏽👏🏽
The amount of work and effort that go into making a movie...
I still can't wrap my mind around that
True. Yet I doubt any film crew ever worked more passionately than the TLoTR’s.
That Is why this is Favorite Films of All Time Cause of the Scope of it All
18:18 ‘for Gandalf when he visits Bilbo and Freddo’ HAHA
friend: whose your favourite hobbit?
me: freddo
@Danny Carvajal "It's the way Bilbo wanted it"
"IT AIN'T HOW I WANTED IT"
32:37 Nazgul walking his horse holding an umbrella is the funniest thing I've seen today
i want to see the reaction of a company reading someones resume and seeing Elvish as a spoken language
Those chain - mail makers are absolute troopers. 5 million rings!
24:21 “hi! As i go over my lines, and embarrass me?? HAHAHAHA YEAH” lol i love it so much
I love the behind the scenes footage as much as the films. I love films and all the love and effort that goes into making all films
20:23 I love this little slap that Ian Mckellen does to the Samwise scale doll here, always cracks me up
20:26 Ian McKellen slapping the Sam dummy for no damn reason somehow gets me.
41:00 The effort that was put into the miniature sets is incredible.
32:45 I'd never thought I'd laugh at the nine Nazguls shielding themselves against the rain using some colorful umbrellas
Howard Shore... no words of praise fitting enough for this soundtrack.
32:45 The Nazgul forgot to bring Sauron's sinisterly-fashioned umbrellas that day.
"He still hasn't coughed up his secrets" love it, the pure organic insanity, so beautiful
My favorite movies of all time. Favorite trilogy of all time. Best movies ever made in my opinion. To this day I get goosebumps watching these behind the scenes features & seeing how much work went into these movies. Literally years, a lifestyle. This took over people's lives. We are so blessed to have this been given to us. We are not worthy
you know, after seeing the other behind the scenes for Two Towers and Return of The King, it's really interesting to see how the vibe of this started off completely different. Here, people were stressed the fuck out, trying to figure out how the hell to put together a film series that's never been done on this level or scale, Joking is to a minimum. It's so satisfying to see everyone kind of loosen up as it goes on :)
Once a month , I like to see the making of the movies. They just bring joy to my soul.
I love watching how these movies are made! God bless all who were involved!
i love coming back to this whenever I’m sad
We appreciate the fight! The results speak volumes to the level of commitment from every team member. Thank you!
It’s completely insane how much thought and technicality went into these film’s… Utterly mind blowing.
32:37 ring wraith holding an umbrella milling about is hilarious
Ikr xD
Honestly 1 of the best movie of 2001! Wow! This movie was 21 years ago! How time flies!
Fran was powerless to stop Christopher Lee from quoting the full One Ring poem.
This movie embodies the perfect encounter between utter chaos and a quasi maniacal sense of order and organization. A miracle.
1:39
“I really hope I don’t forget my line....
Shit I forgot my helmet”
😂😂😂😂😂😂
32:45 the ring wraiths with umbrellas, perfect :D
Geordie Third lmao.
I’ve been watching ian mckellan smack that mannequin for ages on repeat, and I don’t know why it’s so funny to me
8:29 that was so nice of the First AD. Instead of demanding whoever she was talking about to work without pay, she practically said "I'll give her the money so she can push through to finish something." Someone needs to promote her to producer status because of that
This is really incredible . All the people including Peter Jackson did a fantastic job on this movie . They did come with some challenges but they kept being well organized and did a great job
I'll never forget my 1st impressions of the Orcs, was 14 or 15 when the first movie was released and was terrified of them (still am!) Im amazed at how well these movies were done!
I never realised how much detail went into this film after years of being a huge fan .. breathtaking and amazing job to everyone involved
the legend whose concerned about how they will serve them a cup of tea needs a fucking medal
51:05 "basically it's like take out." Has to be the best line oml
Sean Astin as Sam was such a good idea
18:15 ahh yeah, that’s my favourite bit, when he visits bilbo and Freddo
The making of lord of the ring is just so facinating.
All this moves me
. I wish the master J.R.R Tolkien could see how many people have worked on his works.
32:46 WHAT A GREAT POSTER !!! Wraiths with umbrellas!!!!
1:08:48 "We don't all need boats. You could have got the bus." :D
1:11:09 "Don't block the close up during the trauma."
the way he smiles when he says he's finally gonna film the villain. just a one of the examples of the love they had while making this movie
these films and all the effort it took will always warm my heart
2019. Damn i feel old.
