The funny thing about super hopping is that you can go faster in a mega. Ejay B calculated that the bit bike in a mega mushroom should be able to reach about 312 km/h. Which is about 2.153x faster than funky kong flame in a wheelie.
@@pannekook2000 Incorrect. Momentum based nonsense with outside drift has been known for a long time (for example, notice how I actually used superhopping in the LC Ultra demonstration video before Monster made his superhopping demonstration vid). It's just that outside drift jank has been largely left to TAF stuff until recently. As far as I'm aware, riibalance wasn't really a factor (at least, it wasn't for LC Ultra or Superhopping).
Huh...neat Also for the record, super hopping is considered No Ultra for the purposes of the TAS category system, so inside drift bikes still largely reign supreme for No Glitch. For No Ultra runs and some Glitch runs, however, outside drift will definitely make a big impact due to superhopping. One more thing, superhopping has been known for quite a while, but we never really seriously thought to implement it in actual runs. Monster simply found the absurdly versatile application for it. Hope that makes things clear :)
Ok in case anyone is still watching this video, quick correction. Superhopping as we know it now was not known before Monster discovered it, but we knew of similar methods of quickly gaining horizontal speed using hops on outside drifting bikes. What superhopping allows us to do is maintain that speed all the way to the hard cap and preserve it on turns and straightaways. It's a new method of abusing something we only kinda understood in the past. Apologies for any confusion :)
