@jlrthebassplayer why would they? They would be crossing into 'no mans land' to try and retake ground. Tactically, trying to retake land would put men into great danger, and would be a mistake IMO. I don't believe they would do that. It's easier to annihilate anything moving in no mans land with artillery, and it's a disadvantage for Russians coming in.

Russian here. Shoigu isn't "experienced military officer". He is a pretty good PR manager. He never served in military, and he was specifically chosen because he is from ethnic minority. Putin believes that army wouldn't follow Shoigu into coup against Putin, because they don't respect a civilian in the place of Defence Minister and the one who is not ethnic Russian. Dictators in Russia historically undermined their Defence Minister in order to prevent coups.

Russia is a nuclear state. Ukraine is not an official nato member. What US and Europe fear is a nuclear war. War is brutally cruel. If weapon uses are not restricted, the actual places to use these weapons are on civilians where people concentrated, on Kremlin where Putin is, and other important places like food storage, dams, water facilities transportation systems. This is war, not a war game. Weapon restrictions are very necessary, only military targets, or the war will be escalated, and millions of innocents will die unnecessarily.

Biden actually did say it out loud, after he withdrew.

Straight from deepstate: The Russian army has advanced in Pivnichne, Zalizne, Zhelanne, Serhiivka and Ivanivka. They have advanced near Lysychne and Zhelanne. The Ukrainian Army has pulled out of Stupky-Holubovski-2 (which is in Chasiv Yar). Earlier today the Russians also advanced near Tymofiivka.
With all those advances I would say that the Russians are gaining “insignificant ground” or whatever as that is a lot of territory but while on the topic of advance I would like to say that no one outside the chief of staffs of Ukraine and Russia has any “facts” on the situation of casualties. We can guess based on what has been told but the numbers are doubtless inflated (on both sides) and people will typically choose which ever fits their bias.
All in all Ukraine isn’t “winning” but nor is it “losing”. They aren’t winning because they are still falling back but they haven’t lost because their frontline hasn’t collapsed. It’s ridiculous to speak in such absolutes because the situation is always chasing and the information is dubious quite often, making it it nigh impossible to come to a truthful conclusion.

Serious question: if forward-deployed Russians have poor communications with Russia command back in Russia, then it seems logical to me that Russia might have a hard time avoiding its own mines in Ukraine. I mean, they can't completely seal it off, or they themselves wouldn't be able to get through. But at the same time, if you had to guess, how many Russians died running over mines in Ukraine planted _BY_ Russians?
I mention that because Russia may well have established some defenses in Ukraine that are now causing Russia headaches. And if by some outrageous stroke-of-luck Russia wins and captures all of Ukraine, Russia would then have to de-mine and re-build? Not a chance in hell of that happening. If they had the means to execute that level of reconstruction, then they wouldn't have even needed Ukrainian land in the first place.

A quick Google search of MSM articles from the past couple of months will quickly set things right, however. Ukraine is being systematically destroyed on the battlefield and cannot conscript enough troops to sustain existing brigades let alone form new ones. Even AFU officers concede they do not have enough troops to defend against Russia, which is advancing almost daily across the entire line of engagement. It's striking to me that so many people believe what this channel is selling when Western leaders and the MSM don't believe any of it and recognize that the end is drawing near for Ukraine.
