Rachel & Jun There's a "technique" called "calendar gardening" where you plant different plants that bloom at different times of the year so there's always at least one of them blooming. There are some gardens that are famous for it,.

Rachel & Jun I inherited a love of greenery from both of my parents, so I understand where you're coming from. I think that's why I can't handle urban areas- too gray!

I went to Namba Parks in November when they had the Frozen theme for Christmas. One of the most unique malls and one of my favourite in Japan. Putting my urban planner hat on, the mall was designed to add more green space in a city that is mostly asphalt and add some semi-public space.

I lived in Amagasaki (very near Osaka) for two months, I actually just got back to America two days ago. I miss Japan so very badly! These videos give me this bittersweet feeling. But I will return, I'm surprised no one ever told me about this place! I got to see some amazing things in the Kansai district (visited Kyoto (Arashiyama), Kobe, Nara, Osaka, and then Yokohama and Tokyo. I fell in love with pretty much everything in Japan. Thanks for posting!!
And yes, the crows are REALLY ANNOYING in Japan. They are different from the crows I've grown up with in the US.

As an architect and artist who has just recently started watching your videos (and almost subsequently started learning Japanese), I almost feel as though this video was made for me! You included the most impactful shots in this video and I am so grateful that you've helped me uncover yet another amazing example of modern Japanese architecture. Btw, I have also really enjoyed your introspective looks on how LGBT people and women are thought of in Japan, as well as the "their voices" series. Keep making great videos; ganbatte kudasai!

I also miss greenery a lot. I grew up in areas where we had nice lawns, trees, lots of plant life around neighborhoods, gardens, lots of really nice parks, etc. Then when I was 13 and we moved to California, that wasn't a thing here... I miss it, and I try to get out and go hiking and spend time in the parks that do exist when I can. I'm sure when I move to Japan I'll do that same. ^.^
