I think the reason why Red Hood stands out the most to me isn't just because he's willing to kill. Despite what Batman says, Jason isn't actually the one who can't control his inner demons. Batman is projecting his own fears that that if he starts, he won't be able to stop. Jason doesn't have that issue. He doesn't just kill every crook he meets. He researches and profiles them before deciding whether it's justifiable to kill or save them. He believes in second chances (e.g., Sparing the life of Suzie Su) but he is analytical, practical and realistic. Jason isn't just willing to kill, he does it in precision and for what he believes is "the greater good". Even Batman said it himself, given time to think, Jason can do anything (sadly though, that was stated negatively).
Jason is willing to kill, but it’s not uncommon for many comic iterations to put this edge to Jason where he starts spiralling into this pit of emotional baggage and torment. He’s the most broken in the bat family and him killing is just making it worse for him. Of course they have to keep resetting the character back to default because comics can’t deviate too far in terms of character arcs.
Got to make the person who actually kills the villains still look like the bad guy.

You're forgetting that one of of Dick Grayson's most iconic quotes about his robin time was (and i'm paraphrasing here) that he "Made a career of not doing what he was told"? Like yeah, Jason was a violent kid (all of them are, i mean they punch criminals in the face for a living ffs) but his disobedience was nothing new. The problem with Jason's robin was that the writter hated him and all the heroes around his age who he could have made friendships with (and make him more interesting by default) were all Dick's friends and in the teen titans and before he was rebooted, the first time, his orign story was the same as Dick's.

But the problem is that fans had grown with Dick, who was the opposite of Jason: friendly, funny, obedient...that led them to hate him and choose to make him die. Jason's personality wasn't the one fans wanted for Robin, but for a villain/antihero. And that's what Jason became in "under the red hood" and "Rebirth", the antihero we all love

Tim Drake is my favorite Robin. He was the first Robin to ever outsmart the Joker without Batman's help. Joker swore vengeance because of the humiliation.

Idk Tim always seemed like the perfect replacement for Batman. He isn't close to crossing the line like Jason and Damian, ignoring that potential future where he's a killer, and Dick left Batman because he was always somewhat different than Bruce. I always felt that was why he left as Robin, he didn't fully agree with Batman all the time. Unlike Tim who I feel is very similar to Bruce.
Edit: But it is true that Tim doesn't want the mantle.

In a rebirth story a future batman arrives-it was Tim. He explains why he’s batman. Dick outgrew it, Jason lost a leg because he was reckless and Damian destroyed the city and completed his grandfather’s mission so Tim has to become batman
I would also argue that in the comics at least (obviously pre-new 52) Tim also has the best moral compass and conscience. (Mainly because of the Blockbuster thing, and Ressurection of Ra's)
I don't believe any Robin Is capable of filling the role of Batman.
@@privateman5274 I mean DIck did it for a while while Bruce was thought to be dead and I think he did a fairly good job at it. He wasn't the same type of Batman Bruce was, but it worked. And if Dick can do it, then I feel any other Robin can and at least be efficient in different ways.

Jason's presumed murder of Felipe Garzonas is another stand out. Its strongly implied that he did it and while it's supposed to act as a takedown of his character by a writer who hated him, ironically it actually made him more sympathetic. Even way before his death arc he was giving a compelling argument for the flaws in Batman's no kill rule. A violent, sadistic serial rapist diplomat's son whose diplomatic immunity makes it impossible for the criminal justice system to punish him for his heinous crimes? Crimes so bad they drove a nice lady to suicide because she'd rather die than face such torture again? Yeah. His victims deserved justice and Jason gave that to them. And since Garzonas got sadistic pleasure from it and had no potential legal consequences as a deterrant, he would inevitably reoffend. Jason also prevented this. Batman fucking sucks at preventing reoffending. The murder also highlighted his strong sense of protectiveness for vulnerable people, and is his first known kill.
I hate that Jason is so frequently portrayed as some axe crazy blood knight that loves killing and does it for fun, when he's much more compelling as a character who hates killing, but feels like he has to in order to find justice in an unfair world because Batman's way aint cutting it. We have enough sadist killers like Joker and Zsasz so turning Jason into another one is BORING and i'm sick of it.

Lets say youre in a situation where the only way to stop the joker from killing a bus load of child prodigies who have found the cure for cancer, (just for the sake of being hyperbolic as possible)is to put a bullet in his brain - and you have a gun and know how to use it safely and accurately - which would be the more ethical choice? To let the bus full of cancer curing children all die in agony and allow the joker to escape, or to save the children and take the joker out in a manner that would likely be an instant, painless death?
Personally, in a scenario like that, i'd be inclined to say that failing to kill the joker would be unethical.
Is it unethical to kill in order to save your own life or the life of another that is being threatened? I don't think so.
Its unethical to kill for pleasure, or to kill brutally in any circumstance (the latter of which even well written Jason is guilty of) - but there are times when killing is the far lesser of two evils.
I'm not condoning all of jason's actions across his entire fictional existance - the man has done some very fucked up things! I'm just saying he has so much potential as a foil to batman that is underused. He has a strong counter argument against bruce's fixed morals.

I don't know. Am I the only one who thinks that Dick's most important kill was the Joker? I mean, even if Batman revived him straight away, Dick did go on a rampage to avenge Jason and Tim, as he thought the latter had been killed by the Joker too. For me, that's a pivotal moment, for him, as he couldn't handle it. He was driven by blind rage and it broke him to lose his shit that way. The aftermath showed how compassionate and hard on himself he could be and why he could never really be a killer like Jason or Damian. Even though those two weren't here at the time, it ultimately set him apart from them when they did appear, and showed why he was the best to wear the cowl. It was reinforced later by his reaction to him not stopping Tarantula from killing Blockbuster. It's not that Dick doesn't have blood on his hands that makes him the most compassionate of all the Robins. It's that when he does have blood on his hands, he can't stand the idea of being free and feeling that by killing, he was weak. So for me, that's why it's his most important kill.

Personally I think Damian is a sociopath, they show similar characteristics to a psychopath with the difference being that sociopaths are made while psychopaths are born. Keep in mind during his time in the league of assassins he would have probably been tested in a similar way, thus why he killed and decapitated the guy.

To be fair the only reason Superman kills zodd is cause zodd left him with no other choice. Superman even morns the death and wishes he didn't have to. Sometimes people are put are forced to kill.
He could have flown up in the air with zodd. Or even jumped in front of the beam it would be much better scene if superman jumped in front of zodd's laser with no idea if he would survive and saving the family.

I think Damien is the heir to the Batman title. Dick really wants to be separate from Batman. He's fine with it for a little time but if he had to permanently be Batman he wouldn't want to. Jason is too far out to be able to be Batman. And Tim's whole thing is there needs to be a Robin. Tim will always prefer to be Robin.
