California’s Unusual Wet Winter Sparks New ‘Gold Rush’

- California is experiencing a gold rush similar to the first one in 1849. Thanks to the record snow and heavy rains from California's unusually wet winter, the flow of water is pushing the precious metal downstream. Now, people are putting on their gear to find the treasure. "Nugget Nick" Prebalick of California Gold Panning showed off the gold he found to Inside Edition.
As someone who lives in California, I actually did try finding gold and yeah, I found some! They were much smaller than I expected but it was fun. And I sold some of it for $390 and kept the rest.

My dad went gold panning up in northern california back in the early 1930's but never found anything. I have been by Sutter's Mill where gold was found but that was in the late 70's but I was not looking for gold. So glad these people found gold. Gold was also found here in Southern Calif too but I am too old to look for it now. LOL

Nothing to do with gold but years ago there was a very popular bar called Sutters Mill on Syracuse University campus. I didn't know it was an actual place. Wonder why it got that name. Interesting.

I went gold panning more than 15 times. I spent all day digging in different spots, and never found a single piece, no matter how small. I was in the East Fork river. It was a long drive there, and a long, tiring drive home. After 15 times of turning up nothing and a bad back, I gave up.

East fork is a historic gold panning and sluice spot too. That’s supposed to be EXCELLENT spot to dig. I’ve also been there and had no luck multiple times😂 don’t feel bad
From videos I have seen, the gold is plentiful in Tasmania's rivers. They use a vacuum cleaner to suck up the gold from the river bottom.
@@searchforthetruth1998 , There used to be a ranger's station there. Sadly, due to budget cuts, it was closed down. One of the rangers explained to me why I wasn't having any luck finding gold in the East Fork river: even in the 1800s, the gold in the river came in very small flakes, and had to be sucked out of the river bottom with huge hydraulic hoses that ran all of the time. Eventually, due to disastrous repeated floods, the mining shut down. However, since then, repeated flood runoff from Other rivers that contained no gold, dumped hundreds of thousands of tons of mud and rock into the East Fork river, burying whatever gold remained there so deeply that no-one is going to reach it. And this has happened dozens of times over the years. Because of that, it is very unlikely that gold will now be found in the East Fork river. I don't know where the ranger got her information from, but she insisted that is what happened. It seems very plausible to me. Too bad; it would have been fun to find a few flakes of gold.

I live in lake Isabella and not long ago from these wet snows the town across the lake was flooded kernville i think, it was bad its doing better now but the river was basically flooding the park and almost took out the bridges that went over😅

Some people don't know this but You'll need a license for panning gold.
Only for specific types like using a Sluice Box. In California, I didn’t find anything for a license to pan

In national park in Yosemite California River there's alot of gold. But I think you can't just mining a gold you need to have a license i think its illegal to get some gold without license

More than likely the south fork American. Although many rivers along the western slopes of the Sierra have some deposits which is why the area is called gold county or the motherlode
