If you listen and watch, you'll find that the music changes with Reflux's attacks, this can happen in a few games, and I can't help but appreciate the effort that they put into the little details in games
Ironically you can say more love went into this game than most current titles and it shows. It all blends seamlessly. The ambience, the fight, the theme it's all perfect.
Knaarens are vulnerable to magic it seems. If you look closely, Rayman doesn't actually punch Reflux- rather he punches the magic infused staff he carries which, in turn, hits and damages the latter as per knock back.
@@pantheman2842 Simple answer-it's a video game. Other Knaarens were not oponents but obstacles to avoid. The whole level was essentially a survival horror in a platform game. Reflux is a boss so naturally he follows a different mechanics. It's also worth mentioning, he is carrying a magic staff and we aim at it during the battle. Reflux is not taking damage, the staff does. The battle is over when it gets destroyed.
One of the best boss battles ever. The attacks and phases are really great but the music and atmosphere is what really makes it. One of the few times I really did feel like I was fighting an intimidating opponent in a video game.
When I played this as a kid this was the fight I really, really struggled with. I must've redone this fight like 50 times. That song in the background is burned into my mind forever.
Normal Reflux is more interesting (and perhaps one of the best bosses of the whole series) boss fight than his alternative form, both forms are the final boss.
@@NinSega89 yup this arena is the only location in the desert where you actually have the chance of using the red powerup in combat. An interesting little detail
if there is one game that i would love to have a HD remake, it's this one. everything about it was so good. story, mechanics, soundtrack, voice acting, design, everything was spot on.
Me too!!! I was vigilant at finding all the cages prior to this fight. Long health bar is the only way to have standing chane with Reflux. Even than I lost many times. And there's also that boss music. Digerido and chanting of madness.
I´ll never forget the musik in dat fight :D overall my favourite game and one of my first played too :D did u ever manage to finish it i tried it like 10 times but i just won against Reflux last Phase like one time^^
0:28 why just why rayman 3 hoodlum desert of knaaren is funny the is like its so easy to die and smash your xbox 360 in the wall lol the desert of the knaaren boss was kind of easy lets's say like a medium/easy at the same time for me

Totally true
Very true
I’m impressed that it transitions to the changes without cutting off
yeah i remember that too, even AAA games of today don;t have that implemented as well, if at all.
Ubisoft: Its a just a boss fight in the middle of a rayman game, don’t go too hard
The art director, composer, and sound designer:
The whole level was total insanity.
I think this is one of the best boss fight in many games.
And the coolest
Ur god damn right
Yes sir it is
No. I mean did you all play Like 4 games in your life ?
@@LitlleponeyD no, a lot of bosses just don’t compare to this
The music is impressive... I mean the ochestral music combines with the choir.. They had put so much effort on to music... This game is a masterpiece
Right? It sounds so ominous, it's perfect.
@@laylover7621 Yeah and it's little bit disappointing that Ubisoft didn't come up with next Ratman series like this
didgeridoos

When I was a kid, I'm 25 now, I had a lot of problems dealing with this boss and omg the memories
Because he was hard or because he was scary?
4:27 dude I thought that shit was coming at me lol
LMFAO

This explains a lot.
Might explain why you can beat Reflux, but not the others of his tribe, yet they all fear him.

No. Knaarens truly are invincible, the thing with Reflux is that he gave up his invincibility so that he can use spells/incantations and magic.

4:27 : Pov you are Reflux
In personal opinion, reflux sounds more terrifying in Spanish because its spells are listened to in detail, sounding really like a ritual
Yep, its much better and not only Reflux but the game itself
Heey! Tú hablas español
@@dunkn5222 Si, pero para que me entienda mas gente escribo en ingles XD
For anyone wondering what Spanish Reflux sounds like: th-cam.com/video/5QqAd1FrOIU/w-d-xo.html
Try listening the italian version :) (even the last bossfight)
4:26 that scared the shit out of me lol xD
Yes the fist
I felt that

Yeah, he was reduced to a puppet of Andre later on, here it shows his full glory.
This was the coolest shit ever when I was a kid.
I will never understand why the supposed strongest of the Knaarens is the only one you can actually beat
I think that breaking his scepter makes the magic in it hurt him
probably just a game mechanic
I think you can only defeat them with the power up, because it's not there when you see and encounter them in hordes

Seeing this only makes me want a Rayman 3 remake even more than before.
I don't want a remake of something that's perfect

Anyone who understood what André said at 6:59?
I could only hear: 'Do that again...'
The full line is
"Do that again, olive head, and I'll skewer you with that toothpick of yours!"
DO THAT AGAIN OLIVE HEAD AND ILL SKEWER YOU ON THAT TOOTHPICK OF YOURS!
Now this is how you make an epic boss fight
when i was 8 i did days over this xd
4:26 jumpscare lmfao.
Im glad to see that this was a genuinly hard boss and not just something which was hard cuz you were a kid at the time haha
Man I miss this game.
4:27 Rayman? tf 💀
the music in this game was the best

Nice didgeridoo playin', mate!
4:29 OW! WATCH IT!
This soundtrack slaps so hard
I always wondered if the lines from the "scissor light attack" are rotating or bouncing off of themselves.
3:56 the worst part od this battle!
