Yes, and the subject matter is dark. Ninja Gaiden 1's soundtrack also gave me the willies for awhile (World 4-3, for example. This track sounded like a scarier version of the Twilight Zone theme). The opening notes to the scene with Foster also were extremely creepy.
Who ever this guy is playing this game without dying, you are a gaming god my friend. Going through this game without a death is an amazing feat as it is.
Thank you very much. I appreciate, comments like this, i even did better then that with ninja gaiden 1: th-cam.com/video/LsFpbZTyLCU/w-d-xo.html One of the best run on my channel and youtube is hidding in the back pages for some stupid unknown reasons.
Maybe it was a clean stab that missed all the vital organs. Plus Robert is a soldier in the USA 🇺🇸 Army and likely has been trained extensively as a combat medic and as such rendered the necessary first aid treatment.

This was definitely one of the best NES games of all time, I fully agree there. Everything from the soundtrack, to the graphics, to the challenging difficulty, this is a classic that is remembered fondly by me.
25yrs later i still get chills watching this. I remember having this game, zelda, all the super mario bros, super contra, ultimate air combat nd double dragon
when you get to 37:15 on jaquio's part, it isn't really the jaquio talking in the story line. its actually the demon (the final boss from the first ninja gaiden) talking through jaquio. jaquio was already long dead since from the first ninja gaiden. ashtar was merely the pawn. when he says "the spirit released after our battle flowed into my body" it means that the demon possesed jaquio's dead body. that's why the final boss is a full reincarnated demon just to show you.
cazadoresmichoacano1 Wow, that makes complete sense. I always wondered how Jaquio had survived the first fight with Ryu. Jaquio's appearance is noticeably more demonic in this game.
It does sound valid. And even Demon has possessed Jaquio's body he can read all of his memories (included the memory of Ryu) that's why he said something like this "Fight Ryu Hayabusa, the last of your clan..." It means the Demon who possessed Jaquio knew that Ryu is the last descendent of his clan, and if you notice the Background of the last stage, you will see the small miniatures of demon statues (teal in color) and also the last two forms of Jaquio looks very similar to the statue of demon...
I used to play this game till the end. But now I'm a middle aged man and 30 years have passed. Thanks for the gameplay, it helped me to remember what to do in some parts that I am stuck into.
Brings back so many memories. I had this game as a kid and took me a long time to finally beat it, my friends all hovered around me holding their breath each try going through the last three boss fight. They finally exploded when I finally triumphed, after a few tries of course. Will never forget that moment. Just want to mention that the end credits track is one awesome tune, love it.
Wow!! you are talking about NES nostalgia! I have been playing this game since my childhood, it's my most fav game in the entire NES world; it has very great BGM and the artwork of the cutscenes is really great. It is really cinematic! The instrumental music of this game esp "the parasprinter" gives me goosebumps everytime. That music echoes in my heart... ❤️ Indeed, the game is more than 30 years old, yet it is #1 for me ❤️
Has anyone noticed that some of the onscreen enemies are smaller versions of the original Ninja Gaiden bosses like Barbarian, Bomberhead, Basaquer and Bloody Malth?
Nah, it still has cheap deaths, but the bounce back actually works to your favor 50% of the time in this game given how differently its programmed from the first game. Also, you don't have to go back to 7-1 if you fail at one of the final bosses. Not to mention the control's faster than in the first game.
In my country this game was popular in 2007 I loved this game alot. Me my brother, my brother's friend gathered together with tea n used to play this game 😭 this game reminds me of my brother's friend who is more today
Love this game!!! Controls were super spot on! Music was phenomenal!!! Been finding myself humming along while watching. This was the first NES game that had characters in a story that made you feel loss. Robert dying actually made me tear up a bit, but made me that much more determined to defeat evil... Might have to make a run thru myself now!!!!
Would be awesome if you do make and record the run. Well, if you do let me know and i go give it a like and also, i give you the right to paste the video-link in my ng2 comments section below, you know so can reach a bigger audience for that run. Thanks for watching and for keeping these old-school gems alive.
