XD edit2: legit though, I saw this pop up on my feed and clicked so fast. there is so much history to the world tyria spanning both gw1 and gw2, and i never know who or what have deeper lore to look into. these bite-sized lore dump are so fun and it's so cool seeing the tie-in with gw1!
Great video, loving the series ! As a non GW1 player thats a (major ?) drawback I find with GW2, many mind blown lore moments brush right over the top of our heads unless we watch videos like this.
true, I wish there was a way for them bring more attention to returning characters before they make their return. Although that might be a little difficult to do without spoiling who the upcoming character is.

I started playing gw1 back in September and I've got to admit the story is more engaging than gw2's Holy fried shiggen Devona is the Balthazar Herald!!! 😮😮 Now I'll regret helping her in Ascalon 😂
Probably the reason I didn't enjoy Season 3 all that much, is because most of these major returning characters were John Smiths in my eyes, because I had never played Guild Wars 1.
The Devona one makes me furious. If you're going to make that connection PUT IT IN THE FUCKING GAME! I don't care how blatant it is. They could've made the enemy's name "Devona, Herald of Balthazar", or they could've just added a lore note somewhere explaining how Devona became the herald. IMO if it's not actually in the game, it's not canon.

another fun fact, the herald has a voice line that is exactly the same as one of Devona's lines. The devs copied it verbatim

I love this lore videos, so interesting. and I never played GW1 so it's great to learn things from that game and see all the ways it connects to GW2.
