When a neuroscientist says more empathy is what society needs most today, you listen... Everyone is too self focused; and of course, when you only think about your problems, they become huge and anxiety inducing.
Just be kinder, truly listen, give your mom a hand. Just look a little beyond yourself. Breathing and exercise do wonders, but it's empathy that really reframes your mind.

When I have panic attacks, i immediately stand up, put my phone on the bed, and start walking around the house nonstop for hours. It works dreams. My anxiety is strong so I have to walk for hours on end but even standing helps. Best thing you can do. Walk, and get outside or look outside.

      4. Engaging in mindfulness practices, such as meditation or yoga, can help you stay present in the moment and reduce feelings of anxiety or overwhelm. Taking time to focus on your breath and body can help you feel more grounded and centered in your daily life.
      5. Surrounding yourself with positive and supportive people can also greatly impact your well-being. Having a strong support system can provide you with emotional support, encouragement, and a sense of belonging, which are essential for your mental and emotional health.
      6. Practicing gratitude can also help improve your overall well-being. By taking time each day to reflect on the things you are grateful for, you can cultivate a more positive outlook on life and increase your overall sense of happiness and contentment.
      7. Making time for self-care activities, such as taking a relaxing bath, reading a good book, or going for a walk in nature, can help you recharge and rejuvenate both mentally and physically. Prioritizing self-care is essential for maintaining your overall well-being and preventing burnout.

      1. Deep breathing is a simple yet effective way to calm your mind and body. Take slow, deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth to help relax your body and reduce stress.
      2. Moving your body with positive affirmations can help improve your mood and boost your self-confidence. Incorporate movement into your daily routine while reciting positive affirmations to yourself to foster a more positive mindset.
      3. Showing empathy towards others can also have a positive impact on your well-being. By putting yourself in someone else's shoes and understanding their perspective, you can build stronger connections with others and cultivate a sense of compassion and understanding in your own life.

I agree….That’s why I mostly stopped following the news about a year ago. I get daily email summaries of the news from the AP and the New York Times, but I almost always just glance at the headline of the emails and don’t open them. If I do open them, I only glance at the headlines inside. I also found a way to disable news stories showing up automatically on my Google search page.
It’s a huge change from when I used to be way too consumed and affected by all the suffering and negativity in the world. I’m very sensitive and empathetic, and it was causing me tremendous stress, anxiety and sadness to be aware of every horrible thing happening all over the world, in excruciating detail, the moment it happened. We’re not meant to live like that!! Not to mention, I could have been spending that time doing something more productive for my own life.
The media knows negative stories draw more attention, so that’s what they flood us with. It seems like the world is about to end every day for a million different reasons…but it’s been like that for as long as I can remember.
There is value in being aware enough of societal issues to be an educated voter and to contribute however you can to causes that are important to you. Beyond that, I think it’s important, especially for sensitive people like me, to realize there is absolutely NOTHING most of us can do about the things we read about in the news, and to trust that there are people out there who CAN do something and are doing it.

This was very briefly mentioned at the start of the video but feeling stressed is not clinical Anxiety. The distinction was then buried in some already fairly well known techniques for reducing stress levels.
I have professionally diagnosed Clinical Depression and Anxiety (GAD, Social). I also get stressed about every day things like running late for appointments, having to make an awkward phone call, etc.. These are two very different things. My Anxiety ( before treatment) was a persistent feeling of 'something' being wrong, I'd made a mistake, being judged, I'm not good enough..... . These thoughts were there from as far back as I can remember and I needed more than just breathing or moving to reduce the symptoms.
I don't work in the medical field, but there seems to have been an over-correction to the supposed over prescription of antidepressants. This could be putting some people at risk of not seeking professional help for clinical depression and/or anxiety.

How "genuine" is your fear? If that's because of something realistic like how to pay the bills for this month, it's better to solve the problem. If the fear is not a realistic one even though you feel it genuinely, like the ET will invade the earth, you may need therapy. I went through both types of fear and that was my opinion😊

I pray thru my anxiety...the Bible addresses it, it says, "do not be anxious about anything, but by prayer and petition, give your requests to God. He cares for you". When we know we r not alone in this world and we have a God who loves and cares about us, we can be comforted by Him. He is there, he is just waiting for us to reach out and talk to him! Then u will see him work when u have faith in Him, even tho u don't see him. That's what faith is.

Take as deep breath as you can thru your nose. Hold breath for 8 or 9 seconds. Slowly expel thru purssed lips for a count of 8. Repeat 10 x

Does anyone here with anxiety actually feel that deep breathing helps?? I have tried every version of it and have never found any reduction in my anxiety, yet every book and article is like, “take slow, deep breaths.” It doesn’t help in real world application, or even if it temporarily calms me, the anxiety floods back as soon as the breathing exercises are finished…

      Sorry for your loss.
I recently watched as my friend wasted and died of ALS. Very sad. However, if this can help in any way,
I choose to focus on the fact that I am alive. My friend would have wanted me to take advantage of the years she was robbed of. As Albert Camus wrote, life may be absurd and meaningless, so let's enjoy it.
Lavish yourself with all the wonderful sensations of having a body alive today.
It makes me enjoy the short life I have and try to make the world a happier place for those I share it with. Thus also giving me a purpose, which also helps bring joy.
My condolences. I hope this could help even a little.
