  • Discover the Serenity of Simianshan Town: Lost Villa's Mountain-Dwelling Resort
Welcome to the tranquil embrace of Simianshan Town in Chongqing, Southwest China, where the first mountain-dwelling resort by Lost Villa has found its home. In collaboration with Kong_architects, this architectural gem seamlessly integrates with the surrounding U-shaped mountain valley, offering an extraordinary experience that harmonizes with nature.
    Preserving Nature's Legacy:
Set against the backdrop of mountains and crisscrossing valleys, Lost Villa preserves the foundations of old cabins to construct new buildings. The site, surrounded by terraced fields and fruit trees from the past, becomes an artificial-natural landscape, maintaining a connection to its heritage.
Three Building Relationships: Guanshan, Yishan, Yinshan:
Inspired by the mountain topography, three groups of buildings-Guanshan (observing mountains), Yishan (relying on mountains), and Yinshan (hidden in mountains)-create a unique spatial experience. This intentional design fosters a profound interaction between people and nature, reshaping the relationship between man and mountains.
    Respecting Terrain and Climate:
Guided by a construction strategy that respects the terrain and climate, the architects minimized earthwork excavation, retained significant rocks and trees, and integrated them into the architectural dialogue. The thin, expansive roof not only protects the building from rain erosion but also extends its lifespan, showcasing a commitment to sustainable construction practices.
    Gray Spaces and Local Materials:
Emphasizing the importance of ventilation and lighting, the design incorporates ample gray space while utilizing local materials. From rough stones for retaining walls to red sandstone blocks for building bases, railings, and steps, every element echoes the natural surroundings. Recycled old wood, stone strips, slates, and large wine jars further contribute to the local essence in the landscape.
    Creating New Perspectives:
Immerse yourself in the curated spaces of Guanshan, Yishan, and Yinshan to gain a fresh perspective and experience a profound connection with nature. The dialogue between architecture and the environment encourages visitors to explore and wander, fostering a unique bond with the mountains.
