Erosion of beaches is a natural process. You curtail that process at one point, you get unintended consequences down the shore. Those beachfront owners knew what they would encounter.
So when the water erodes the beach the state land keeps moving inland and land owners can not protect their property from the erosion. So sooner or later tge state owns the land the building was sitting on but still colects taxes from the owner. Such a good deal
Instead of saving land . You would rather have state land beaches underwater ? Then steal land and make rock beaches . All over the world rock beaches are being made . At least educate yourselves what other countries are doing before deciding. You cannot give permits then maintenance time arrives oh we want to cancel that permit . This is the reality of global warming. This public state land will all be under water . Stupid logic .
why cant they build the wall on the makai side of their property? and just leave the public land alone and let that errode until it reaches there wall. is that not allowed?
Those cameras should be updated or their names plate fonts should be larger to be legible on camera! That is our tax dollars sitting there, i wanna know the name of who is responsible!
The tax assessed values need to reflect loss of square footage of land than. Building a sea wall on private property is legal guy. The property line on the survey is private property. The state should back off
Kam schools did a study on this years ago and divulged themselves of their beachfront properties because of it. I’m sure they did not tell the new owners about their study. First world problems for multimillionaires and as usual Kam schools, it’s not helping out the people of Hawaii, but helping out themselves. Nothing new there.
@@Bobman450100% they bought property by my house they are a multi billion dollar real estate company and they care very little if at all about the community.

keep hawaiian sands in hawaiian hands
You know the risk of building on sinking sand but you still do it because you think it will never happen, it happened now you stuck.
Rich guys bought up the beachfront over the years and now the surf washes away their houses. Hmm, I don’t really see what the fuss is all about.
Colonizers mad
All the fire victims are staying in Kahana...no care?
Get over yourself

Great name for a sports team, The Colonizers!
@IkaikaArnado I'm one paycheck away from being homeless.
Typical state regulators basking in all of their glory.
So when people are trying to protect the land from erosion, and the State fined them from doing what they supposed to do. Stupid idiots.

Native Hawaiians built SEAWALLS and FISHPONDS to protect the beach from erosion.

The bishop estate cares more about real estate investments than Hawaiians.😊

Rich people from somewhere else are technically not “people of Hawaii.”
