- I am showing you why the Vera Bradley Weekender is the very best travel bag and works perfectly as the Personal Item in addition to a carry on suitcase allowed by airlines. The bag comes in many different prints as well as solid colors. I have had this bag for years and traveled all over the world with it numerous times and it is amazing! When I fly on a jet airplane, it is small enough to tuck under the seat in front of me. When I'm on a cruise ship, it's big enough to carry the personal items I need: camera, make-up, purse, etc.
Be careful to not get the compact weekender as that is a smaller bag.

I love Vera Bradley but I've been getting mine at a local consignment shop. Got a weekender bag for $10 and got lots of compliments on it. Not a thing wrong with it no tears, holes nothing. I do take short overnight trips/ staycations with friends ever few months and great for that. I also got a VB crossbody from there. Both like new. They hold up well. Now I know what that side handle is for. I don't fly so I didn't know. 😂

I have a weekender…they are a great size! Lug is another brand that has great bags with lots of pockets/compartments! I have the Lug Puddle Jumper…not as big, but love the compartments.

Vera has a new version of this tote with a zippered lower compartment which is perfect for an emergency outfit.
I have 2 weekenders also, one is 19 inches wide and the other is 16 inches wide. I take the 16 inches one as a carry on, so it fits under the seat I don't mind that it's smaller because I also have my carry on suitcase. I use the 19 inches one for weekend getaways that we are traveling by car. Then i just bring a separate makeup-toiletry case. Personally, I don't like suitcases for short, getaways by car.

Thank you for the info on the bag. I have a anti theft small backpack and a small handbag for my next travels as carry on's. The idea of a handbag going inside the weekender bag would give me even more space to pack more essentials. Thanks.

I love Vera Bradley and still purchase them, but the fact that the handles wear so badly is really discouraging.
What is the dimension and does it fit under United Airline seats?
Is this weekender bag water resistant? Because it is so squishy, is it still durable compared to other weekender bags (Lululemon, Beis, etc)?
It is not directly waterproof, but you can spray it with Scotch-guard or such. It is quite durable, otherwise. We have traveled with this bag for a number of years, and it is only worn on the handles and has many good travels left.
I just purchased one and am hoping to use it as a personal item on an Allegiant flight. Do you think it will fit under the seat even on a budget airline flight? It is a little over the dimensions but seems so flexible??

@Devi Allen I never use a backpack either just for that reason. My husband likes to use his backpack so I always keep my eye on him.

For years I have used the VB Weekender for car trips. I’m afraid it will be too bulky for flights. Your review gives me hope.

@@cruisingforone I have fit this one under the seat before. I usually put it in the overhead bin but it does fit under the seat. The Vera Outlet has one that is just a little smaller, and cheaper 😊, that I really like as well. I’m planning to bring that one this next week. Bring the bag to a shoe repair shop. Have them make leather slip on handles over the area that is frayed.
