      Ehh I worked at a ford dealership for 4 years until I recently quit. They weren't using the right tools or know the quickest ways to do it. If you have the right tools and know what you're doing, it wouldn't take more than 30 minutes. But yeah definitely not the funnest design, especially for home gamers.

      This is because lower quality LEDs are being used. Higher quality options like GTR Ultra 2.0 or Morimoto 2-Stroke 3.0 give much better results. Those companies actually spend time and money on research and development.
      On top of that, most people don't PROPERLY adjust the headlights after doing this type of upgrade. There's more to adjusting headlights than facing a wall and using a screwdriver.

    TFL Gang, Thanks for sharing this video. I did a very similar LED conversion with my 2019 F350 and it does take a fair amount of time and involves considerable disassembly. I was surprised by some of the additional wiring harnesses elements required in the kit, such as the Fog lights. Fog Light swap was very easy by itself. I will say that I did this for about half the price with All and Yorkim Led Lights on Amazon and was very happy with the quality. I also replaced the Front & Rear Signal and Brake LEDs and still was substantially less than the F150LED Cost.

    I used CSP mini led from headlight revolution in my 16 f150. They have a really good beam, almost like factory but much brighter. It would be hard with the f250 but at least with the t150 you can just reach up from the fender well so you don’t have to take anything apart.

  • @neitzp
    @neitzp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Be careful Andre! I don't know about the 2020 F250, but most headlight reflectors are designed to reflect a specific type of light. So if your headlight reflectors were designed to properly reflect and focus incandescent light, it will not reflect/focus LED light the same way. Many of these reflectors create very bright stray light (unfocused) in bad directions that blind oncoming traffic. I almost got into an accident because of an oncoming vehicle who did what you have done. In most states, you can get a ticket for this, so pay attention to re-aiming and dealing with tray light from your headlights or you could find yourself to blame for an accident.

    What your calling the voltage regulator is actually a CAN Bus module, and the fog lights have a resistor. Both trick the body computer to simulate the same resistance as the original Halogen bulbs to keep from turning on the headlight out message on the truck display. You should be able to activate LED front lighting eliminating the need for the modules and resistors. A Ford dealer or a body builder should have a program to enable LED lighting. IDK about Ford, but RAM has the AlfaOBD app you can get for android, and turn LED lighting yourself.

    For the guys doubting how well these lights hold up:
    I run headlights like these in all three of my rigs here in Alaska, experiencing down to -40° and on dirt, gravel, and muddy roads more often than paved. In my experience I get about a year before the fans start sounding awful and the bearings start going out. At around $90 a set it's a steep price, but for how bright they are in winter with only a couple hours of sun each day they're well worth it and cheaper than hitting a moose. My only time I've actually killed one of the lights was going through water just shy of the hood, and it killed one light altogether (Cougar Motor on amazon). I have had the best luck with the JDM Astar T2 on amazon. Which are very bright, and have held up the longest compared to others on amazon. If you have a pavement princess in Texas, these will probably last the life of the vehicle. Just be sure to adjust them so you're not blinding everyone.

    hmm. that doesn't seem like the best design with a fan, in a few years when there is dirt packed in there your lights will fail and leave you in the dark.

    • @JDCheng
      @JDCheng 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it depends. For quite a few of these designs, the fan is designed to fit behind the OEM dust cap. It was that way for my old Acadia.
      Here, dust might be an issue, for sure.

    the new f150s are the same .xlt headlights are pitiful , wanted to change the whole headlight but wasn't up to tearing the front end off. its just too easy to break a pin or clip. ended up just changing out the bulbs to led. the 2019 f150 lets you pull the fender well forward and sneak then in. still a pain to line them up and turn them .

    Times like this I rather keep my 04 Tahoe with two pins that’s on the top of the headlight assembly and change the bulbs within ten minutes tops. I swear that manufacturers make this on purpose for vehicle ownership not to change your own simple maintenance, so mechanics and dealership can charge you $200 dollars and up for something that’s easy to do. Just watch next item will be your wiper blades making one whole piece from the rubber to the connecting spline. And will charge you $300 per blade🤯🤬🤬

      Depending on the bulb and the headlight housing, there may be a need to "clock" the LED's so that the bulb elements are horizontal. And many high/low bulbs NEED this to work right.
      Beyond that, many cheaper LED sets have a wider shaft that the LED's mount on, altering the geometry for the reflectors. The best results are the ones where the LED elements are closest back-to-back.

      No you dont, there's a little release screw. Its an 8mm with a philips head on it and has a lock tab on the side. You turn it one quarter turn and it releases the entire headlight and it just slides out. Literally one of the easiest headlights to change.
