- From Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon. Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon is a 1985 martial arts musical film, produced by Rupert Hitzig for Berry Gordy and directed by Michael Schultz. The film was a critical disappointment but a financial success, The Last Dragon is now considered a cult classic. The film stars Taimak, Vanity, Julius Carry, Christopher Murney, and Faith Prince. Choreography was done by Lester Wilson, and Lawrence Leritz. The film was released in theatres by TriStar Pictures on March 22, 1985.

I absolutely agree. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and the fight scenes are pretty dope! Taimak kicks ass as Leroy, and Sho'Nuff is one of my favorite villains ever.
Please don't forget about the actor who played Sho'Nuff - Julius Carry. he passed away in 2008. He made an awesome bad guy.

At 1:39......I usually don't speak for others outside myself but I must say that I know I wasn't the only one who felt the glow all over when that particular part came on in the song lol. Best part of this track is that you hear it at the beginning when he's training, like holy shit it's big time pump up music. And you don't hear it again until that climactic fight scene, when LeRoy is forced to confront the one fighter he didn't want to fight, realizing that to become -THE- master, you have to face your fears. Powerful.
Great 80s movie! Awesome characters. Awesome music. A more innocent and colorful time when people weren't so disconnected. Vanity was beautiful.

I LOVE this movie, in EVERY phase of my life. As a child, as a teen, as a young man and now as a middle aged man. This movie was light, but had some serious themes underneath, great cast, but it was the Shogun of Harlem who made this movie. The villain makes the hero! "Who AM I?!"

im 15, was introduced this movie by my dad at the time, i was 11 or 12, He showed me this movie because I am black and wanted to be like bruce lee, so he called me bruce leroy and I didnt know what he meant so he showed me this, and has been inspirational to my martial arts career even till this day. Sadly I cant see my dad anymore but I greatly thank him for showing me the movie that personally relates to me and make me feel better.

This track was most likely composed on a Yamaha DX07 keyboard, which uses instrumental presets from the YM2I280 sound chip and has since reigned supreme in the world of FM~based music: The succeeding YM2I5I, YM2203, YM24I3, YM2608, YM26I2, and YM3438 sound chips that would come in the years to follow did their best to emulate that we got out of the I983 keyboard, though the latter three chips only ever sounded like this at its core on the Genesis, Megadrive, and Neptune (Super 032X) with GEMS and other relevant sound drivers aimed at recreating the sound of the YM2I280 almost perfectly; usually Tengen (the company who brought us the Genesis port for Ms. Pacman, as well as the Japanese Megadrive version of Marble Madness and the entire RBI Baseball series up to '95) would utilize GEMS the best and got the sound with virtual perfection, I could imagine that it wouldn't be hard making a GEMS Driver Remix of "The Last Dragon" and wishfully some people will work on such a concept over time, it is a track that is worthy of the conversion to YM3438 form without contest. I met taimak, he was so nice and down to earth. I remember watching this movie on HBO in the med 80's and I've watch it every time l, still till this day, love the movie. Bad ass movie. Little Ernie Reyes Jr. Aka tai bad ass little kid in the movie.
