The best Beasties song is finally making the rounds. This song has the sickest bass in it. It was released in 1989 on their second album, Paul's Boutique. As for genre, they are Hip Hop. They are known as one of the most influential groups in Hip Hop. They just blend in a lot of different music styles into their beats. That's why they are so good.

They're more than just. Hip hop though. A little bit of punk and other elements are in it.

Beastie Boys started their group in 1979 and started rapping in 83. They were originally a punk band

They didn't start in no 1979 LOL they're named BB in honor of the Bad Brains who didn't have an anything out until 1982. Plus they're my age and I was 12 years old in 1979. Think harder.

@@mattphillips2530 "Beastie Boys were formed out of members of experimental hardcore punk band The Young Aborigines in 1978, with Diamond as vocalist, Jeremy Shatan on bass guitar, John Berry on guitar, and Kate Schellenbach on drums. When Shatan left in 1981, Yauch replaced him on bass and the band changed their name to Beastie Boys."--google

They showed you the date in the video. LOL March 1989. The Beastie Boys are the Beastie Boys. Just 3 MC's. From New York, who accidentally turned the Hip Hop world upside down.

  • @Swenglish

Hip hop used to be all about taking influences from all other genres of music, but this album, Paul's Boutique, the 1989 second album by the Beastie Boys, took that to the next level, and the Beastie Boys continued to experiment on the rest of their albums.
I don't know what it is with people these days all doing the same kind of beats that all use the same sounds, but the traditional hip hop sound was a combination of all sorts of sounds, and the Beastie Boys (and the Dust Brothers, who helped them on this album) were definitely exemplary of that. They weren't *just* hip hop, but they were definitely hip hop.

The “It’s the joint!” sample from this song comes from a real old school hip-hop song. It’s called “That’s The Joint” by the Funky 4+1. It’s from 1980, and it featured Sha-Rock, one of the first female MCs. You should check it out.

This is one of my favorite Beastie Boys songs! you should listen to "Root Down" next. It's amazing. Also, read the lyrics either before or during cause you don't want to miss a word. Their bars are 🔥🔥
Also, you should listen to the album version of this song. In the middle of the song they have the biggest bong hit ever. They couldn't have that for the video bc of censorship but I highly recommend listening to it.
Another fun fact about this song is that near the end where you hear "Is your name Michael Diamond?" that's a delivery guy that happened to show up while they were working on the song and they asked him if they could record him saying that. And then they used it in the song!!! Fucking genius!
    As always RIP MCA 🙏🏾

This album came out in 1989, It is both the first and last album to use samples the way they did. It is completely unique and would be literally impossible to make legally today.
Also they were barely into their 20's when they made this. Beasties are originators, the only hip-hop earlier than their generation is first wave stuff like Grandmaster Flash, and Afrika Bombatta. BTW Adrock is the one who gave LL Cool Jay's demo to Rick Rubin and launched his career. Adrock also did the beats on LL's first single.
The Beastie Boys brought hip-hop to the suburbs, and we're a huge part of how hip-hop became the most popular form of music on Earth.