Heroes of Xanadu - Sloth How do you do your vid captures? I can use Camtasia, but the sound will likely be off. I'll definitely post the run if I can do a good capture in good quality 😇
I remember getting far into this game for the first time, not knowing what will come next. It was so exciting:) I was younger playing off of a family members console back in like 2010-2011 and I still love this game to this day:)❤️
The music is so nostalgic, most of my fav nest games had it, but this one hit different, every stages and the music is on point. I played this game as a 7-11 yrs old, i still can remember all the scene, and drawing ryu hanging in the cliff scouting the altar, i mean back then there is no camera yet, no internet, and i manage to draw it perfectly, it took me a whole day, i means its just a pencil drawing, but i treasure it, but i didnt remember where did i put it😢.
From the… Tecmo Presents 1990 Ninja Gaiden II To the Ashtar intro cutscene. The music that goes with it. The character introductions. The “one year later” message. The title screen, the stage music, the ability to climb up and down walls, the extra ninjas that help. Yeah, this is the superior Ninja Gaiden.
one of the few games on NES that we actually finished. it had the right amount of difficulty and the story, cutscenes, and music were just breathtaking! I mean, the artwork, WOW. I was 13 in 1990. we totally were into the whole ninja thing and Ryu Hayabusa became a staple character we would use in various RPGs or drawings for years to come
Hey thought I saw you die 33:19 and at 35:29 I use to emulate this, and save it B4 I died just to restart. Other than that man best game of all time, had your video on while playing call duty straight killing everyone with just the music.
One of the most rewarding game to beat. I beat it only once. However NG3 was my most beloved game from the series(long ass sword OP). That game i used to beat in around 25 minutes after a warm up round.
I beat this game as a kid & I remember it being a very difficult game to beat this is one of my fave Ninja Gaiden games to play thanks for the memories my dude!
OMG! I remember right after buying this game and the Guide, I brought it to school to share with friends and my teacher saying "put all your ninja stuff away!" ha ha Good times! you're awesome at this game by the way.
You are due a Thanks! This is a hard game. But a very good game. I was 13 when I beat this, and I loved it. Good luck to the new generation - NES control is the way to go!
I love Ninja Gaiden 2 as well but honestly after years of playing this and watching the play through again, I have to say that Ninja Gaiden 1 had the best story. The story in part 2 isn’t written very well. You can tell they were just trying to cash in off the success of the first game. This one did well too but the first one was the best. Even the music is far better on the first game.
I didn't realize I actually owned this game until recently. I tried it out and I had major trouble getting past the second level. lol. The game is really well designed but that hit detection though... I was getting really frustrated that my sword would go through enemies without harming them. Its like you have to hit them at just the right angle. Same with the power tokens. I see my sword hitting it, but its like "swish" nothing. lol. After I finally beat the boss on that level, I quit.... But I have to admit... I'm getting the itch to try again. Now that's a game that calls you to action no matter how many times it hands your ass to you. You played this like a pro. I played it like I was blind folded. lol. Thanks for posting the vid. Helps a ton!
I remember being a kid and passing Ninja Gaiden and I was the only kid in my entire school that did and no one believe me so I had to prove it and show all these peeps. Then 2 I got right when it came out and same thing. Didn't take me long to pass them though 2 is a bit more challenging than 1 and 3 is the most challenging for sure.
Pretty impressive finishing this one without dying. I always seem to have to go thru that last level a few times before I can beat all 3 final bosses. While I feel this NG is the easiest, it is by far not an easy game. The ninja shadows make the game a ton easier than 1 or 3. I still feel 3 is by far the most difficult, likely because of the limited continues and the unforgiving starting spots after dying.
Oh, so the trick was having your shadow all game long! Man!!! so many frustrations with this game when aI was a lil kid. I remember reaching the final Boss and then and never able to beat him
Best game of the nes trilogy. Ah fuck, they're all good but damn ninja gaiden 2 is just awesome. Used to throw fits over dying in this game by getting hit by vultures. Took me years to finally beat it, but when I did it was the best feeling in the world for a 12 year old kid in the early 90s.
Fun Fact: This game actually takes place after Ninja Gaiden III even if the manual of that game says otherwise. Ninja Gaiden III fills in the gap of what happened between the events of the first game and this game.
