    The Son of God Goes Forth to War"
    by Reginald Heber, 1783-1826)
    1. The Son of God goes forth to war
    A kingly crown to gain.
    His blood-red banner streams afar;
    Who follows in His train?
    Who best can drink His cup of woe,
    Triumphant over pain,
    Who patient bears his cross below--
    He follows in His train.
    2. The martyr first whose eagle eye
    Could pierce beyond the grave,
    Who saw His Master in the sky
    And called on Him to save.
    Like Him, with pardon on His tongue,
    In midst of mortal pain,
    He prayed for them that did the wrong--
    Who follows in his train?
    3. A glorious band, the chosen few,
    On whom the Spirit came,
    Twelve valiant saints; their hope they knew
    And mocked the cross and flame.
    They met the tyrant's brandished steel,
    The lion's gory mane;
    They bowed their necks the death to feel--
    Who follows in their train?
    4. A noble army, men and boys,
    The matron and the maid,
    Around the Savior's throne rejoice,
    In robes of light arrayed.
    They climbed the steep ascent of heav'n
    Thro' peril, toil, and pain.
    O God, to us may grace be giv'n
    To follow in their train!

    Polish language version:
    Syn Boży idzie śmiało w bój,
    koronę zdobyć swą.
    Skrwawiony sztandar wznosi się.
    Kto pójdzie za Nim dziś?
    Kto chce z kielicha biedy pić,
    pokonać własny ból?
    Kto z was chce krzyż cierpliwie nieść?
    Niech pójdzie w Jego ślad.
    Męczennik wpierw, co poza grób
    sokolim wzrokiem tnie.
    Co Pana swego dostrzegł tam
    i błagał: Ratuj mnie!
    Jak On o przebaczenie win,
    śmiertelną znosząc kaźń,
    Dla katów swych błagania śle.
    Kto pójdzie w Jego ślad?
    Chwalebne grono Pańskich sług,
    na których zstąpił Duch.
    Dwunastu ufnych uczniów kpi
    ze stali, ognia, ran.
    Nie straszny im tyrana gniew
    ni lwa rozwarte kły.
    Przed śmiercią kładą karki swe.
    Kto pójdzie w Jego ślad?
    Szlachetna rzesza starców i
    młodzieńców śpiew pieśń.
    Przy tronie Zbawcy chwalą Go
    odziani cali w biel.
    Do bramy Nieba wspólnie szli
    przez trud i znój, i łzy.
    O, Panie, okaż łaskę nam,
    abyśmy za Nim szli.

    A few things - the son of God goes to war in a different way that man does. The Cross the the ultimate weapon against the devil. Martyrdom was more powerful than an army, etc.
    However, where in the world did you hear that Christianity taught one mustn't kill? One mustn't murder - that bible teaches, but one may kill justly. Just war, Christians in government, self-defense, etc. Killing is not wrong, only murder. War is not wrong, only unjust war.

    Well put! There are many wolves in sheep's clothing just as Jesus said there would be. (Mat 7:15) Many people deny Christ because of their observations of those who CLAIM to be Christians. Satan has placed posers in the church to "spoil the brand". Most deniers don't know the Bible, but condemn Christianity because of the behavior of Christians. Christians should never claim to be righteous anyway... Christ is righteous... He is our righteousness.

    • @thewizardofperdido3059
      @thewizardofperdido3059 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      "Posers". Yes, that's it. Such as trolls operating under provocateur names, claiming to lift the glory of the Son of God. Under the banner of personal gain, of course...their own, even if by way of those who facilitate them.
      I propose that if Christ is righteous, he is not your righteousness. That Christ dying for your sins makes your sins no more righteous. If one would be righteous in the shadow of Jesus, than they should strive to be more like Jesus, rather than trying to personify the Christ into something more like themself, in order to suit their petty ambitions.

  • @kevinwildcelt
    @kevinwildcelt 13 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    @peleno93 The original ten commandment's in Hebrew list it as, "thou shall not commit murder". There's a huge difference between murder and killing. Further in the Bible in Revelations it says clearly God hates cowards. Cowardism would be to flee or cringe in the face of danger. God expects us to fight for a just cause & has no tolerance for those who won't. Sorry pacifists ! Let the wanna be oppressors beware. When Jesus comes back he will no longer be the lamb either, he will be the Lion.

    Indeed ye have put forth a thing most monstrous! 89
    As if the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains to fall down in utter ruin.90
    That they should invoke a son for (Allah) Most Gracious.91
    For it is not consonant with the majesty of (Allah) Most Gracious that He should beget a son.92

      Allah is not the God of the Jews and Christians, Yqhwe/ Yahuah Elohim Adonai. Allah is the pagan moon god, HuBal. He is the Arab name for Baal peor of Edom and Moab. You Muslims worship the Baal of the Canaanites. Islam is Arab Pagan idolatry in sheep's clothing. You Worship the pagan god of the Qurarysh, foisted on you by Mohammed. I knock the dust of my shoes on your false Prophet, and your fallen angel put forth as God.

    • @AuxentiusZ
      @AuxentiusZ 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It would be monstrous if by son, we meant God engaged in procreation. God is complete, unique, one of a kind. When Christians speak of the Son of God, we are referring to the Logos or Word of God. Jesus Christ was the Word made flesh, even the Quran admits this in Surah 4:171. The Word of God is the self revelation of God, that is God makes known to us who He is and seeks a relationship with us. The prophets of old all carried the Word of God within them, but they were all imperfect and incapable of fully expressing the glory of God in Whose image we are made. Adam was created a man, and specifically was made to bring the image of God into the world, IE His Word or self revelation. Adam sinned and failed, and all humanity fell as a result. A second Adam was needed, and this was Jesus the Christ. He was perfect, sinless, in everlasting agreement with the Father. He embodied the Word, while Adam did not. It's worth noting that in the bible, Adam is called the son of God because God created him, and all the holy angels are known as the sons of God. The kings of ancient Israel, who lead the people were called the anointed son of God. Even Israel itself is referred to as God's son. The humanity of Jesus was formed in the womb of Jesus by the Holy Spirit, but the Divinity of Jesus is the self revelation of God to the created world. As the Apostle John says, he dwelt in a "tent of flesh"(that is the Logos, God's complete self-revelation resided in and was one with the humanity of Jesus) among us.
