Beautiful version, "Unplugged." My wife and I are also from Chicago. and like Dennis' wife, my wife was the "Lady" from Chicago. She is now in Heaven being "Lady."
He was great. Seeing recent stuff, not even a shade of what he once had. Too bad he couldn't have kept it up like Tommy is just freakin' stellar. I think he's better every time I see him!
(From Giselle's husband) Well it has to be around 2000 because Todd Schudderman is drumming and Lawrence Gonan (replacing Dennis DeYoung), isn't there yet. I will also note that this beautiful ballad is usually mistaken for being first released in the early eighties because that is when it really 'caught on'. It actually goes back to 1973 off of the 'Styx ll' album!!! ;-D Gotta love it!
Man, just to see them on stage, liking each other!! As far as the music goes. Those passages where Tommy comes in on the 2 part harmony - MAN! Those two guys have the sweetest hormonic blend. PPPPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSEEEE get back together for at least one last tour - Rmember the Eagles - "cold day in hell" tour - this after they vowed never to perform together again????????????
@wardog04 By the length of Tommy's hair, the color of Dennis' hair, and the fact that Todd is drumming, I'd place this around the same time as the Return to Paradise concert...1996-97-ish.
@Buddy6391 Yeah, this looks like it was right after John Panazzo died (see the missing name) Plus they re-recorded this for the new album. Really nice version. Not sure how this is "unplugged" with the bass and guitar amps there.. but oh well, still sounds good.
Huh? I thought that unplugged meant played with no amplification. I think the mics may be the exception.... I think it would be impossible to have a broadcast of any unplugged event without mics though...
great song great version but what BS to call it "unplugged" it as electrified as if they had electric guitars you can easily amplify an acoustic and pedal it to sound like a les paul I much prefer when guys like Clapton do legitimate "unplugged"

Sorry for your loss...
Nobody can absolutely OWN that song like DeYoung. Such a strong and emotional voice.
exactly
Dear Goodness,,,this is Insane powerful
I always liked this song from the fist time I heard it in 1975.
badass version of this rock classic
DeYoung is incredible

@@Suzisueful tommy sucks. dennis is a god
@@wickedhouston5538 Facing the truth can be tough. I understand young man...👍
literally played exactly the same just on acoustic guitars and bass. sounds fucking massive because of the harmonies. exceptional sound lol
The Ginger Canadian kinda wish they had done something different with it, it loses momentum towards the end
Styx -The fathers of the power Ballard!

it was released twice as a single
good piano...what a great band...you are famous forever and ever. (comment by my daughter, Riley)
Dear Styx, I still miss my beautiful lady more than I ever thought possible.
Wow just remembered how fuxken awesome this song is :D
I agree, even 5 years after you said so.

Dennis DeYoung is the greatest rock and roll piano player and singer ever!
@wardog04 By the length of Tommy's hair, the color of Dennis' hair, and the fact that Todd is drumming, I'd place this around the same time as the Return to Paradise concert...1996-97-ish.
Todd MASTERS this performance ---it's all about the drums
Outstanding!!
Simply amazing
Saw them at the Kingdome in 79
Masterpiece!!
This is My Song since summer 1974
That year, 74, I met my 1st girlfriend. I was still too young for her . . .
@@gregjames3001 she popped your cherry?

Awesome 👏
WOW, forgot how good these guys were live.
Damn they made me miss her so bad, and the funny thing is I don't even remember which one.
Wow James Young has a very high pitched voice, strong too .
Geri, when I was with you I was always smiling.
My boyfriends favorits song!
I LOVE YOU WESLEY!
6 years later, is Wesley still there?
@@gregjames3001 😅🕵
I didn't know Paul Riser could play piano...
Scritley lol it does look like him

Apparently he does
Styx should've been on MTV Unplugged.
Denis DeYoung is the man. What confuses me is what's unplugged? I thought is was without drums, etc.etc.?
awesome
They tried to replace various members thru the years but there is nothing like the originals, they rock!
Keep in mind that neither Todd Sucherman nor Tommy Shaw is an original member of the band.
@@chicochi3 That's right, Tommy replaced John Curulewski.

To have a voice like that you’ve got to be be a serious pain in the ass for your band mates to say they’d rather not work with you.
the best !
AHHHH que vídeo maravilhoso
The wilding warrior Tormund and Lady Brienne fav song. Game of Thrones
It’s weird to see Todd without his regular kit
Happy Birthday James "JY" Young : )
❤️
Nick's serenade
I love this song but how is unplugged? Unplugged from what?
+mrhabanero1 LOL.
+mrhabanero1 Unplugged from your mothers hairy bush.
+JoJoGunn HAHAHAHAHAHSHAYAUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
It's acoustic guitars instead of electric guitars plugged into massive amplifiers.
#StyxForever
ca fait du bien aux oreilles tout est parfait dans leur musique et voix qui s harmonisent parfaitement dommage qu ils se soient séparé
I thought the Eagles might have been the best all around live band ever, I might have been wrong, Holy Shit !!!!!
Huh? I thought that unplugged meant played with no amplification. I think the mics may be the exception.... I think it would be impossible to have a broadcast of any unplugged event without mics though...
That's your focus?🙄..smh.
They call acoustic unplugged in these types of sessions.
Does this exists in CD? I've never seen any unglugged cd from Styx....
Dennis DeYoung sounds great even on a day when his voice was a bit worse for wear.
they just dont make music like this anymore!! my generation sucks :(
& 6 years later what they call music still sucks
@ambersalcove
Better than Billy Joel?
billy and dennis are both gods
Eargasm…...
Oh
Often imitated; NEVER, EVER duplicated. DD was STYX (mic drop).............
guys what year was this?
1995
I like the studio version much better. You don't hear or see the Arp, Synthesizer in this video.
When was this recorded?
Um, that microphone is plugged in.....
We all know one thing for sure, she must be a very fine woman!!
Just seems strange to see JY playing acoustic. . .
Unplugged??
:v :v
I came for the simpsons, now I know who they are
All the music these days is crap!
great song great version but what BS to call it "unplugged" it as electrified as if they had electric guitars you can easily amplify an acoustic and pedal it to sound like a les paul I much prefer when guys like Clapton do legitimate "unplugged"
hardly an "unplugged" version eh? ;)
Two acoustics don't make it so
Drummer sucks too busy!
You're nuts. He wasn't too busy at all. Played it just like the record.
You must be some jealous nobody drummer. LOL
He had to do something to fill for the "unplugged " version