Lol I love this game.. bout a guy with a part of the dragons own body in love with a woman, my favorite part is 2nd to the last level with the hearts, the mystery bridegroom is coming to the final boss, and has the only one with a hidden heart Lol. one of my favorite games of all time right here
I played 1-3 a ton as a kid. I would say they are all very close in terms of quality/difficulty. 2 is my favorite, I think it just has the tightest controls, best level design, and best music. 1 is great, but has the least forgiving controls, and every hit knocks you way back. The bosses in 1 are also the easiest in my opinion. 3 is really good and possibly the hardest, though that is mostly due to the damage received from every hit and the length of the levels (the last stage is near impossible to get through start to finish without the time running out). 3 makes up for the difficulty, by having the best items in the series. In terms of consistancy in NES series, this series takes the cake, even when compared to the likes of Mario, Castlevania, or even Mega Man.
This game gave me anxiety before I even knew what that was.. Funny story was my parents bought tried to buy me TMNT 2 but bought this game instead.. I was upset but it looks awesome when I saw the graphics. Once i started playing i loved it. Great game, but one of the hardest games I've ever played.
I grew up watching my brothers playing this game. I loved every minute of it. Thank you for taking me back in time!
Well my brother used to play and I watch, cause this game was difficult for me.not pro.
So many invaluable memories, huh? This is why I'm not just a gamer but more so a retro gamer.

I'm trying right now to play along with this, but time has not been merciful with my reflexes and eyesight. I'll get it though.
I loved those short little stories in between levels. What a fantastic game. This and Strider need films or a new Anime series.
I still prefer the old Ninja Gaiden ova. THAT, is the one for me
wow, 1 hit away from death on the last boss
Yeah, i din't do too much of a good performance fighting that last boss but i did much better after when i recorded gaiden 1 & 3 on the final parts.
The last boss is so annoying. When I was a kid I usually didn't beat him. Only a few times it happened.
it's more impressive how close it came to his end when you consider the next wave of blood spurts from the neck cavity were coming right for the orb

Man!!! so many frustrations with this game when aI was a lil kid.
I remember reaching the final Boss and then and never able to beat him
This game is a sequel to Ninja Gaiden, the arcade and NES bestseller!!
+susanfit47 No. Is a sequel to Revenge of Shinobi...
SUPER MEMORIES, thanks to the player of this video.
one of my favorite games when I lived in Mexico!!!!!!!
Yeah mine too
Best game of the nes trilogy. Ah fuck, they're all good but damn ninja gaiden 2 is just awesome. Used to throw fits over dying in this game by getting hit by vultures. Took me years to finally beat it, but when I did it was the best feeling in the world for a 12 year old kid in the early 90s.
GG.
The orange clone was a good helper!
EXCELENTE JUEGO, UNO DE MIS FAVORITOS. AUNQUE NUNCA LO PUDE TERMINAR, ERA MUY DIFICIL
Jaqio be sayin to ryu: I know it's not your time, mm bye bye
god i sat here and watched the whole thing... even rewinding the good parts. what's wrong with me, lol!!?
Finally i know the end
Fun Fact: This game actually takes place after Ninja Gaiden III even if the manual of that game says otherwise. Ninja Gaiden III fills in the gap of what happened between the events of the first game and this game.
Lol I love this game.. bout a guy with a part of the dragons own body in love with a woman, my favorite part is 2nd to the last level with the hearts, the mystery bridegroom is coming to the final boss, and has the only one with a hidden heart Lol. one of my favorite games of all time right here
NG2 one of my All time favorites!
I love this game to much and this music as well
I played 1-3 a ton as a kid. In terms of consistancy in NES series, this series takes the cake, even when compared to the likes of Mario, Castlevania, or even Mega Man.
wow I was one boss away from beating the game and i didnt even know it =/
Ninja gaiden 3 was the hardest however I found all of them very challenging it is a true test of gaming skills I have had
Alto juego compa, me trajo nostalgia volver a verlo.
How to download the soundtrack 😅
I just this game today at my local mall. My cousin had it when I was little. It took me three hours to beat it today.
It seems like this is the early game that the story plot of the Xbox game was most similar to.
