- The Integration Minister says new plans will be unveiled this month, for the Government to buy its own accommodation, to be used for housing asylum seekers.
But there's been plenty of raised voices today, as TDs debated our immigration policy, with the Dáil repeatedly coming close to being suspended.

They always refer to legal immigrants when the Irish people are referring to illegal undocumented immigrants. When the Irish people emigrated they entered countries legally just like they are now. An Irish person cannot arrive in Sidney today on a plane and get free accommodation, free food, free medical care, free education, social welfare allowance and the right to vote. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the immigrants who came to Ireland legally and are contributing to our society.
Exactly and thousends aren't contributing anything to our economy!
Wise up , there’s many Irish in the USA who went on holiday and disappeared into the system. Many I know run construction jobs and pay tax but will never be citizens

How many countries did Helen live in outside Ireland. I lived in 5 and I entered them all legally and paid my taxes. In two of them I left when my visa was up. I think Helen does not know the difference between legal and illegal undocumented immigrants.

Is this Justice Minister a joke what people are talking about are the men etc coming from safe countries who are paying to get into Eire illegally not the legal immigrants who have applied & entered the country through the proper process & procedures .
All the rural td's are doing is speaking on behalf of their local people who voted for them. The others are against the people of EIRE.

Mc Entee with her pure Irish name should change it when she's booted out of the Dail. We need to bring people into the country to shore up services she says. They all know that Irish people leaving is a direct result of the failures of government over the last 20 years. Importing workers actually drives down wages for young Irish people looking for a job out of school. Disgraceful.

Millions of Irish perished and suffered in the past when there was not the technology and energy available for many people to survive all over the world. What makes this woman now think that little, developing Ireland can take in and support hundreds of millions? The way to properly and sustainably help hundreds of poor millions, and the entire world, is through education and trade. Bringing the West down through overburden and social issues will help no one.

The reality is there is no coherent immigration strategy and the current immigration laws do not work. Incompetence indifferent and stupidity have been the hallmarks of the Irish government’s approach to immigration.
